Don't forget that PSY was the last one given this award back in 2013, after that, they stopped giving this award because no one is 'worthy' enough, but now BTS brought it back! I'm so proud!! 😀

You know you're a legend when award ceremony makes special VCR for the winner. No nominations, no voting whatsoever. Usually award ceremonies do this for "lifetime achievements" for living legends or to pay tribute for successful artist who had passed. And also Melon brought back this category because they know BTS deserve it. No one tell them to give it to BTS or to even bring it back after Psy won in 2013.
And today gaon chart awards did the same thing with the Contribution/Lifetime achievement award given to them as well!! Proud.
With that intro, artist of the year should be BTS. Lol melon.
