Hi Terry , add Stereo to your header . I love watching your videos to spot Receivers , Amps and speakers . Thank You for sharing your time with all of Us !
A wonderful tour of paradise for collectors ... ) Thank you. I am from Ukraine, I have a large private collection of old radio equipment from all over the world, including more than 10 radios from the USA. Unfortunately, we are not into entertainment right now, but I really want to visit Kutztown or Farmington Hills after the war and add to my collection tube radios from the 20s and 30s.
Interesting video. I love the old tube stuff! I saw under one of the tables what looked like a Garod V Neutrodyne, but couldn't tell for sure. I hope to have a working one before too terribly long. It is a TRF type receiver, battery powered. Thanks for sharing the video! Say hi to Marsha for me! Ciao!
Thanks for posting, sorry I missed this expo! With all the starting and stopping I did to look at items and pricing, this took me over 3 hours to watch. Not complaining, I was loving it!
It is always a lot of fun to watch you and your "Much better looking other half" go to the swap meet/hamfest/antique radio shows. Thanks Marcia and Terry!
Thanks for the interview at 1:04:15 of your video. There aren't many places to advertise a specialty craft. Consequently, many radio people don't know that there are reproduction knobs and rubber parts available from RenovatedRadios.com. No reason for radios to have a knob or two missing anymore. Thanks for your excellent video work.
yes the opening music is being actually played thru an aux input on the Zenith console you see. We were using a portable battery CD player thru an aux input cord patched into the volume control. No switches, no holes drilled, EASY !!! I just add 100 ohms or so half watt resistors in series with each hot audio lead, then "Y" them down to the high side of the vol control. Shield goes to the low side. I use 3.5mm stereo male to male cords, cut the 6' ones in half and use the 3' cord, run it thru any existing hole and tie a strain relief knot in it on both sides of chassis.
This event is definitely awesome, Terry... thanks for sharing. 32:00 Yup... those things are cool....I had one of those Speech Synthesis projects when I was little. It would say "oooo" or "aaahhhh" or "eehhhh" or "eerrrr" or "uuhhhh" etc etc etc, depending on the R/C combinations. :-)

You have to be in the Midwest or East Coast to see this much stuff at a show. Its where all the stuff is. Get to these VEE events in Michigan or the two "Antique Radio" shows in Kutztown, PA , one is May 10-11 the other is Sept 20-21. I sell parts at the fall one only. I'm the guy at 22:15 in the video. Antique Audio, Mark

Both have "trunk sale" events. Some events in the Denver, Portland and Seattle areas too. But, you really gotta come east for this assortment. Chicago area has a show early August- www.antique-radios.org/schedule.html , Charlotte, NC has one coming Mar.22-23 www.cc-awa.club , Kutztown, PA has two, one in May one in Sept www.renningers.com , New England Antique Radio Club has one coming Mar. 3 www.antique-radios.org/schedule.html , Mid Atlantic Antique Radio Club has one June 27-30 www.maarc.org/ Those are the all the biggies. The Kutztown ones are the biggest and have the really nicest stuff. I sell parts at the Sept. one every year. All these shows are outdoor flea markets, some have indoor seminars and such, except the Michigan ones are both indoors. Kutztown is under two 300' X 60' pavilions.
Nice job. Looks like a lot of fun. I enjoyed the days of grass root publications and shows like this before eBay came along and made everybody a “genius”😂
Prices are WAY less now for many things than they were 10-15 yrs ago ! And, the Bargain Auction at the end... wow.... super cheap stuff there. Every VEE has a Bargain Auction at the end. 3pm Saturday for either the winter or summer show.
I am getting my load ready for the Kalamazoo VEE July 19-20 2019. Will have tons of stuff, tube amps, tuners, tubes, misc parts of all kinds. Hope to see many of you there ! Mark Oppat Antique Audio, Plymouth, MI
At our summer VEE we get a guy comes every year from New Zealand... he plans his vacation around it ! Has relatives in the Midwest somewhere too so maybe that is a pull too.
First time I've been to one too, just recently got into restoring old tube radios. Should have brought more money, kept on getting outbid on the boxes of tubes. :-)
terry, i'm looking forward to visit one of this exhibit/sale of vintage electronics, but i'm here in toronto, and right now only blowing snow/blizzard is here almost daily!
National treasures, I mean the characters as well as the equipment. It's like with the old tractors and vintage cars and such. The wealth of knowledge, experience and just history assembled in those halls. Who is going to fill their shoes? Would love to attend such a show over in the 'States , perhaps next year.
we welcome all foreign visitors to our shows ! We have regulars from Canada, of course, but also from Australia and France have come in the past, that we know of.
D lab you have the nicest wife, she even gets involved is really cool, I tried to explain to mine how a feild coil speaker works and it was explaining trigonometry to a 3 year old.
Terry does have the nicest wife , I've experienced her hospitality when I visited, Terry and Marcia are gracious hosts , I'm fortunate to live in the same area as D-Lab! Cheers!
Initial. I think that visitors have to charge for entrance. Because it looks like a very interesting Museum of radio engineering ! From the twenties to the 90s ! Do not need alcohol after such exhibitions of electronics sales begins to feel dizzy heh :)! The author thank you for video ! Second. In modern electronics there is no soul and a rich historical past.
38:30, those optivisor magnifying headbands are very high quality and the lenses, which are swappable and replaceable, are glass, not plastic. Unfortunately, the sets usually don't come with anything higher than a number 3 diopter lens, pretty much useless for my old eyes. At work I mostly use #5 and #7 diopter, and occasionally number 10 lenses, which I had to buy online.
Terry, thanks for showing this. I live in Jacksonville Florida and no such events here, but I would love to go to one, one day. Good to see you and Marica... appreciate the walk thru. I did send an email to Ed regarding some knobs I am looking for so thanks for the connection. Thanks Ron
The only large vintage radio/electronics event in the south is in Charlotte, NC, coming March 22-23 at the Sheraton Charlotte Airport hotel. Its been there 25 years now, and like many of these shows, is not well advertised. I am a parts vendor at that show each year too. Website is here : cc-awa.club/antique-radio-charlotte Its been an all-outdoor flea market for all these years with indoor auctions and seminars. The hotel there offers a real discount deal- usually around $85 for a night, with indoor pool. There is another smaller show in Atlanta, put on by the Southeastern Antique Radio Society www.sarsradio.com/swap%20meets-d.htm. Note, these are known as "Antique Radio Swap Meets" and do not have as much stuff or attendance as the show in this video but you will see similar stuff. If you have a particular interest area, its worth making a flyer about it with all your contact info and drop one on each seller's table. You will be amazed what you might turn up since most sellers only bring a tiny fraction of what they have to the shows (too much to haul for older folks!). Since re-branding to "The Vintage Electronics Expos" in 2015 , this show has more than doubled attendance. The Michigan Antique Radio Club is the promoter of the two VEE events. Info, contact Mark Oppat at moppat at comcast dot net or see the site at www.thevee.org Also, more pix on the Antique Radio Forum online, which is a GREAT place to hang and get info on nearly any vintage electronics gear if you are a newbie or an "old pro".
Next Vintage Electronics Expo is Sat, Feb 1 , 2020 again at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills, MI. www.thevee.org will have all the info and an on-line dealer form soon.
Ed Schutz, a former 2nd grade schoolteacher and a MASTER at his craft of making rubber and plastic parts for vintage radios and related stuff. He is hoping to hand the business off to a younger person soon. He makes almost 400 parts and makes decent $ doing it.
Next Winter VEE is Sat, FEB 1, 2020 at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan. See event site at www.thevee.org , has pix of previous shows and will have registration info in November for this show.
I love places like these! The only downfall about places like these though, is since its a specific niche, people usually know what they got, and are priced accordingly.
Which means less $ than the antique malls and shops where they all think they have the rarest thing ever when they find a Hallicrafters S-38 ! Stay to the end of these shows and the bargains really start, especially the famous "Bargain Auction" thats at 3pm Saturday of every VEE.
Happy Anniversary Terry and Marcia , such a great event the both of you attended, not to mention the great video!! Were there any Maestro Echoplex EP-3s there? Thanks for the Video!

