  • On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Tó Nizhóní Ání, Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, and Columbia Riverkeeper organized a webinar to present the opposition to the proposed pumped storage developments from the Southwest to the Pacific Northwest, connecting the Diné (Navajo) Nation and Yakama Nation concerning the Navajo Pacific Northwest Natural Resource Tour.
The Navajo Nation Resource and Development Committee (RDC) has approved travel for its members to attend and participate in the Navajo Pacific Northwest Natural Resource Tour as it relates to large-scale, irrigated agriculture and hydroelectric power pumped storage from August 1-3, 2024, in the Pacific Northwest in or near Goldendale, WA. The Navajo Nation RDC and Navajo People are largely unaware of the issues of pumped storage hydropower related to the Yakama Nation sacred sites of Pushpum and proposed projects here on the Navajo Nation.
