The main thing that really hooked people in with this show was getting to see the VERY beginning of the apocalypse. Remember that Rick got shot and he had woken up when the apocalypse was about 2 months in already, so a good chunk of this show ends up happening before Rick even wakes up and started his journey off with Morgan and Glenn. Plus another cool thing is that rather than being all on the east coast like the main show (which started with our characters in Georgia and now has them in Virginia), this show starts in LA so we get to see another part of the US dealing with the dead.
@2 6 that’s very true - I remember being so disappointed seeing the words “2 weeks later” when the military first shows up. Like, the show slow burned in the wrong places, we should’ve seen a lot more of society destabilising. The opening of season 2 was a pretty cool spectacle though.
@2 6 I agree. But I found this show still very interesting since it has shown different sides of living in the apocalypse. The first 3 seasons involved cool and different locations, such as the ocean with pirates and border patrols, a hotel that gives me serious Dead Island Vibes (which is a good thing), and got damn interesting in season 3 with themes like racism, trade, refugees and character development. This things are never seen in the mother show so I find it quite refreshing :)
@2 6 I agree that World Beyond and I fully agree that season 4 and 5 sucks. I was talking about Dave Ericksons Season 1 - 3. It feels just a lot more real. I mean the characters themselves and the environment they live in. This Show recreated itself every season/mid-season finale with different places (Ocean on a yacht, Prepper Ranch that is in a war with a native tribe, mexican drug cartels, Military safe zones). Unlike TWD where characters are treated like super heroes fighting the same cringy comic villains every year and that for 6 years now stayed absolutlely the same. For real. They have been in Alexandria for 6 years now and before that it was still always the same cold and bleak forests. Just watch the first few minutes of season 2 after the midseason finale when Nick walks through mexican mountains or in season 1 when LA goes dark. This cinematography is something the mother show could never do and it has a characteristic and recognisable soundtrack imo. And while I didn't like the characters in the first season, I loved all the way more as they developed through the story. Especially Nick after the Season 2 midseason finale when he became my favourite character in all of TWD. The show is by any means not perfect but it is my favourite zombie show
@2 6 True. But it fell really flat as far as I remember. The only scene that I remember was when Rick called out Merle in Season 1 that now its only living meat and dead meat or something like this. When I compare that to season 3 where they lived under a racist prepper that Was actually likable it felt different. I think you are right with the false advertisment though. I was really looking forward to more information about the virus itself and was very disappointed. I did not like S1 and S2 at first. Only after TWD went trash and I rewached Fear 2 years after its release was when I could appreciate the show for what it was and fell in love with it. S3 was I think the best season out of all the TWD shows combined btw
I totally fell in love with FearTWD. I started with a blank slate also. Even though it had a couple of seasons that most complained about, I continued watching simply because I like the genre. It's worth the effort once you reach the latter seasons.
Madison reminds me of a teacher I had in elementary school, she wasn’t a regular classroom teacher, kind of like a specialist for myself, and my friends who absolutely despised school, she’d help us with assignments, overdue homework, shed take us out of class to play monopoly or card games to get a break, and whenever we got in trouble she was always there to back us up and get the regular sheep herding style teachers to lighten up. I absolutely loved her, the school scene here always reminds me of her.. its been about 13-15 years since Ive seen her, unfortunately the school doesn’t keep their contact info around so theres no way to get in contact.. but I genuinely hope she’s doing well.
Only advice here is try not to compare this to TWD even though they share the same universe and just take it on its own merit. Some ppl like it more, some like it less and some automatically don't like it because it's different. I like it because i'm a HUGE fan of the Walking Dead universe and it gets me through whenever the original's not on.
Yes I prefer FTWD. (haven't seen season 4-5 yet though). I went off The Walking Dead big time after season 5 and no longer watch it. So hopefully FTWD doesn't go downhill as well.