Next VEE event is Fri-Sat July 19-20 2019 at the Kalamazoo Expo Center. See www.thevee.org. NOTE! RV's can be parked in designated areas and hookups are available thru permit from the Expo Center. Also, car camping. 6 motels nearby too. $5 gen admission either day. This has been an all-indoors event, this year we are also offering a limited amount of outside seller spaces. Sparton (Sparks-Withington Co. is why its spelled like that) of Jackson, Michigan had some really odd tubes of their own in the "early AC radio" days (1927-1930). They were trying to avoid RCA's patents. Didnt work out, lost in court, they ended up like everyone else paying the license fees for a while until some patents ran out or I forget what happened. Anyways, they had their own "Cardon" brand tubes that ran 3.3v filaments... everyone else ran 1.5V, 2.5V, and 5 v at that time. 6V tubes came along 1933 to match auto voltage. The Sparton types 484 and 485 are fairly easy to find, but their output tubes are rare and pricey. You can use other types there but the others are pricey too. If you have a 1927 era Sparton, you would have the 3.3v filament "C373" aka "C401" tubes which had the filament leads on clips that fit pins on the SIDE of the tube base ! Now this is a sorry situation.... I know a guy making some conversions to 2.5v type 27 tubes for those right now., gonna run them triode. He has an "AC63 model, challenging radio !
I have the zenith pocket radio seen in the flyer and in first room its a 1956 i saw a pioneer sx 980 come to ewaste wanted it but it had to go to be shreded

It is pretty bad when you're watching a video thinking what a load of crap then you spot something that you have in it all. I have one of them Sears meters at 23:41 Really I have two of them. One is slightly different than the other though.
Hi John, that music was at our booth and the music was coming out of a 1939 Zenith Model 7S363 that I restored and added an aux input. ALL ORIGINAL circuit and 10" electro-dynamic speaker, just fresh caps as usual and good tubes. This can be done to most any vintage radio. The artist is Flint, Michigan native Mark Lincoln Braun, known as "Mr.B", who has toured the USA with his "Joybox Express" which is an upright piano on a trailer pulled by a pedal bike ! The disc is called "B at Home" and was recorded in his home. Mr. B's site is marklincolnbraun.com He plays at most major Ann Arbor and other Michigan art fairs and is known far and wide as one of the greatest "boogie piano" style players. If you are interested in buying this nice console radio or getting parts for such things or service, visit my site www.oldradioparts.net I specialize in knobs, capacitors and volume/tone/balance etc controls for stuff mostly 1930-1970 era. Cant do most stereo receiver controls, sorry (but CAN do vintage Fisher, Heathkit, Dynaco and of course radio controls for the classic brands like Zenith, RCA, Philco, etc). See the info for the next show July 19-20 in Kalamazoo at www.thevee.org and thanks to Terry of D-labs for covering this event !

It is pretty bad when you're watching a video thinking what a load of crap then you spot something that you have in it all. I have one of them Sears meters at 23:41 Really I have two of them. One is slightly different than the other though.
What's with this auctioning off of clapped-out Stereo 120's? Harrumph!
I wonder how much of the same stuff I'll see at the Mansfield, Ohio Hamfest on Feb. 17.
Who is playing that piano at the top?
Hi John, That was a CD playing with a MP3 input to the Zenith
