You set the standard for others to aspire to. Excellent work and content, amazing woods and exotic sounding names are very interesting to learn about. Thankyou.
Oh my goodness, the grain of this tree is so beautiful and unusual. Not being familiar with tree growth, I still find myself wondering how these grains were formed. You have a real treasure in this one. Very nice filming, too, I loved the close-ups. Thank you for sharing. God bless.
It is the trace of the annual growth of the bark of a tree. A tree trunk cut through shows the rings of every year of its life. It's a living being: we have to think on this.
This is a Keyaki tree. The Japanese elm species is known for the straight growth of its branches. The round areas are the inner bases of the branches. Wonderful tree, good job, top notch! Many greetings from Germany!
Some of these exotic species are so interesting to me, I build electric solid body guitars as a hobby and enjoy highly figured wood for the body caps. This one is very ash like in its grain.
Regardless of where this mill is, i am surprised to see just two people operating it. The other thing that took me by surprise is the different woods they manage to get their hands on. I have a ready library of timeds and so far they have cut up four trees i have never seen or heard of, and they are not in the books. I have to admit that its one of those mills that i would love to visit for a day, they make the job look easy, when one only has to look at the slabs thet take off, they must be a good six to eight inches thick, and goodness knows what length, a good video, well worth watching.
My Dear Late Dad and My 3 Brothers had a Sawmill when I was a Young Girl. When Dad had our House Built He would Especially Pick out the Beautiful Wood with the Awesome Grains in it. To Use for the Doors throughout Our House. The Grains in this Old Log remind Me of Days Long Gone. Just Super Stunning. xox
Now that's a Mom and Pop sawmill - Impressive. Probably 75-100 year old equipment? and built to last. Hands on the wood, eye of a master how to make the best use of this wonderful piece.
Gorgeous grain! Distinctive, clear, no knots. The Zelkova tree I planted in my yard probably won't make it to two hundred years and have such character. Somebody will cut it down for firewood or to plant something mundane after I've croaked and the property gets sold.
You are both definitely artists you can see just how to get the most out of what you are cutting wow he grain in hat wood is magnificent Thanks awesome Vidio ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your video. It was interesting to see how much work goes into cutting the tree into beautiful, useful wood. You both work together very good. I loved the knots in the tree, so interesting. I would have liked to known the history of such an ancient tree and why it had to be cut down. Or maybe it fell down.
I once visited two warehouses (15 x 30 meters each) which were stacked to the ceilings with the most amazing figured Walnut slabs have ever seen. Apparently, the well to do owner collected these as a hobby. My gracious me.
Thanks for the lots of comments! ! (*^_^*) I'm doing trial and error with the camera work, hoping to convey a sense of realism to the viewers. I'm very happy☆
@@kirishimasawmill Well all I can say is that you're doing a fantastic job as the camera man or maybe woman. The result is very crisp and other than the fact that the main purpose is filming the log being cut onto slabs, you manage to wander around between pauses showing us all all the rest that's going on in a free flowing continuity and with grace.
A long time ago I was a sawmill engineer ,so I always find it fascinating to see the same methods of breaking down large logs in different countries. Where I worked we were cutting logs bigger than that but were almost 1000 years old .The timber was worth an absolute fortune with no price restrictions on it . We ran a twin blade head rig before changing to a 9' band saw. See the band saw here doesn't have cooling water.
I have a farm here n Ireland and I cut a tree down every year for fire wood I made a log splitter for the back of the tractor and I chop the timber up I absolutely love that week every year I wish I was doing it full time
Those odd pieces that are first taken off would make fantastic tables and pieces of furniture of distinction, very unique. I love how respectful they are of the tree and it’s wood Those holes could be filled with epoxy of different colors and made into something stunning .
Mesmerizing to watch, but strange that they use a vertical saw instead of a horizontal one. With a big board, the weight of the part already cut makes the blade seize up, no?
As the glory of the grain of the wood so is the labor's full of glory and goodness. Masters of their craft and highly appreciated. Thanks for sharing your lives with us.
Nice medium sized log. Put a strap and trolley on the out-feed side. You will be able to cut the whole slab in one pass. Your throughput will also be much higher since you won't have to mess with the chain saw and the extra back and forth carriage travels to break the slab free from the cant.