Fear TWD became the No. 1-rated cable series launch on record with 10.1 million viewers, including 6.3 million adults 18-49. In total viewers, “Fear” surpasses TNT's “Raising the Bar” (7.7 million in 2008) as top dog among cable premieres. Wooow! 😱
I love how Travis Manawa(Cliff Curtis) is a New Zealand Maori character in the TWD Universe. Because I'm Maori too 😁 For those that don't know, we are the native/indigenous people of New Zealand 😊
Lol small world. I remember I think it was season 2 when they were saying the nz might be in a good place compared to them...... then I thought of covid19 and they weren’t wrong.
If anyone is interested. I recommend a NZ Film called Whale Rider(2002) Starring Cliff Curtis(Travis). It's a beautiful story that will give you a taste of our Maori culture 😊 & my grandfather is from the place where this film takes place 🤗
Fun fact: On Talking Dead, showrunner Dave Erickson confirmed that Gloria was actually patient zero of the walker/zombie apocalypse in the entire Walking Dead universe, so we are truly seeing the virus in its infancy here. I thought this pilot was really well done, definitely hooks you! Great to see you guys reacting to this, hope you enjoy the ride!
Funny when Steve jokes about Walt's blue meth - not sure if you guys have heard but apparently AMC has even confirmed that Breaking Bad is a prequel to The Walking Dead. There have been rumours that a mutation or mess-up in Walt's meth recipe (after Breaking Bad events) is what kicks of the zombie apocalypse. I think it's all pretty silly, but apparently there are obvious clues out there that. have avoided looking up because of spoilers. But like I said, apparently AMC has confirmed it.
Guys this show is amazing. I'm so glad you're reaching out to the spinoff shows as well. There's a lot of moments in this show that are just as good as the main show.
Thank you 🙏 It's going to be fun watch this show again with you guys x . I have my favorite seasons, like season 3, and this season 6 started out so good! "Nicks" (Frank Dillane) dad (Stephen Dillane) is also an actor who played "Stannis Baratheon" in Games of Thrones.
I thought this wouldn’t be up until 2021, so this is such a welcome surprise! I really love FearTWD, just like you said I think there are some really great characters in this show. Can’t wait to get to see you continue watching this!
Fear The Walking Dead. The 2nd edition in TWDU and pretty much help pass the time between seasons of TWD. The energy of Fear and TWD are a little different.
I absolutely love watching people’s reactions! Your channel is my favorite! Hope you both are staying safe during this time & I’m so excited that you all have finally started this show!
After reading the trending story on smart news last night, about the Denmark “ COVID” zombie minks coming back out of their graves- I had this show come to mind. Decided to watch it again.
I'll be honest and say this show's not as compelling or enjoyable as the main show (to me anyway!). However, it's still definitely worth watching and sticking-with all the way through. Thanks so much for doing reactions to it as I'm looking forward to seeing what you two think of it.
My only problem with FTWD was a felt they rushed into the Fall instead of letting it build and build for the first season. Episodes 4,5,6 should all have had the riot as the main event until ep6 when the military show up.
So glad to see you guys react to FTWD and getting your perspective. I’ve only watched the first 3 seasons and maybe part of season 4 I had stuff happen in life and quit watching. Maybe I’ll catch up with Duo reacts I’m looking forward to more of your reactions
Wow! Ok. I was expecting this to drop on RUclips after the new year began. Great surprise. I wasn't really interested in reactions to this show, because i gave it up for a while. But now that I've caught up.....👍 My favorite thing about FTWD, especially in it's first season, is the multitude of FRESH walkers we get to see. Also the fact that we get to see a big city like L.A. deal with the outbreak. Considering that nobody had the virus...then they did... leaves me to believe that it was spread slowly from person-to-person, until everyone got exposed, then contracted it, leaving only the threat of being bitten or scratched for it to activate in your blood, to the point of death. Anyway, that's the way I always saw it from back when Jenner told Rick about everyone having it in them. Thanks for the YT upload. What's the schedule? Every Sunday morning? Great reaction! 😊🌺🏝️❤️ I can't say who my favorite is yet, but he/she will probably become one of yours, so I'll wait for that. lol
for me the only reason I began this series was because Alycia ( who played Lexa in the 100) was playing Alicia, but now im actually enjoying it. I hope you guys keep watching it :)
the guy that nick ran over wasn't bitten. meaning, he turned after he was killed by a gun shot. your theory was good too when you said the virus must've been in it's infancy where they don't won't turn yet by dying naturally. either way, good reaction👌
Yes! I wasent expecting this until next year! Thank you for doing it early...so excited. Like any other show it has its moments of eh episodes. But it’s is a good show, I’m excited to go on this ride with you guys.
