      yeah. 5090 will be 2000usd and will be 24-32gb vram. the 5080 will be gimped as hell. most likely 30% slower than 5090 and 16gb vram and again we'd be lucky to get more. AND it will probably be 1200usd again. I am sure it will be 1200usd because when the 5090 is 2000, itll look like a "good deal".

    • @Quint1975
      @Quint1975 3 месяца назад +7

      @FIVESTRZ if you could pick up at that price but that GPU was scalped into oblivion thanks to crypto mining and a global supply shortage due to Cov. But yes the 3080 was the last decently priced to performance GPU. Nvidia doesn't need gamers anymore so they'll be pricing their products for max commercial yield. Plus they are just plain old greedy.

    • @FIVESTRZ

      @@Quint1975 I agree with the greed/maximizing profits which is good business to the shareholders. Import taxes during that period hurt us just as bad as scalping, where prices climbed to $1099 MSRP which I think gave them the courage to launch the 4080 at $1199 😂.
      I guess to an extent if you're talking prosumers then yea but enterprise is a big money maker. Sell 1 solution to one company or sell 10,000 units of RTX 5000 for the same outcome in revenue

AI enthusiast I've spoken with that already have a 24GB 3090/4090 are not going to touch the 5090 if it's 24GB again and if it sells over $1600-1800, regardless of how fast it is going to be. In AI land VRAM is everything. AI enthusiasts that I'm communicating with tell me that they won't be happy even with the rumored 28GB. They all already have 24GB GPUs which is not much different than 28GB. Everybody wants a 32GB 5090. There is absolutely no reason for Nvidia to make it cheaper than 4090. None. Zero. They already dominate the market, there is zero competition in flagship to them. Zero. All they will do is keep pushing the price ceiling for every generation. It's purely illogical for Nvidia to make a 5090 cheaper than 4090 from any perspective. In fact, they have all the more reason to keep pushing the price ceiling for the 1% people that buy these flagship cards just to get the best performance without thinking of costs. For one, AMD, unironically is giving some decent competition to Nvidia in the lower price segments. So it would make more sense for Nvidia to just keep milking more margins at flagship segment just in case RDNA 4 happens to be a lot mode competive in lower price segments. AMD is not even trying to compete Nvidia in flagship in the upcoming generation

    There is no reason for Nvidia to sell a 5090 for any less than $2k. It does not matter how it performs as long as its the current best. Remember the 90 class market makes up less than 5% of all the gpus out there. Its a flagship and as such people will pay. You know it. Nvidia knows it. It doesnt matter if the price to performance is awful. What nvidia needs to get right is 80 class pricing. Cut the 5080 down and charge $800 for it. The 4070ti super is just about what the real 4080 should have been at launch.
    Side note. Even though 16gb of vram is enough for 99.9% of games for at least the next 4 years i cant fathom giving nvidia $1k+ for 16gb of vram. Either bring it down in price or stick more vram on it.

As someone who had a 3090 and upgraded to the 4090, Yes the 4090 destroys my older 3090 and is way more power efficient but the 4090 still launched at $1,599. Impossible, for two reasons.
    Jensen *at minimum* wants 60% margins, and if the card costs more to produce, assuming a bigger die and newer spec (and more) RAM, Jensen *will* raise prices.
    Combine that with zero high end competition from AMD (not even a whimper, nothing) and you get *minimum* 1900 dollars, max 2500, but probably 2000.
    Don’t forget that’s in USD, some nations pay orders of magnitude more for the cards due to weaker currencies, I’d be paying about 4K for a 5090 when the average salary is about 100,000 AUD, I’m paying *4%* of an average salary for *a singular component* let that sink in.

    The process node will be a massive factor in determining the performance, price, and power efficiency of the RTX 50 Series. Since nothing has been confirmed yet, TSMC 3nm is still a possibility. It's definitely possible that the data centre chips and gaming GPUs could use a different process node despite being on the same architecture. If they do go for a TSMC 3nm node, it will likely be a custom 3N node to maximise the performance and efficiency of the RTX 50 Series.

