Actually makes sense. People bought the 4090 for a 2x 3090 in performance. It exceeded expectations. What and why would people want to change or upgrade for more price when they are fine where they are? Lower the price and force them to reconsider. What would happen to the second hand 4090 and 3090 market. If they can pull it off, it's genius. There is a much bigger market this year than just gamers. People like me are in the market for multiple cards for home use.
Before the 4090 release, speculation were ramped with ppl thinking Nvidia will launch the 4090 at $2500 to $3,000 because of the specs and rumors that it absolutely destroys the 3090 and 3090Ti which launched with a high MSRP. As someone who had a 3090 and upgraded to the 4090, Yes the 4090 destroys my older 3090 and is way more power efficient but the 4090 still launched at $1,599. Every Gen this happens with price speculations, Nvidia knows what price range they have to stay within to sell their products. Personally, I'm guessing $1,799 for the RTX 5090 and $1,000 for the RTX 5080. "The more you spend, the more you save"
Impossible, for two reasons. Jensen *at minimum* wants 60% margins, and if the card costs more to produce, assuming a bigger die and newer spec (and more) RAM, Jensen *will* raise prices. Combine that with zero high end competition from AMD (not even a whimper, nothing) and you get *minimum* 1900 dollars, max 2500, but probably 2000. Don’t forget that’s in USD, some nations pay orders of magnitude more for the cards due to weaker currencies, I’d be paying about 4K for a 5090 when the average salary is about 100,000 AUD, I’m paying *4%* of an average salary for *a singular component* let that sink in.
The process node will be a massive factor in determining the performance, price, and power efficiency of the RTX 50 Series. Since nothing has been confirmed yet, TSMC 3nm is still a possibility. It's definitely possible that the data centre chips and gaming GPUs could use a different process node despite being on the same architecture. If they do go for a TSMC 3nm node, it will likely be a custom 3N node to maximise the performance and efficiency of the RTX 50 Series.
You're not getting more than half the full die even with the 5090 this time and it's gonna be $3000. I'll just make do with last gen stuff at lower price and just play less demanding games.
If there is something that I learned from business class, it's always who has the monopoly controls the market. As the rumor about AMD's decision to not rival or competes with high end cards of nvidia to focus on midrange gets truer and truer everyday, the more the 5090 would actually cost 2k and I will be so surprised if they will priced it anything below 2k
The xx90 is meant for workstations. Thats why it gets almost double the VRAM. Theres a market for it but it’s small, and Nvidia knows those people will pay whatever for it. I have a feeling the 5090 will cost 1999.99-2499.99, while the 5080 will be around 1,000-1200 to cater more to gamers. Imo they should keep the 5070 the same price as 4070 since the xx70 is usually the top seller each gen.
The 90 series of the NVIDIA "consumer" line of GPU's are for enthusiasts with more money than they know what to do with or people who might work with programs that benefit from having a stupid-strong GPU. Then there's those who need a GPU to train AI models and crypto miners but aren't willing to buy a $6-20k purposely designed cards for those workloads like the A6000, A100, H100 and so on, which main audience is businesses, not private consumers. That being said, the actual general consumer product starts on the 80 series, and even then, with the MSRP tag of $1200 or so... calling it a consumer product stinks almost as much as the 90's. NVIDIA doesn't see their 90's series as gaming cards. They see it as the only product in the market that's capable of doing a little bit of everything remarkably well compared to all other products available to the general consumer - from gaming and content creation to AI training and crypto mining. So why would they put a cheap price tag on it when the card will still sell regardless of how much "gamers" complain about it? It's even worse when NVIDIA themselves already admitted they don't really care much about the "gaming" market since it represents like 10% of their total revenue and when AMD also admitted to a shift in focus to their mid-range GPU's back in 2022-2023 where they can actually compete? 🙃 I do wish the 5090 is going to be cheaper than the 4090 with every fiber of my being and I wish I'm proven wrong when the card is launched... but with everything I just enunciated above, I don't see it happening. Complaining about the pricing of their 90 series is like trying to bring down a skyscrapper with a toothpick.
I dont think the 5090 needs to be cheaper but rather the rest of the stack below it - the 4090 was the only Ada card which was reasonably priced for it's performance at MSRP.
Ive got an idea once the 5090Ti drops in another year or so for now you can by it for me around $2300 and sell it to me unopened and brand new for under $300...
They will release high, then re-release with a different name at a lower price when the sales does not meet expectations. For example the RTX3080, then RTX 3080 Super. They would have sold way more if they had initially released the RTX3080 Super.
I rather believe they will rename the model they planned to be the 5080 as a 5090, charge 1400 for it (see, we lowered prices!) and call the former 4090 a 4090ti and charge 2000$ for that.
Its not the wattage that kills chips its the voltage. Pumping 1.45-1.6V into the ring bus is mostly the reason(it shares voltage with cores and 12.gen runs at much lower voltage here and not affected). I think the new 5090 will use the same power as the 4090. The power plug is fine, just a few bad apples and some not plugging the cable completely into lock. Or they wore out the connector by disconnecting the plug too often. The path of less resistance is doing the same as 4090 so thats what they'll do. You're logic in this vid doesnt add up. Same node and now they drop power and speed? WHY?! Ofc they need to keep the power up for more speed to use the dddr7 with increased bandwith/latency. More performance equals high price and good margins. This is what nVidia is all about. Amd just did the opposite and the cpus sells poorly.