So happy that you guys are trying on “Fear.“ Yes, one must begin this series with a clean slate, and there’s no reason to really compare it to the original series. It’s the same universe but someone else’s story. It’s interesting to see how it all started and how survivors were force-transitioned into the world we know as TWD. On top of that it also shows how West Coast city people approach survival. I am very married to TWD, and I worried about starting “Fear“ with too much bias. However, I was pleasantly welcomed with a new series recipe that had an evolving flavor that did not stale. I hope you guys have a similar (if not better) experience. If not, oh well; it’s not the end of the world or anything 😏
The first few seasons might be a little bit slow but just keep an open mind, it gets interesting from season 3, and now still ongoing season 6 gets even better
This show is amazing! It has it ups and downs but it truly builds on the walking dead universe! Cant wait to watch ftwd a 4th time but now with yall!!!
What I really love about this show was we see it through Nick who is a known addict so everything he says is taken by everyone else as just him being high and delusional.
Great reaction guys. You picked a really good show. Character-driven, growing tension. It is an interesting take on the fall of civilization. The Walking Dead would have been way different if the show had started off like this in Atlanta. Follow these new characters as they learn the tricks of the trade.
Thanks for picking this series to start reacting to!! You two have great taste in what series interest you. I'll look forward to seeing what you think of this show👍👍
Thanks to Anthony we have began this and we decided because he is an amazing man we will edit for RUclips early. But damn we are enjoying this journey!
I’m a big fan of Fear The Walking Dead, (seasons 1-3 + opening monologue of season 4,) so I’m glad y’all liked this ep. Can’t wait to watch the next reaction.
Also remember this is the beginning of the apocalypse, so the walkers aren't old looking. They still kinda look like they just turned. Thats why the girl still looked kinda pretty, she just turned and haven't been walking around on earth for years! Lol!
Just finished my journey of binging season 1-11 of TWD and now I'm here. Lovely journey. Idk if it's been said yet or at all but the guy that plays Nick is the guy that plays young Tom Riddle (Voldrmort) in Half Blood Prince
I always preferred the first 2 seasons of this, But it holds up if you don't try to compare to TWD. Also i can't help but love Nick.. He is my fav character. Also we saw Cal turn from being shot so i think the same rules apply as TWD. You die in any way you turn.
I love this series. I actually LOVED the beginning of this show more than The Walking Dead. But to give you some back story without any spoilers there's only a few major things you need to know about this show... - It starts off roughly a few months before Rick wakes up from his coma in the first episode of TWD. - And yes, you stated correctly....this show will be based on the West Coast. Also, it made me happy that you remember Alycia Debnam-Carey (Lexa from "The 100"). Just a bit of useless information. The reason Alicia left "The 100" was because she signed on to be one of the leads in Fear The Walking Dead.
Yesss I've been waiting for this. I hope you guys stick through this show! Would love to hear your thoughts on it in its entirety so far! It's definitely a Wild Card in terms of quality season to season.
BOOYAH!!!! Also the sparse/nonexistence of information coming from the government. I guess since it made for great ratings that's how the reality star decided to handle our very own deadly disease. Smfh
i started to watch this when it first aired but got bored of it, but am willing to take the journey on now cause your reacting to it, lets enjoy the ride :P
This is the same reaction I had to this show, I liked we started right when the thing started, and I wanted to see how everything happened. I got to finish both shows lol, I just have time.
The main thing that really hooked people in with this show was getting to see the VERY beginning of the apocalypse. The kid who plays Nick is the real-life son of Stephen Dillane, the actor who played Stannis Baratheon in GoT. :)
I was just gonna write that. ;)
Damn youd think he'd be a better actor then 😂
He also played young Voldemort in Harry Potter movies :)
@@Homer89904 yeah the young Tom Riddle.
