It is never a fail because what you’ve just gained is more experience and that is gold. Your piece is still very attractive regardless. This is quite a coincidence because I just did something very similar the other day but I used pigmented inks with a sinker white to create a Petri flower and it worked quite well but it definitely needs refining. The result was the Petri effect in the centre with the flower for the rest. I’ll post a pic in the Facebook group.
