Any new music you've been enjoying or have picked up lately? Let me know!
I just checked out Turnstile's 2021 album, “GLOW ON”, and it’s absolute HEAT! 🔥
i preordered Saib’s “Under The Stars” & Flofilz’s “Close Distance” recently. i’m really looking forward to them
2814-新しい日の誕生 on cassette and purple vinyl
I picked up My Bloody Valentines self titled recently. And The Record Exchange in Salem mass is a fav spot
Luxury Elite's Fantasy on Cassette, it was my first Vaporwave Cassette that I've ever Bought,
Bought it on Discogs 'cause Physcial Vaporwave Releases are Pretty Hard to find here in Australia,
Love your work, Pad!
Cratedigging when you find the perfect vinyl to listen/sample is another level of joy that not many people can achieve.
YES
What the fuck you are here too
One of the nice things about being Minnesotan is that the twin cities has hella record stores and they’re all fucking amazing. There’s this local one called Agharta Records that I recently picked up Haruomi Hosono and Syd Barrett albums at.
Flames I might have to dive in when I go there
Thanks for the recommendation I’ll check out agharta at some point
Twoism was my first album by BoC and I can say it really is a perfect intro for them. Sixtyniner is such a beautifully melancholic opener and one of their most underrated tracks.
My favorite shop at my local mall. Fantastic selection and agreeable prices
Boards of Canada is one of my favorite bands. Didn't expect to see them on this. Incredible band and fun background story for their name.
They rule
Their vinyl pressings on warp are amazing.
I recenly moved to Boston for college, this place is one of my favorite spots to buy records. I recently bought a copy of Midnight Blue by Kenny Burrell, a great guitar jazz album, I recommend checking it out, really chill and beautiful. Village Vinyl is also a really good place for used records.
I’m glad I’m close to this record store
Thats awesome
Seeing the massive collection of vaporwave and meal albums makes me drool
Right? Vaporwave is SLEPT on in record stores
wow you scored some sick vinyl! its a pleasure seeing you stop by at my fav local record shop :)
The S U R F I N G red black and blue vinyl is really cool one of my first records I got. Really want to get the FM Skyline one.
Newbury Comics is awesome. Only corp I’ll buy vinyl at.
hahaha love the way you put that
My dumb a thought you were talking about Catsystemcorp
Love newburry comics! Recently picked up their reissue of enchanted whispers and instrumentals on bright orange with red (and some hot pink) splatter. There’s no locations near me but honestly I’d go the extra mile (quite literally) to visit one of their locations someday as I LOVE their exclusives and selection of music. It’s like they somehow know all my favorite artists haha
We're blessed with a lot of stores like that around Detroit and the state of Michigan. It's not something that's lost on me. I love having the option to just go dig for hours if/when the spirit moves me.
So … welcome to my neck of the woods … sort of =]
So you got a shot of 200 Clarendon St, colloquially known as the Hancock Tower. I took a photograph of it (many times) and it became the artwork for that “cyberpunk spa” album ( 😉 ) Reincarnated Resurrection.
Newbury Comics is definitely a regional thing. While you went to the Back Bay one (and almost the OG location), there was another one up near North End. Aimee Mann once worked at Newbury Comics before ‘Til Tuesday kicked off. They also are in a few key malls in the New England area like Natick Mall, Solomon Pond in Marlborough and Burlington Mall in Burlington. Oh yeah and also in Harvard Square.
And yes, it does amuse me seeing various 100% Electronica releases on the stacks. You can thank our boi George Clanton for this 😁
This was a refreshing experience! ^^ Subscribed
There is a Newburgh Comics at the Danbury mall in CT and it’s incredible! Not as big as this one but very well stocked
I guess my latest cassette pick up is technically Magdalena Bay’s Mercurial World. Have only listened to a bit of it, but it’s a bop for sure
There’s one in the Nyack palisades mall too. Representing the tri state :)
Ayy Big Daddy Paddy. Keep up the awesome work man!
