I just never have time , I mean hats off to the woman back then lol but the advice I got of some is do the school run in my leggings and t shirt and then do the pick up in vintage which I'm slowly starting to do and I have never been happier
I must say, Jasmine looks beautiful whether in vintage or “modern” street clothes! I wish I had her sense of style in either type. Clothes back may have seemed “less practical” in some cases, but 40’s/50’s style had a fantastic flare and glamor that today’s fashion just can’t really compare (IMO). You would think, in this day and age, that people would be cool with someone CHOOSING their own style! Though, I love this video, I didn’t think she needed to explain why she chooses what she chooses. Why can’t, “I dress like this because I love it....” be enough of a reason unsaid? You’re a beauty, Jasmine. 🥰
chloe yep! I’m not a big fan of overrated items. People think just because you wear baggy clothes, means you listen to Billie and your “depressed” like geez
chloe I love “boy colors” people seem to think I’m a tomboy, not even close. I love “boy colors “ with dresses.I think gender coded colors are dumb, but “boy colors” are apparently the colors I like according to Wikipedia sooo.. I love girly pieces, I also love pink, tbh I don’t wear bright colors, that’s all I would say. My fav colors are orange and baby blue

Cherneisha Rhinehart how about u let people do what they want? yeah the 50s was a bad time in a lot of ways but people can still appreciate the fashion and dress that way because they like how it looks.
Cherneisha Rhinehart you can have vintage fashion without vintage mentality. the fashion wasn’t a symbol of oppression. as long as you accept people for their sexuality, gender, disability, and race or ethnicity. it shouldn’t matter how you dress. the people i’ve seen be vintage are mostly women and especially lesbians and women of color, so we can do whatever we want :)

I started dressing vintage bc of a friend. I always loved old Hollywood but I tried so hard to fit in as a teen that it never occurred to me to dress vintage. My friend took me to a second hand shop and since then I've started wearing a mix of styles depending on the day but I won't lie sometimes the anxiety of being judged does make me feel uncomfortable and want to change but at the end of the day it is just as uncomfortable to dress for others and be untrue to yourself.
I love when people dress “different”. I’ve always been “weird” but always being the weird girl and dressing for me is what made me feel confident and pretty.
it blows my mind that certain people are that bold & forward in public to complete strangers, the people that stare or even followed you into a restaurant just to look at you, that's not normal behavior on their part. you are spot on, you do what makes you happy, it's your life & you have to live it, there is no point conforming to what you think other people want you to look like. I see it with people my age & younger that are even frightened to post that they listen to older music. It's insane how scared they are to be judged or "outed" & labeled as "weird" or "odd". We're not all sheep that have the same tastes in music/film/fashion/decor ect, I find those who are individuals burn the brighest & are the most interesting souls. I don't dress vintage so "fit" in with everyday society but I have a passion for history & collect Titanic memorabilia & love old things & I still get people looking at me different once they find out I don't have the live, laugh, love ornament & silver velvet headboard. The difference between me and them is I don't care nor wouldn't think to judge them on their taste in trendy fashion/decor but they would say it to my face. I've had my own family label me as strange for being in my twenties & not doing what every other twenty something girl does in their eyes. You do feel like an outsider on the cusp of society because of these clowns.
I love how she got so excited while she was talking she said "And you know what?" to the camera! It makes it feel like she's really just talking to you as her friend
Confidence is the most beautiful thing. Everyone should dress in whatever makes them happy. I've been dressing in gothy clothes since I was a kid and have added more vintage inspired things to that over the years. I get a lot of stares and rude comments but I couldn't care less. People who act that way are just jealous that they don't have the strength to express who they are so they live with bitterness and fear instead. Their opinions mean nothing to me because I love myself as is. Off topic. What nail polish are you wearing? I'm always looking for good reds and that one is beautiful!
Thank you for sharing Jasmine 🥺💖 I remember pin curling my hair for the first time and it felt amazing. I’m still learning how to integrate more vintage clothing into my everyday style.

