Thank you for the great video! So much valuable information. I downloaded the Cost vs. Value Report and easily found my city (I was shocked). This is invaluable as I now have an idea of what I need to begin a project. Thank you again!
Checking in from Portland. Just started working with our contractor's designer on a minor kitchen and primary bath update. My advice: don't rush the process. We are about two weeks in and the 3-D renders showed some areas that will need a little more tinkering. Glad we are taking the time to really study the renders and come up with the best design to meet our needs.
Perfect and good for you for not just rushing into it and taking your time with the details! Love this comment, thanks for watching and good luck on your project! 🙂
Hi! Yes, it takes zip code averages from the previous years. Our area in the Pacific NW is a lot more expenses especially on the labor cost as in other parts of the country. 🙂
87,000 !! Whats the square footage? Are you ripping out walls??? Top of the line cabinets?? How many cabinets ..... i really love my contractors now... you all get the workers from the same place thats crazy I had a contract to come and tell me to do a five by five bathroom for twenty five thousand I did it for under ten thousand and I put in a steam room.
Hi Gina!! Thanks for watching! Well, it all depends. And 87K is definilety not top of the line cabinets, I can put together a $150K cabinet package only for a kitchen if that is what the client wants. Please remember that a lot of the cost is driven by the client's overall scope of the project and all the materials the clients selects. Just like in fashion we have different brands. We can have a countertop estimate for 6K but we can also spend 15K on the same space if we go with a different material selection. Also, the labor cost varies greatly depending on where in the country you are located at. Another point is that when we discuss this topic, we mean our clients want us to handle everything including project management and design / construction drawings. If you are taking on the design and running your own project with hiring all the individual subcontractor's you are not comparing apples to apples. I'm happy you got your project done, sounds like a great bathroom with a steam room!! Take care!
That’s too expensive… Home Depot costs $20k-35k max… your rates are not normal at all!!!! Do you even find out what Home Depot or Lowe’s offers??? People are not dumb to spend $75k on a basic kitchen!!!
Hi Valorie, thank you for tuning in! Home Depot doesn't service full General Contracting and a full Kitchen Remodel. I wonder if you are comparing apples to apples? Or are you comparing a cabinet package and install? A kitchen remodel has lots more phases than that and the "rates" that we've discussed are from reported nationwide projects. Houzz collects this data and releases it every year. Those are not our "rates" those are national averages taken from real life projects around the country drilled down to the different areas in our case we've quoted the Pacific NW which could also be very different from your area in the country. Take care!!
😮 He's crazy. That's crazy amount of money I had those kind of contractors come out and quote me. Ridiculous prices and I'm remodeling my workers/contractors. I did a whole one bedroom unit just under 1000 sq ft And I'm talking rip a wall out sanded 2 wooden floors brand new bathroom brand new kitchen washer and dryer hookups new windows !!!!

@@ginacardarella All the numbers are based on a national report and project info collected by Houzz.