    The 90 series of the NVIDIA "consumer" line of GPU's are for enthusiasts with more money than they know what to do with or people who might work with programs that benefit from having a stupid-strong GPU. Then there's those who need a GPU to train AI models and crypto miners but aren't willing to buy a $6-20k purposely designed cards for those workloads like the A6000, A100, H100 and so on, which main audience is businesses, not private consumers. That being said, the actual general consumer product starts on the 80 series, and even then, with the MSRP tag of $1200 or so... calling it a consumer product stinks almost as much as the 90's.
    NVIDIA doesn't see their 90's series as gaming cards. They see it as the only product in the market that's capable of doing a little bit of everything remarkably well compared to all other products available to the general consumer - from gaming and content creation to AI training and crypto mining. So why would they put a cheap price tag on it when the card will still sell regardless of how much "gamers" complain about it? It's even worse when NVIDIA themselves already admitted they don't really care much about the "gaming" market since it represents like 10% of their total revenue and when AMD also admitted to a shift in focus to their mid-range GPU's back in 2022-2023 where they can actually compete? 🙃
    I do wish the 5090 is going to be cheaper than the 4090 with every fiber of my being and I wish I'm proven wrong when the card is launched... but with everything I just enunciated above, I don't see it happening. Complaining about the pricing of their 90 series is like trying to bring down a skyscrapper with a toothpick.

    They will release high, then re-release with a different name at a lower price when the sales does not meet expectations. For example the RTX3080, then RTX 3080 Super. They would have sold way more if they had initially released the RTX3080 Super.

    No, so don't bet that the 5090 will be any cheaper. It will cost at least 2000 dollars.

    I rather believe they will rename the model they planned to be the 5080 as a 5090, charge 1400 for it (see, we lowered prices!) and call the former 4090 a 4090ti and charge 2000$ for that.

    This is cope as hard as it gets. 5080 will be 1,200 5080 TI matching 4090 will be 1,699 and 5090 will be 1,999.

    Its not the wattage that kills chips its the voltage. Pumping 1.45-1.6V into the ring bus is mostly the reason(it shares voltage with cores and 12.gen runs at much lower voltage here and not affected). I think the new 5090 will use the same power as the 4090. The power plug is fine, just a few bad apples and some not plugging the cable completely into lock. Or they wore out the connector by disconnecting the plug too often. The path of less resistance is doing the same as 4090 so thats what they'll do. You're logic in this vid doesnt add up. Same node and now they drop power and speed? WHY?! Ofc they need to keep the power up for more speed to use the dddr7 with increased bandwith/latency. More performance equals high price and good margins. This is what nVidia is all about. Amd just did the opposite and the cpus sells poorly.

  • @jasonprendergast7493
    @jasonprendergast7493 2 месяца назад

    Totally disagree about the power consumption here. Look, this is the flagship card, the best-of-the-best. When I bought my 4090 I wanted the best performance and power I could get of it to make my games look the best they could look with current technology and I want the exact same with the 5090.
    I hear the 5090 will be 600 Watt power draw all the power to it. This is what we want, this is what I want! 😂

  • @rhadiem
    @rhadiem 3 месяца назад

    It's really odd you seem to be wishing Nvidia would NOT push for maximum achievable performance in the top-tier card, and are more interested in power savings. Are you really the target audience for this kind of card? Because that's quite the opposite of what I want. Go for a power-sipping midrange card with cheaper cooler if you care about that stuff. I want maximum capability possible every generation, with price being my only constraint. And yes I bought a $2k watercooled 4090 on launch day.

  • @Umahn

    NVIDIA 5090 100% will never EVER be cheap, the last elite, Top-Tier card that I bought back in the day for a FAIR price was the 1080 TI, and that was an eternity ago, and arguably the GOAT GPU of all time. However, even the 5070 which is what I was aiming for is rigged, by being only 12gb of RAM which is an absolute joke. I'm tired of this nonsense, and worst off, within a year, the 5070 Supers or whatever they are will be out too, mark my words, they will do this on purpose.

    look at how the 4070 is now its a upgraded 3080 so i suspect the 5070 will be as strong as a 4070ti which will be a good jump
    I suspect to the 5080 will be as strong as a 4080
    And the 5090 will be the 4090ti
    from the 1080 card I had since the month it came out I was getting great fps using 1440 high in every game I only upgraded cause I needed the newer tech for upscaling
    So if I wasn't upscaling I still would have the gtx 1080 and still getting good fps
    I only upgrade now for future updates to use more power of my card for topaz
    But now I’m thinking 5070 will only be a little stronger than 4070