I'm a sister in the NHS and so most days I wear navy dresses. Outside of work I do dress vintage. However, when I'm at work, I always make sure my hair and makeup is in a 40/50s sort of style. I went to work with my hair in a poodle a few days ago and I had people actually stopping me to tell me how beautiful my hair was 😂😂😂 xxx
Jasmine.. You Are Fabulous ! .. i think the reason people Look at you is Because you’re Absolutely Gorgeous.. People that put others down are doing so to make theirselves feel better .. U look Great and your confidence is inspirational! 😘😀❤️
Love you just the way you are♥️!!! I’ve tried for years to muster up the courage to do what you did, but now I’m 52 and think it would be strange if I suddenly made that change. Thank you for sharing. I’m in San Diego but hope to bump into you one day in Burbank while vintage shopping 🛍 Look after yourself!!
Same girl. My hair is waist long. But, it has been Jasmines length too. I feel more comfortable with long hair. I think I am a 60's kinda girl. LOL. But I have always loved MM. and I just love Jasmine.
Plenty of women had long hair during those decades: Think Deanna Durbin, Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall, and Ella Raines. Don't let your hair get in the way, Luana.

@@Freetown00 OK, Durbin left Hollywood in 1949, but pictures I have seen of her during the 1950s show long hair. Love your story and confidence! Just curious-what made you choose Marilyn as a beauty inspo instead of Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner or Jane Russell? I noticed in your throwback photos that you have darker hair.
Angyliv no, she had white hair growing up, then it gradually shifted to strawberry blonde, then it switched over to a dirty blonde/light brown. it was never red though. seems as though you may want to do some more research as it took me 2 seconds of googling to validate that with valid sources. even her own first husband described her as having “dark ash blonde” hair in 2 of his books. :-)
Yes, because you can queen!!!! Keep being you!! Fashion and beauty throughout the years is so fascinating. I love vintage and modern pieces. I think incorporating and mixing piece is not only fun but you find things that work for you and maybe even be apart of your style
I have always wanted to dress vintage. I feel like an old soul tbh, 20's-50's music make me feel at home. Modern clothes don't fit my body shape and sometimes that makes me cry. Especially jeans, i hate them.
You know how certain items and outfits you put on sometimes just give you that extreme sense of joy and boost your confidence so much? i tried wearing some knee high black leather boots today which is SO out of my usual style (more casual, comfy) and I felt GLORIOUS!! ❤️ It really is a matter of stepping out of your comfort zone isnt it?? I‘m gonna try to be a bit more brave as well!! Thanks for sharing your journey love xx
The smile on your face when you start talking about your wardrobe or finding vintage shoes for cheap. Your excitement is infectious! You are obviously happy and it makes you happy to be true to yourself. I think it’s wonderful. I would love to dress from the 1940’s.

I'm honestly struggling with the confidence when it comes to dressing vintage ... but seeing you made me dress like it as well (from time to time though ^^)
Every time I see someone dressed as you dress , I am in awe because I love the idea of living in that time. I used to listen to stories from my nana who was a teenager in the 50’s. The ppl who watch you at restaurants are probably enjoying watching like you enjoy watching a tv show. Because it’s like a flashback in time right in front of them. You are so beautiful and you are definitely encouraging me to dress as the 50’s housewife’s did. I am so interested and definitely think I would benefit from the schedule they would keep( my husband would love it) with cleaning the house and cooking all the meals. I have an hourglass shape but I am heavier. I wear leggings and a T-shirt most days lol!
Yes queen!!!!! 👑 ❤ Another 50s lady here! I always feel so pretty and feminine in my vintage clothing so I just changed my whole wardrobe a few years ago! ❤
I can relate to you so much I been loving 1950s since I was really young and I dressed with trending clothes because I honestly don’t want people thinking I’m crazy but later in the future I hope I dress the way I actually want to dress because I feel like I didn’t find my style yet but deep inside I know I want to dress like the 50s
Aww you’re darling! I just found your channel and you see like the sweet girl. I do find that when I dress vintage most people are nice & even pay compliments. And of course it’s the sweetest when older ladies come up & say how they remember dressing that way. It makes me smile 😊
i’m a teenager and i want to dress vintage so bad but, i don’t have the confidence. my peers think i’m weird as is. can’t wait to get out of school so i can be myself 😔
That is 100% true! Dressing vintage in public builds up your confidence bc not many people dress nice anymore. Modern day clothes are very boring. Once you get into vintage you get so happy and excited to dress up in public. Also bc you can be different from everyone else. ❤️❤️❤️

I love your message in the video. I dressed vintage in high school I just never cared what people said or thought- because they were talking bad about me already and I LOVED the style. I hate that I got away from the style I loved the best. Especially the red lips and heels! It is not too late to go back, adapted slightly to accommodate mom life of younger kiddos I am chasing after. Thanks for the video!

