- A few viewers expressed discontent and criticism during my last video covering the obvious centralization on Internet Computer. I've been accused of click baiting and not doing my due diligence. I made this video to address those criticism and set the record straight. Hope you enjoy!

your concerns raised in the previous video are absolutely legit. I hope the situation with the ICP node owners will improve. Rome wasn't built in one day.
I think it will improve when ICP opens the network to cheaper node hardware
@@cxc I have networking background, and Im pretty sure cheaper nodes is a bad Idea. ICP is driven by cryptographic security, so they cant risk having low compute nodes, they are prompt to many vulnerabilities/Hacking, also another huge thing about ICP, is meeting latency thresholds, something which will expontentially decrease with bad cheap nodes. I really cant see using cheaper nodes as a possibility!. IMO There is def a latency, chryptographic, storage, compute requirement that ICP needs to meet to deliver top cannisters performance. Remember that the canister does not operate alone, they need to bring consensus with other canisters across geographycally locations, so nodes performance is a non negotiable.

Dfinity is a centralized entity, ICP is not. They are dfinity grants given out in accordance to how they wish and can legally maneuver.

Personally I like your videos but I did disagree with your previous video. Which was being shared on more than just RUclips. ICP already has a pretty poor reputation and I think videos like that do not help, it was a 2 year old post. I've checked the ICP dashboard, I went through all node providers and really the top 14 providers have 58% of total nodes. Again in data centres I cannot find these entities that control 80% of ICP. I've looked myself but most people won't, they will believe whatever suits their own personal narrative and the narrative around ICP isn't exactly positive after the SBF debacle. I have removed my previous comments on your video as I realise I came across as a bit coarse, again I like your videos and keep doing what you're doing. Have a good day

Fair point, but decentralization doesn't seem to be the main factor in alt-coin performance (from a price action standpoint). Example: Eth, sol, etc
I crunched some numbers based on 130 Node Providers and 1486 Node Machines only Double digits and up for a total 1211 Nodes (N) which make a Top 36 Node Providers list. Top8=510N for 34.32ptc. Top9=568N for 38.22ptc. Top10=620N for 41.17ptc. Top11=670N for 45.08ptc. Top36=1211N for 81.49ptc. Remainder accounts for 18.50ptc. 🤔
So hold up, you're saying the top 36 owns 81.5%?

I also have it broken down into Subnets (S) and number of Locations (L) as well as names of the Node Providers.

I'm just coming online today LOL and I decided to start by watching from the last video.
Truth is, 8 Node providers is a lot, if we consider that just 3 entities runs 65% of ETH nodes after 9 years of ETH's existence, yet they got recognised as a decentralised commodity by the US. ICP have 8 node providers already within 3 years. Though it's not "sufficiently decentralised" at the moment, it will be, over time.
As for those saying that you didn't DYOR, let's just say that they're not open-minded investors. Stress not over those opinions. Nothing on earth is perfect. We do question certain things atimes, even what God says is perfect (if you understand what I mean).
Where do you guys get the 8 node providers info? there is actualy 130 Node providers as off today! deployed across 97 DCs for a total of 1486 node machines!
@Cp0909 I don't know where they got it, but I'm keeping it real. Even if it's 8, it's still more decentralised than ETH, whose 65% of nodes are being controlled by 3. It's not a big deal and it will only get better over time. I'd love to see the data source myself too.