PADDDDDD!!! FINALLY SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE! VINYL FOREVER!!!!!
The original Newbury Comics opened on Newbury Street Boston in 1978. They started out selling new comics and punk vinyl. The store was a couple of blocks closer to the Boston Common from where it is now (on the opposite side of the street I believe). Newbury Street was in the process of rezoning the ground floor of all the brownstones from residential to commercial, they were in a building that was still an apartment. Record boxes were on the kitchen counter (and the stove!) and comics were on the dining room table.
Hey I wanted to thank you for your videos, I first found your channel through your video on noise music and more specifically Pulse Demon, and since then I've taken interest in the vinyl record world. Speaking of which, I've started collecting recently and got Merzbow's Pulse Demon, Kraftwerk's The Mix and TCF's NLeZ7tnzzjTXBsM[...] on vinyl. I also got DJ Rozwell's NONE OF THIS IS REAL on CD, and pre-ordered two other records: Kongestion by SHXCXCHCXSH, and the coming vinyl of Merzbeat by Merzbow. I'm now going once a week to a local flea market where I've met a record shop owner, I'm finding new stuff to listen to. I'm having a blast, and I'm excited to see what's coming
Great video pad! As for me I just picked up the complete Special Herbs boxset on cassette by Metal Fingers 🤞
I live in Mass. So many diggin spots, I went to an indoor flea market over the weekend and got so many gems dirt cheap in amazing condition. Keep Diggin
YES!!! Couldnt agree more
Idk if you like any alternative rock that has been pumped out lately but I’ve really been enjoying The Simps new album Siblings, Momma’s Two of Me, and Men I Trust’s Untourable Album!
I've been thrift shopping a lot more the past year and pretty much just discovering music id never give a shot in the digital world. From niche 80s bands (The F.U.s) to a bunch of 90s bands that I think were local in my area in the 90s. Also just recently found some prog Rock. All for pennies on the dollar 😎
I've been getting into more prog rock too. Found an old band called Jade Warrior, they had some good stuff. I'm not really in the position to be buying albums yet, and I doubt I'd be able to find any of these either...
If you ever go to Austin, Texas, go to End Of An Ear. Out of all the stores I visited there (Waterloo, Breakaway, etc.) Enf Of An Ear was my favorite.
I LOVE Texas.....dying to go to austin. Ill put that on the list. (ps sub me if you love records!!!)
Why do all the coolest places have to be so far away. :(
So jealous!!
My absolute favorite shop
After having a relationship that went downhill and watching your channel religiously, I started to collect records. I have bought more than 30 since I started in September, I have absolutely totally drowned myself in the amercement, complexity, and creativity that music has to offer.
My Favorite Stores though here in Cincinnati are probably Black Plastic, Plaid Room Records, Or Shake it Records, if your more interested in my discography collection (discogs) or questions ill be here!
SO happy to hear that
Bro, could you do a Record Store Day vlog or something this year? That would pop! I plan to do one this year too!
YES!!! Lets goooooo!!!! RSd is going to be great this year! (ps sub me if you love records, I make videos on RSD!!!)
my mouth watered at the intro sequence, all those vinyls!!!
I’m in one of my regular classical music moods, so I’ve been snagging box sets that the Deutsche Grammophon label has been putting out that will have a bunch of CDs plus a BluRay Audio disc with all of the CDs on one disc.
I've never been to the US, but isn't NJ south of Boston? You said several times you'd gone "down" there.
You need to check out the record store Bull Moose. It's a chain like Newbury but they have an insane selection of vapor vinyl. I picked up an Bull Moose exclusive copy of New World Disciples by Desert Sand Feels Warm at Night. They also had some catsystem corp, vektroid, and a bunch of 100% Electronica too. The excitement of finding some vapor vinyl out in the wild never gets old.
OMg i LOVE Bullmoose. They are so good and their prices are fair. I didnt know they had a good vaporwave section. (ps sub me if you love records!!!)
seeing pad at my hangout spots in town is wild lol
I was just there last summer :D
I can't get enough of sinner get ready by lingua ignota, is an ominous horror movie made album
And it just got sadder once everything came out
That is by far the best part of walking through a new city, the local shops for niche hobbies.