@@ItzDylanM He’s great though

@Kingston Crew Seconded. 👍
And the 6th
I loved all of Season 4 as well. I've always preferred Fear over the original
Yes I prefer FTWD. (haven't seen season 4-5 yet though). I went off The Walking Dead big time after season 5 and no longer watch it. So hopefully FTWD doesn't go downhill as well.
@BHowardify Typical. Dropped the ball on both shows then, what a pity.
I thought this would never happen 😄

R.I.P. Sean Connery 1930-2020 who played the original James Bond.
“And that’s Lexa...from the 100” Here we go! Lol
RIP to that old guy from the hospital. He actually passed away a few years later after the show.
Fear is good in its own way, it has some weird seasons though.
It wasnt gimple at all???

I'm so glad that you are watching this show, as any show this one has its ups and downs, but overall FTWD is great, and interesting to watch.
In my opinion , the show really starting to be great when Travis and his son died.
Me 2015: How can slow moving zombies take over the world that doesn't make any sense
Me 2020: I get it now
Season 1 of fear is one of the best 1st seasons I’ve seen and the rest of the show is good too. This show is one of the most underrated.
My father, for example, doesn’t like TWD, but he was catched completely by FTWS season 1. It’s just so good as a 1st season.
@BHowardify yeah I agree I think season 5 had it’s moments of gold but otherwise it was meh

This episode takes place on day 1 of the Zombie Apocalypse.
Rick wakes up from his coma on day 59 of the Zombie Apocalypse.

Just finished my journey of binging season 1-11 of TWD and now I'm here. Lovely journey. Idk if it's been said yet or at all but the guy that plays Nick is the guy that plays young Tom Riddle (Voldrmort) in Half Blood Prince
Yay!! I've been waiting for this. Which days are u going to upload episodes?
Great to finally see this on RUclips. I know you started this a while ago, how far ahead are you guys from when we see it?
Calvin buying that stuff from Walter White
I always preferred the first 2 seasons of this, But it holds up if you don't try to compare to TWD. Also i can't help but love Nick.. He is my fav character. Also we saw Cal turn from being shot so i think the same rules apply as TWD. You die in any way you turn.
Seeing the first episode of Fear The Walking Dead just now, I was surprised how it reminding me of 2020
The hardest part about watching Fear The Walking Dead seasons 1 and 2 is watching the show and unlearn what you’ve learned from TWD
Let’s go finally you guys are watching Fear the walking dead
Finally! Been waiting to see you guys watch this!
I’m currently watching season 6 and it amazing so far
Sometimes I enjoy Fear than the main show ... So excited for this!
Awesome that yous are doing this!
Yay you are watching FTWD!!! So excited! Look forward to the reactions! Have an amazing Sunday! Love you guys!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yesss I've been waiting for this. I hope you guys stick through this show! Would love to hear your thoughts on it in its entirety so far! It's definitely a Wild Card in terms of quality season to season.
I liked seeing you both watch The Walking Dead. I have watched this since the beginning so it will be interesting to see you two watch the beginning.
The first 3 seasons of this show are a masterpiece
Hard to imagine American's being told to stay at home & quarantine to save lives but ignoring it.
Hang on, 2020 is calling...
BOOYAH!!!!
Also the sparse/nonexistence of information coming from the government. I guess since it made for great ratings that's how the reality star decided to handle our very own deadly disease. Smfh
Right!
As apocalyptically horrible as things turned out in that universe, still in all, the absence of Dr Fauci does have a certain appeal.
I just finished season 5 of fear, and I dont think it's nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I actually really enjoyed it.
YESSSSS! You guys posted FEAR! I’m extremely excited to watch!
So pumped you guys have started Fear!
i started to watch this when it first aired but got bored of it, but am willing to take the journey on now cause your reacting to it, lets enjoy the ride :P
Great reaction, I am so happy you are watching this, I love this show so much
Glad y’all started watching Fear. It’s pretty damn good.
This is the same reaction I had to this show, I liked we started right when the thing started, and I wanted to see how everything happened. I got to finish both shows lol, I just have time.
