This one is bittersweet to go back to because both Paul Walker and director John Singleton have passed away. It's weird and fun going back to these earlier movies, before all the characters got their mutant powers and secret agent skills, back when they were more or less still human.

@@AJ-eb2bw Hobbs and Shaw counts. And everyone else has weird powers too. The insane amount of punishment, Tej becoming an Oracle level tech expert, Vin's wild displays of enhanced strength. All of them spent time in the Weapon x program.

No lie this is my favorite of the series. It has so much classic 2000s style and the characters are so fun and amazing. Tyrese was such a fantastic edition and it’s kind of a shame that his character has been altered so much . John Singleton (RIP) was such a great edition and I always felt they should have brought him back to direct more. Paul Walker’s cringy street talk is also insanely hilarious because his character always feels like the white boy tryna fit in too hard.
PS: all hail Brian’s Skyline
People dont realize a race track has as much rules as the road, you cant just drive however you please there either it just doesn't have a speed limit 🤣🤣🤣
The girl who played suki had never driven before coming to America for this very part. She learned over the course of 3 weeks and was one of their best precision drivers, Paul walker was an amazing stunt driver in real life so the fact that he said she could drive well made me have tons of respect for her.
I like the movies, I just watch them for nostalgia and silly moments.
Tyrese is pure comedy gold
Fun behind the scenes fact: The purple car was supposed to have yellow seats but they had to change it last minute because Tyrese saw it and said: "Hell no, I ain't driving no Lakers car"
EJECTO SEATO CUZ!! Easily the funniest movie in the franchise, for both intentional and unintentional reasons. Tyrese should really do more comedy focused roles cause I think that's what he does best and he brings a lot of funny to this movie and the series as a whole.
Tyrese was great in this movie, they downplayed his role later on.
i think it was more "toned down" than downplayed. he had a big personality in this one, which was perfect for a movie with a smaller leading cast but the next movies in the series that he's involved in are basically ensemble movies. as much fun as it would've been to see more of him, i wouldn't've have enjoyed it if it was at the cost of getting to know some of the other characters better
I dunno if he was downplayed, but they definitely shifted him more into the comedic role, which is something they established here. Can’t have too many bald guys in the same movie trying to be badass haha. I did appreciate Paul Walker’s Brian kinda being the only one not falling for Tyrese’s Roman’s tough-guy schtick. So by the time the movies shift to a more ensemble piece, he really is just the comic relief.

Tokyo Drift was the direction they should of gone in imo, stand alone stories.

Fun fact, the scene where he crashed into the meter wasnt meant to be. Paul asked to drive that scene him self and crashed into the meter. They kept it because it was just too good
This movie is my favorite out of them all. I can literally quote the entire script 😂😂 And I loved the chemistry between Paul and Tyrese here. Also…… Carter Verone was fiiiiiiine 👀
Singleton did his thing on this and Ja dropped the ball cause Tyrese got a whole new career off this franchise alone 😂

I remember a when Tokyo was first announced, there was a report that it would star Vin Diesel hiding out in Tokyo.

I think it’s the second to worst one, this being the worst, however the ending cameo makes it totally worth watching
If they're watching in order they shouldn't be watching that one after 2Fast
Top 4 of the movies in my opinion. There were actual races and casting was great. Even with the occasional ridiculous parts. I miss this era of the franchise. It was more raw and had actual heart and was able to do so while being fun.
1st movie: fast & furious
2nd movie: 2 fast & 2 furious
87th movie: fast as fuck & furious as hell
This is my favorite in the Fast Saga. It's hilarious! Also just brings me back to the time, that song from Ludacris and "ejecto seato cuz" is classic lol.

My favorite in the franchise ngl Nothing is better than Brian & Rome ft. Tej & Suki! Bilkins and Markham are funny, Verone is freaking cool and Eva Mendes is the goddess! Damn...I really miss Paul Walker.

