Noticed that people are asking about the machine with the rotating cylinder blade where he pushes the leather trough a few times. Its a leather skiving machine and what it does it cuts the leather and makes it thinner. You can skive just the edges if you need it for let say when you fold the leather to get a nice edge and keep the same thickness or skive the leather few times as he does in the video to make the whole leather piece thin. If you are looking for a machine like this try aliexpress or ebay. You can find cheap but solid chinese or turkish made machines but also there are good USA, Italian German made machines. Google is your friend. I use a turkish one and it has endured for 6 years now. There are some manual tools for the same purpose. Hope that helps. Cheers
That does help a lot. Thanks man. I myself just subbed to this channel, main reason being I want to get into leather working. Always been something I was genuinely interested in and now watching your videos, I think I'll go for it. So what I'm trying to say is Thank You for taking the time to reply to questions about your tools and other how to questions. It's definitely helpful to a lot of people.
Most likely contact glue: you put it on both sides you want to bond, let it dry, and then press them together. The pressure will bond the two sides of the glue.
Where can I find the black shell you got for 2 bucks. I googled Try Cozi but nothing comes up. Nothing like that on Amazon that I see either. Is it just a black protective case of some sort?
Надеюсь, это поможет!😊 1. kenda bond : yellow, chemical smell, very strong, low price 2. intercom ecostic, high price : white, no chemical smell, thin 3. Instant adhesive : race, braiding, metal hardware (rarely) 4. B5 bond : Beige, Thick, using for lining.
Great tutorial, your leather case looks clean ! :) I've got a question: I bought a leather sheet (1,2 mm) and it has two sides: grain (the smooth one) and flesh. I see in this video that you chose a grain side to be outside. Is it because the flesh side has more pores and glue sticks better to it or there are more advantages to choose this side ? Did you try to make a case with the second side on the bottom ?
Hey thank you for the question We use only grain side to outer. Because it's better touch feeling . and durable. The other side should be skiived. It's messy. When we use this side without lining, applying a gum to surface to make it clean. Ihaven't see yet the flesh side to be outer ..
@@HahnsAtelier Thanks for your answer. What did you mean by applying a gum to surface to make it clean? Can I just use sandpaper to make flesh side less messy (I don't have tools to skiving), or it's not necessary if I don't use this side outside my case?
@@michalotron yeah~ we don't use sand paper on the flesh side. Only skive the leather and spread a gum or chemical liquid to make it less messy. You can put a lining inside without applying a gum. Why do you want the flesh to be the outer side? Is it because it feels softer? I'm afraid I haven't seen anyone who does that yet... If you want to make something with softer leather, why don't you use suede or fur leather. For this project, the thickness of leather is very important. It has to be very thin. If you don't have skiving machine or tools. You can ask your leather to be skived when you buy it(or just use thin material) :)
Beautiful looking case. Just a question though as ive seen this in two other videos by different youtubers. After skiving, a streak is left on the surface of the letter. How can this be avoided as the edge of the skiving foot digs in.

What's the line that runs down it at the camera hole? Did the case break right there and you repaired it or is it a line in the leather? Looks great you did a really good job especially adding the black liner on the inside. That was a nice touch

what glue did you use for the dark inlay?
What did you use to paste the leather on to the cover?
Gracias
Hello.. what is the adhesive you used on this project?
Do you have plans for a iPhone X horizontal holster ? Or a video
Unfortunately, Don't have Iphone X, If I have chance to get it I will make it. Thank you for asking!
what is the make/model of skiver you are using?

May I ask the thickness of the leather you used?
I love your work. I saw on some of your videos that you used software for your patterns . Can you give me his name? thank you
I will try too.. Thanks for share it..
what is thickness of 0.5t? I am only familiar with cm and mm.
0.5mm it is. :)

Could you provide a link to the plastic case? I couldn’t find one.

Thanks :)
Loved watching it! But what thickness is the leather, and which kind of glue did you use! Can't wait to recreate it myself :)
As thin as it will go and contact adhesive probably
Probably 1 oz and leather glue should work fine
Hey, very cool video and case!
What glue are you using and what's the sticky pad you sticked inside?
Hello there, here's the answer.
Glue : intercom ecostic (no smell, expensive)
Inside : artificial suede sticker(can find on google =D)

I wonder which glue do you use?
When I look for the plastic cover what do I search for
I searched pp plastic(hard not soft) I phone case. Expensive one does not need to buy. This will cover the outer surface with leather.
