    Are you happy with the decision to use 3.5" tubing for the rockers? I have been wanting to do this same thing, but had been considering 2x3" tubing. This looks great though.

      The 3.5" square tubing fit really well. They are holding up perfectly. A thinner wall would've been adequate though. I'm sure 2x3 could also be made to work well.

    Do you have the angles of the front and back, of the rock sliders that is? :)

    I always thought they'd have to be mounted to the frame? is this way strong enough?

      @dr.dansgarage  Год назад +1

      Yes, if you were making a hardcore rig that will be hitting rocks routinely, off the frame would be better. This project was partly for removing the rust. They are strong though. Way stronger than the stock sheetmetal.

    Hi Dr Dan nice job is the Airboat running and how well did it slide!!

      Not quite running yet. It’s been too cold to work outside. The weather is getting better so I should be able to finish it off soon. I’ll post a vid as soon as I get it sliding! Cheers

    How much hangover is their from the side of the body?

      Hmm, I don’t know exact, but not much. Probably about the same as the old plastic covers.

    Do your rock sliders sit lower than the frame rails?

    how did you weld the 3/16 sliders to the thin gauge rocker

    • @dr.dansgarage
      @dr.dansgarage  3 года назад +1

      Yeah it was a bit fussy. I used the mig. Lots of very short beads eventually got it all.

      Yes this seems the challenge even for me

    what welding machine do you use ? mig ?

    • @dr.dansgarage
      @dr.dansgarage  2 года назад

      Yes this was mig. I use a miller multimatic that does both mig and tig.