Saw this in theatres on opening night and was cool.
I watched again on the DVD when I rented this movie from blockbuster.
The Turbo-Charged Prelude was dope and a good catch-up story with Brian.
I did like the other characters, friends and villians.
Tej (Luda) and Roman (Ty) were nice additions.
Especially Roman with his snarky, anger and funny demeanor.
2F 2F has a cooler blend of tones.
The 'buddy action' thing was a nice touch.
The driving was still on point (as always).
The post-credit sequence was fun cause it looked like a video game.
Soon after that, Fast and Furious games were coming out.
The late, great John Singleton made all kinds of movies for 20 years.
Rarely is he mentioned when talking about The Fast Saga.
Because he made a movie that was a good 'first' sequel and it would lead to bigger things.
The Brian & Roman partnership worked so well because Paul Walker & Tyrese Gibson were the best of pals.
I heard they had the time of their lives working together.
Like brothers, almost Inseparable.
Between the behind-the-scenes stuff and interviews, you could see a genuine friendship.
For the next movie in the Fast series, I recommend skipping Tokyo Drift and going straight to Fast and Furious (the 4th one). After Fast and Furious 6, then you should watch Tokyo Drift. Regarding the storyline, it makes more sense to do it this way

My brother smacked a pole at a 100 and how from the car and all he had was minor cuts. He didn't even need to go to the hospital. Weird things can happen with crashes.

Lot of people forget the great John Singleton directed this one. This is his only action movie in his resume
First few minutes I could no concentrate because of shoes indoors. XD
crazy side note: Suki was 16 during the filming and lied to the directors saying she was 18 so she could be in the role. Ludacris was constantly flirting with a kid. No fault of his im sure, but still kinda wild.

the reason hes driving on the right side is because that's a Japanese import. japan cars have their steering wheels on the right like britan, India, south africa and malta.

know this is a super old video, But fun fact about the Bridge scene. they actually jumped Sukis s2000. Except for the rx7. it took multiple s200s and weeks of planning to do it safety.

the fast and furious franchise is my favorite movie franchise in general but I think the movies have declined in quality after fast 5. 6&7 weren't that bad honestly and I would be very satisfied if they ended it with the 7th movie. 8&9 were over the top, nothing to do with cars anymore, more of a sci-fi movie than an action movie about cars yk? But I still love the franchise and no matter what I say I still go and watch all of the movies bc I'm attached with the cast and the dynamic! I enjoy your reactions a lot, I'm anticipating tokyo drift a lot!👍😎

The way I recall the whole Vin Diesel thing and sequels thing going down was like he was basically "we don't do sequels because sequels are always failures, so I'm gonna go do new things" (we don't mention Aliens at this point), but somehow was persuaded into doing Chronicles of Riddick which was a fairly big success and was then basically "actually.." - and the rest is history as they say. My view on sequels is if you don't make them a pure cash-grab and have a good art reason for doing them and a valid story - go for it. Without sequels we wouldn't have John Wick 2 and 3 (and soon 3 and 4) and that would make me sad.
I got into it a bit with Joseph Mallozzi (yes, that one) on twitter over 2f2f, because it's actually one of my favourites in the series and tokyo drift one of my least favourite, and he sees it the opposite way - I'm right, he's wrong. Sure 2f is flawed in some ways but it's a bunch of fun and sets up a lot of things that happen later and introduces some great characters.
The only reason he did the cameo in TD (which led to him coming back to the franchise) is because Universal gave him the rights to the Riddick franchise. He wanted to make another Riddick and Universal wouldn't allow it. He got the rights to Riddick and then went on to make another (or 2).
At the time he had 3 franchises coming at him.. The F&F films. The XXX movies and The Riddick movies. He wanted to focus on Riddick. But decided to come back to FF. And completed the Riddick trilogy and he did one more XXX movie

Believe it or not we still have mad race weekends like this where I live in the UK it's still big culture down here, we also have numerous events across the country all year round, a track right next to where I live also hosts the championship drift finals or have done. I attended one year and the parties in the evening are insane, also the drivers allow you to walk around their cars and really have a good look