Totally disagree about the power consumption here. Look, this is the flagship card, the best-of-the-best. When I bought my 4090 I wanted the best performance and power I could get of it to make my games look the best they could look with current technology and I want the exact same with the 5090. I hear the 5090 will be 600 Watt power draw all the power to it. This is what we want, this is what I want! 😂
It's really odd you seem to be wishing Nvidia would NOT push for maximum achievable performance in the top-tier card, and are more interested in power savings. Are you really the target audience for this kind of card? Because that's quite the opposite of what I want. Go for a power-sipping midrange card with cheaper cooler if you care about that stuff. I want maximum capability possible every generation, with price being my only constraint. And yes I bought a $2k watercooled 4090 on launch day.
Hey Nvidia here’s an idea . Don’t release shiiii till you have plenty to release instead of backsliding to your own and selling for triple profit the first few months
NVIDIA 5090 100% will never EVER be cheap, the last elite, Top-Tier card that I bought back in the day for a FAIR price was the 1080 TI, and that was an eternity ago, and arguably the GOAT GPU of all time. However, even the 5070 which is what I was aiming for is rigged, by being only 12gb of RAM which is an absolute joke. I'm tired of this nonsense, and worst off, within a year, the 5070 Supers or whatever they are will be out too, mark my words, they will do this on purpose.
Nobody cares, they can Charge 5000$ for RTX5090. Just hope they charge 300$ For RTX5060 and up to 500$ For RTX5070. These are the cards people actually buy...

People like me are in the market for multiple cards for home use.
I hope they fixed the melting problem
that was only happening to people using cheap cables that come with their cheap PSUs or bending the cable forcifully
@@cks2020693 that's been disproven by several RUclips channels, at least 5 that I personally have seen. Ages ago.
MSRP $1799 for founders, $2200 to $2500 for non founders.
They're aiming to price at between 2k and 2.5k, realistically they want to price it at 2.5k. Dream on bud.
Imo they should keep the 5070 the same price as 4070 since the xx70 is usually the top seller each gen.
lower 5070 price
I do wish the 5090 is going to be cheaper than the 4090 with every fiber of my being and I wish I'm proven wrong when the card is launched... but with everything I just enunciated above, I don't see it happening. Complaining about the pricing of their 90 series is like trying to bring down a skyscrapper with a toothpick.
I dont think the 5090 needs to be cheaper but rather the rest of the stack below it - the 4090 was the only Ada card which was reasonably priced for it's performance at MSRP.
Ive got an idea once the 5090Ti drops in another year or so for now you can by it for me around $2300 and sell it to me unopened and brand new for under $300...
all new games suck so who cares about running a fast computer, 1080p is fine when all new games suck anyway
They will release high, then re-release with a different name at a lower price when the sales does not meet expectations. For example the RTX3080, then RTX 3080 Super. They would have sold way more if they had initially released the RTX3080 Super.
lol at that raytracing benchmark running better than average game today (with RT off)
has the 4090 ever gone cheaper then the msrp?
No, so don't bet that the 5090 will be any cheaper. It will cost at least 2000 dollars.
I HATE RAY TRACING
I HATE RAY TRACING
I HATE RAY TRACING
Yep sir.RT is a marketing solution to sell overpriced card.
I rather believe they will rename the model they planned to be the 5080 as a 5090, charge 1400 for it (see, we lowered prices!) and call the former 4090 a 4090ti and charge 2000$ for that.
This is cope as hard as it gets. 5080 will be 1,200 5080 TI matching 4090 will be 1,699 and 5090 will be 1,999.
NO, for sure, more expensive... greed is greed
At least more expensive=easier to obtain on launch day.
dont want to be that guy but its likely to either maintain the current price or rise slightly
Hard cope.
wow over £1000 what a deal
Beelink or gmktec variants are very much needed
Make it $399 barebones
they have no competition.
Will be waiting for the 5060 or 5060ti... Maybe 2nd quarter 2025
I don't own a nuclear power plant
Nvidia just lost 280 billions, now they will think in gamers again.
Nvgreedia will price it sky high as always. We can be assured of that 👍
Price drop 😂
Nothing in life gets cheaper!
there is no competition amd will not compete for this generation high end so now it will not be cheaper sadly
Only way NVIDIA would drop price is if AMD could actually compete on high end.. Which they still currently cannot..
Cheaper lol. Mid cards are like near $1000 in some stores.
Don’t make me sell my 4090 bro chill lol
Nobody cares, they can Charge 5000$ for RTX5090. Just hope they charge 300$ For RTX5060 and up to 500$ For RTX5070. These are the cards people actually buy...
5060 starts at 800$ and 5070 1000-1200$.So sad story.....
@@markterek6232 560 800$ ? huh ?
Counter point: 6800 XT 🗿🍷
Ik for sure it won’t be above 2500
Over 2000 bank on it
Nah doubt it than a 5070 should cost 499€ :D
what a pipe dream its not ging to be cheaper h=but nice guess
It will never happen,I give that to you in written
We skipping the 5090
Nvidia? Cut prices? LOL
imagine actually thinking it will be cheaper so dum lmao
w3ith incoming recession, Nvidia RTX 5090 should be cheaper.
no it wont
you wish
Cheaper 😅
look at how the 4070 is now its a upgraded 3080 so i suspect the 5070 will be as strong as a 4070ti which will be a good jump
I suspect to the 5080 will be as strong as a 4080
And the 5090 will be the 4090ti
from the 1080 card I had since the month it came out I was getting great fps using 1440 high in every game I only upgraded cause I needed the newer tech for upscaling
So if I wasn't upscaling I still would have the gtx 1080 and still getting good fps
I only upgrade now for future updates to use more power of my card for topaz
But now I’m thinking 5070 will only be a little stronger than 4070