For me it's Audrey Hepburn but I could never pull off a pixie cut as I have a long face
marilyn was a natural brunette too ya know?
Gia K no, was redhead!!! It’s obviously you don’t know anything about She...
You do you! You don’t have to explain yourself! People can be rude, please don’t let it bring you down 💕
Yes, because you can queen!!!! Keep being you!! Fashion and beauty throughout the years is so fascinating. I love vintage and modern pieces. I think incorporating and mixing piece is not only fun but you find things that work for you and maybe even be apart of your style
i wish more ppl dress like you ,50s style is so beautiful
I have always wanted to dress vintage. I feel like an old soul tbh, 20's-50's music make me feel at home.
Modern clothes don't fit my body shape and sometimes that makes me cry. Especially jeans, i hate them.
I love your style!!!❤❤❤❤ I'm all about that era!! I'm so happy I found your channel!!🥰🥰
Omg can you do a get ready with me video!!!! I want to see you do your hair and makeup.
You have the sweetest laugh!!! I admire you so much! Keep doing what you’re doing! I 100% support you!!!
The smile on your face when you start talking about your wardrobe or finding vintage shoes for cheap. Your excitement is infectious! You are obviously happy and it makes you happy to be true to yourself. I think it’s wonderful. I would love to dress from the 1940’s.
Love you and Maverick. Fun seeing your videos together. I miss dressing in my vintage clothes. But life gets so busy these days. Keep doing what you do. Enjoy your life. 😊
i was having a bad day today, and your videos have helped me so much! ❤️
I have been binge watching your channel the last couple of days since I just found your RUclips channel and Instagram (late to the party, I know) but I just want to say I am obsessed! You are amazing. And adorable. And your style is so fabulous! I love your energy, you are so positive and kind and it is exactly what we need in this world. I am sorry people were mean to you. I am glad you still persevere! Know that you are a bright light for my life and one of my newest inspirations. Please continue always being you! Much love, a new fan
I feel like they stare because you are beautiful and fully encompass the era. You literally shine.
You can feel your confidence radiating out of the screen! Girl, you do you. It suits you
I've always wanted to dress vintage but when you're 6'1" it's nearly impossible ,lol ! It's hard enough dressing modern being this height
I've always wanted to be tall lol I'm 5'3"
Not if you are from the Netherlands though there it is harder if you're short XD like me ;)
I’m 6ft tall and I dress vintage 😊
@@Allie_Lileswhere do you find your vintage clothing ?! 🙂
Jenny T Vixen by Micheline Pitt & her other label La Femme En Noir 😊
I love this so much. I have always been most comfortable in older-style clothes (now that I am in my forties, it doesn't draw as much attention), and I hope more people who want to, find the courage to wear what they really like.
Maybe they stared because you look so lovely and they’re also thinking “humnn wish I could be that bold but look so lovely!”
i love this ! your so authentic , that's very rare nowadays , it shows that you don't have to follow the modern standard of clothing !! keep doing u girl
I love this. Very inspiring. And I love that you dont try to convince others to dress the way you do. We can all dress what makes us feel good. I'm happy you found something to overcome your insecurities. Keep being you! 🥰
Watching this video makes me realize that I'll have to slowly take time with the styles I really want try. Thank you for being so brave Jasmine, continue being you! 💞
I love this! I've always been attracted to 50s style and hair and I do incorporate a lot of 50s or timeless pieces into my everyday style. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. So excited to watch more of your videos. I really love Unique Vintage online for vintage clothes made today.
Vintage suits you so well, it’s like you were plucked right from the 50s and sat down in 2020 ❤️ you’re gorgeous!
You look gorgeous both ways, as long as your happy, that’s all that matters
You come across as such a sweet and genuinely nice person and therefore will always be beautiful, true beauty comes from within so the rest should just be what makes you happy 💗
Jasmine, you are gorgeous and such a breath of fresh air!! You’ve quickly become of my favorite personalities. So genuine and truly grateful for everything that you have! Much love ❤️
often times people stare in an admiring way. I often find myself staring at women who I find beautiful or have a really cool style.
Another 50s lady here!
I would love to dress vintage but I do not have the confidence at all. I admire your confidence 🥰
