There is no way Big Bank Hank had ANY part in writing those rhymes. He wasnt even a rapper at the time. Caz probably had dozens of rhyme books and didnt even really know what Hank needed it for. Remember rap records wasnt even a thing back then. Rhymes were written to be performed live and everyone in the area already knew who's rhymes they were so Caz probably saw no harm in letting him check out one of his many rhyme books. It wasnt like he could perform them in the area and claim that he wrote them. Caz let a person that he saw as harmless borrow the book without knowing his intentions.

    1 he trusted Hank. 😞
Hank said "I rapped what was on the tape". He knew he did Caz dirty and he wasn't rapping, rapping. Otherwise like Caz said he would have said that's not me I'm not a rapper.
If it was his music, his art he was invested in he'd have said something more personal like I did some of my lyrics that I had on tape.
I get it, it was different times as far as hip hop in mainstream music business, copyright, royalties and etc.
Still even if he said I wanna use some of your rhymes, did Caz agree which ones. Did Hank offer any money for it or acknowledge him which, clearly, Caz thought he should/would at some point?
I think all things considered Caz got stung because of the culture at the time and the misplaced trust he had in a 'friend' its a shame. He should get paid now.

And plus Caz said sure to giving Hank the RYHMES and should have asked more questions when Hank ASKED to use his stuff.

The Competency and Capacity element of a legal contract wasn’t there. There was also no Consideration meaning Caz should have received something in return for allowing Hank to use his lyrics either. Any verbal agreements between the two would have been void.
It’s messed up that he slipped and said whatever but he would not be bound by it in a courtroom.
Wonder if he ever talked to a lawyer about it?
Probably was too cool for all that felt he would surpass Hank in the industry anyway, eventually, because his lyrics were obviously on that hit level.
He still should’ve sued Hank down to his Hanes. 😎

Everytime there´s an anniversary, evrytime there´s a sugar hill gang reunion etc it keeps coming back at him. It won´t go away. And now there´s talk of that track being in a hall of fame or something like that, Caz has now put a move on to get recognition for the lyrics if it´s to be inducted into any hall of fame and that means a lawsuit and getting paid from now on and back pay. People that write lyrics on top tracks earn multiples 1000´s every year and anyone would say yes to that including Caz. nypost.com/2014/01/26/writing-cred-for-rappers-delight-sparks-grudge/

When Sugarhill Gang started making money, everyone emerged looking for their cut. Big Bank Hank was a fraud he used his friends rhymes…… and he didn’t even have the decency to Let her know who his friend was….
    HE MISREPRESENTED HIMSELF!
He couldn’t bring them in because he wasn’t honest from the beginning….

Caz should quit bitching and moaning. He gave Hank permission... he admitted that he did.
While I do believe that Caz was the better writer and probably wrote most of the stuff, he and Hank worked together for years, so I believe it when Hank says they wrote some stuff together.
Why didn't Caz sue for royalties? He knows that his claim is bullshit.
Hank was a great rapper and the fans loved him on the Mike.
Haters like Melle Mel are jealous to this day because Rappers Delight was much bigger and loved more than anything he ever released.
