  • I have struggled with cutting clean and accurate outlet holes in drywall too many times. I always end up frustrated and end up doing more drywall mudding than I care to. I discovered and the job has been made significantly easier. I have not been asked to do this review or been given anything for it. I just like to share with people when I find time savers like this. There are a few Amazon affiliate links in my description box below so you can find the product easily if you decide it may help you as well. Enjoy.

Wow with this you could hang Drywall in a whole house in a month.

For many a month would be too long - for my skill level - perhaps longer. Haha. All the best.

The drywall is supposed to be raised off of the floor 1/2" not set right on the floor. you do know that right?

Thank you for the comment. I have made plenty of mistakes learning to drywall. I have learned the hard way about keeping it up off the floor. I now put a shim under the bottom piece - but never as much as a 1/2”. I had thought keeping it tight to the floor would be better for air tightness but…. I will increase the gap to 1/2” in the next room. Thank you. All the best. Matt & Kat (Things).

Should the power be turned off first ??

Can’t argue with that idea - always the safer option. I personally felt the risk was acceptable. Thank you for the comment. All the best - Matt & Kat (Things).

the first sheet of drywall did not fit properly ,it was slightly larger and laid over the other piece, the sheet you put after you cut the hole fit perfectly ? what changed ?
    thanks

The first time I held it up I wasn’t concerned with the left to right measurement - just that I could hold it up pressed into right corner so I could use tool to locate electrical box. Once the box was located and the cut was made - I then cut the drywall to to proper width. I hope this makes sense. If not let me know 🙂. All the best. Matt & Kat (Things).

Have you heard of a rotozip guide point bit or x bit?

I have. At the time I didn’t really have the confidence to use one - and - the examples I had seen were so messy and required so much mud work I decided against it. I have since seen that In the right hand they are quite impressive. Thank you for the comment. All the best - Matt & Kat (Things).

Drywall is hung top to bottom.....ceiling first then top half horizontally across the wall then bottom half with a gap off the floor. I guess the tool could be useful.

What about double or triple boxes, or round or anything else.........

Admittedly this tool falls short in that regard. The majority of my multi-gang boxes were switched so they were at 48” - splitting the drywall seam so easy to cut around. I hope to graduate to a roto-zip like tool for my next project.