You’re a literal angel and inspiration! I’m so sorry people are so mean and judgmental!
YASSSS IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS VID
The whole style of the 50s is just much better than today! Almost everything about the 1950s was better than today. Almost
ah yes the 50s... much better than today... if you.. ignore the socially acceptable racism and homophobia
@@withlovegabriella yeah besides that it was amazing
@@withlovegabriella That's what made it good.
Bless you❤️❤️❤️❤️ you are so unique and your content is so different and authentic! Truly refreshing to see!!!! Keep going
I really want to know where she gets her clothes from. I love her style so much 🥺❤️
Dang. I Iove your personality and whole vintage look.
i’m a teenager and i want to dress vintage so bad but, i don’t have the confidence. my peers think i’m weird as is. can’t wait to get out of school so i can be myself 😔
That is 100% true! Dressing vintage in public builds up your confidence bc not many people dress nice anymore. Modern day clothes are very boring. Once you get into vintage you get so happy and excited to dress up in public. Also bc you can be different from everyone else. ❤️❤️❤️
You’re absolutely delightful and look fire in your vintage gear!
I love vintage! I would totally wear it. I'm curvier so it's a bit hard to find items that suit me the best, but I still love vintage.
LR check out Vixen by Micheline Pitt. My measurements are 32-28-42 and I’m 6ft tall. I have no problem fitting into her clothes, and they’re vintage repro/inspired
You’re the cutest person🤍 I love you so much and you’re amazing ! It’s crazy how clothes and hair and makeup can make you feel so much more secure ! I used to be a brunette and went blonde a couple years ago too and it changed my life too!✨😊
Your'e so Brave Miss Jasmin! it takes great confidence and bravery to be your true self despite what others around you expect you to be. You've truly inspired me
I just saw and prescribed to you today. You are just the cutest thing. I've always wanted to dress vintage. I was going to make my clothes, so that's what stopped me, I never got around to making them. Now I'm going to try and find vintage.
i feel like you’re encouraging so many people to dress vintage without even trying😌
Sometimes we have to find or reinvent ourself to feel comfortable in our own skin. You’re beautiful then and you’re beautiful now. Vintage suits you well. ✨💖 I have ‘50s & ‘60s style clothes I wear to work off and on. My co-workers asked me where I shop and they started dressing like me. Love you much❣️
Im 43 and are going to start dressing vintage. This video really helped as I am really nervous. Its something I have always wanted to do. I'm study history at university and I find different trends fascinating. Thank you for posting this video x x
Soap & Glory should sponsor you! You’re so lovely and authentic 💕
I love Marilyn Monroe ❤️ and the fact you dress like her is awesome 💋
I love your message in the video. I dressed vintage in high school I just never cared what people said or thought- because they were talking bad about me already and I LOVED the style. I hate that I got away from the style I loved the best. Especially the red lips and heels! It is not too late to go back, adapted slightly to accommodate mom life of younger kiddos I am chasing after. Thanks for the video!
your accent 😭😭❤️✨❤️ i love you and your channel!!!
When it comes to fifties clothing, I’m with ya! I’ve done it for years now and have no intention of changing.
I used to dress vintage and still have 50s rock and roll dresses in my closet 💗
I love dressing vintage too! 1950s is where it’s at for outfits!
I think the reason why people judge is because you found the strength and the courage to stand out from the crowd and to be yourself
All I can say people gotta attend rockabilly carshows because you see many people dressing vintage! I honestly find it so cool when people dress 1950s, all about appreciating and embracing an era that no longer exists! People should dress whatever makes your heart happy!
I love how positive you are. confidence is beauty
Well we love you and your style Jasmine so don’t listen to the negativity! 💕🙂
We’re authentic in many ways that’s being true to yourself even if you dress like the 50’s .
She looks great! I also prefer vintage clothes, dress and makeup over current ones. I think they were more flattering for both men and women
Really enjoyed this video! Good for you for doing what makes you happy! I love your style, I wish everyone still dressed vintage! I would love to see a video about Scotland and your experience coming to the states. The differences and what brought you here! Also how Scottish people react to vintage dressing! Hope you're having a lovely day! 😘