It’s crazy I’m about to go to NY to go get some vinyls very soon. I’m definitely going to go there. Thanks for the store to stop at now.
ive actually been to that one and picked up ill try living like this by DDS in august
i didnt know u live in jersey....i do too maybe this place aint so bad
Nice to see you finally got here, hope you had fun homie!
" oohh whhhatt?? theres a record store right near the bnb we booked????" 🤔sus.
No physical buys, but I bought Ouse’s “Crying in Camo” and pre-ordered ZalaGasper’s “Love Letter” on iTUNES. Both are excellent lo-fi artists.
I'm posting this comment so maybe the pad audiophile audience can help me, I recently got my first real record player, an audiotechnica, and im trying to find good, not too expensive, small speakers for it. What would any of yall recommend?
Dude you're so lucky..
i started crying when i saw that clip where they had aphex twin!!!
Hes a king
The fact that this is an east coast thing makes me kinda mad. I want something like this somewhere along the pacific coast.
I misread the title, and thought it said "I Found a Way to Record Heaven" i swear to god
Please do a follow-up on Late Night Delight. Luxury Elite just shared some interesting information on the My Pet Flamingo podcast.
my bandmate's got me listening to reggaeton for inspiration for some of our weirder new tracks and the Henry Fong remix of Mi Gente by J Balvin is such a banger
Handsome man
There was one of these stores near my hometown growing up in NH. I don’t think they had vinyl, or at least not enough for me to remember. Kinda sucks, I wish I had discovered vinyl earlier
Oooow that magic feeeliiiiing :)
Hey pad hope you have fun listening to your records
Love going to the record store.
Hey, from being from New Jersey, have you been down to Princeton Record Exchange??
JUST HOW ? 🤩🤩
Newbury comics is such a great chain for finding records locally, bullmoose too
Agreed, bullmoose rules
Biggup, Pad 🙂🤞
Your fiance?! Congratulations Pad!
Obviously I wouldn’t be welcome at this store.
great video! if you ever end up in the Seattle area, easy street records is an amazing record store to keep an eye out for
Omg the PNW is SO good for record digging. Seriously. (ps sub me if you love records!!!)
when are you going to show your whole collection ?????????
Bruh you gotta go to Norwood Newbury. That place is truly Vinyl heaven
Damn Chad, rough choice being a Jets fan. 🤭
Yeeaaaas, finally a vinyl store that i can deep dive into it ✨✨✨✨(sorry for bad English )
8:23 what is that stand called? That's cool af having the cover art in front of you while listening
oooh mannn, it is a music heaven
You should make a video about breakcore or Darksynth
Oh shit, what part of Jersey you from? (North, central or south, don't need to get specific, just curious)
Dude these records are at every standard music store, gotta bait those clicks though.
What’s that white album with the face looking up in the background? 10:22
“The Dream” - alt-J
I would've gone broke if I went there. soo many records there that I absolutley need
Right? Its a real probbbblem. LOLOL (ps sub me if you love records!!!)
Not that anybody cares, or maybe you do Pad: The Twoism simplistic design stems from the fact that the very OG press of Twoism was a pressing of 100 HANDMADE copies, hence the only "artwork" being stickers, they just replicated that for the repress
If your girlfriends hands were cold, why didn't you give her your gloves? 🤣
Yo that’s sick
Man, I'm so jealous... I just want a Cassette Store... I'm tired of buying online :(
YES!!!! Im a huge casssette nerd
@@TheVinylGuru Awww sooo good to hear some love for the trusty old tape :) but damn you Vynl Collector, damn you and your (exquisite) Re-print of the Top gun soundtrack
Its a record store. They used to be all over the place for almost 100 years.
So you went to a record store.
? ???????
Why ya wearing a mask on the sidewalk?
Thumbs down. Outdoor mask wearing. Ridiculous. Love your other videos...
