    I’ve got a similar mountain that I’m overwhelmed with in Utah in 4 storage units. It’s probably 40% book, 40% board games & 20% misc. All on wheeled pallets as I move them into free new storage promotional units every 2 months. I’m building my own storage rental building so their on back burner. On subject email write “Deathpile is money pile”

    I just started and I received a call to pickup a collection of books for free. It was her fathers collection…he passed away and had over 1000 books I picked up. A lot of historical, political and history books in perfect condition. No ISBN on most of them so for my first go around it will be a nice learning curve. Thank you for sharing this video..def helps..I was a bit overwhelmed looking at the stacks in my garage.lol

    Good video, very transparent, shows what a good database, scanner and hard work can accomplish.

    Do you clean the books of dust and grime before sending into Amazon? If so, how do you clean? Thanks. Great video.

    • @TheBookFlipper
      @TheBookFlipper  5 лет назад +1

      Baby wipes work great if needed. We don't usually clean the books up much unless they are in terrible shape.

    Can you ship the books in ordinary boxes to ups? Or do they have to be ups?

      Good question. When does Nathan get paid his 30%?

  • @baronvondeals3344
    @baronvondeals3344 5 лет назад +1

    As you were processing the books did you do any presorting by condition to streamline the listing process. I have seen some AMZ sellers sort by condition so they can list using a template by condition

    • @TheBookFlipper
      @TheBookFlipper  5 лет назад +1

      I've tried it both ways and for me the best workflow is to list them as I snag them like we did here. I know others swear up and down by pre-sorting, but to each their own!

    Hi Caleb - I have an offer for a consignment deal and want to make sure I’m setting up the details properly. To be clear, are you waiting until EVERY book has sold and then paying Nathan in one big check? Was he okay with waiting that long?

      He’s not answering the question yet about when and how Nathan gets paid his 30% ?

    Can you explain the setup you were using to scan books with a desktop scanner and a laptop through Scout IQ?

    • @TheBookFlipper
      @TheBookFlipper  5 лет назад

      It was a beta setup using an emulator. We use ScoutIQ with the new SellBackYourBook integration to scan directly at the boxes as our preferred method.

    how do you scan non book items? is there an app for each genre? like how do you scan a vinyl record or other things?

      You can scan any product with ScoutIQ. It may not show an accept or reject decision but you can see the sales rank and offers.

    ??I noticed you were able to leave the duds behind, what would say to them or if you had the deal to take everything, what would you do with that many duds??

    • @TheBookFlipper
      @TheBookFlipper  5 лет назад

      We've had to take everything on previous deals... usually find a local Goodwill or a recycler that can drop off gaylords or a roll-off dumpster and fill 'em up!

    Like you said. Try out different restaurants when you travel. When people I’m with suggest chain restaurants, I always search and find the local restaurants or ask around to find out the best place. Much better food.

    I’m in northern New Jersey. How do I know where to ship the books? Thanks

    • @TheBookFlipper
      @TheBookFlipper  2 года назад

      Amazon will tell you where to ship them, typically to a nearby fulfillment center.

  • @stevepacker2327

    I want to drive up to an Amazon distribution center with all my books labeled and ready to sell. I don't want to individually hand carry my books to the post office and send out. I know that there is a storage fee. I have driven up to 2 different distribution centers here in Washington state and nobody there at Amazon knows where I can send my books. Do you know how to do this and where I can go? I have a lot of books that I will never read.

    • @TheBookFlipper
      @TheBookFlipper  2 года назад

      You can’t drop them off personally - you would need to list them on Amazon and pay to ship them to a center.

    Is the sellback data going to be downloadable?

    • @TheBookFlipper
      @TheBookFlipper  5 лет назад +1

      It's a live API call, but happens really quickly in the background even on Database scans. Their data is not static, so there's no database available.

    Do books really still sell on Amazon? I sell many different items on Amz and books are my least favorite. Seem to take forever to sell and 90% of books seem to have zero value.

    • @TheBookFlipper
      @TheBookFlipper  5 лет назад +3

      A 90% dud rate is normal with books - that's why it's important to have a database app that can help you quickly weed through the duds to find the studs. Books still sell great - our book business has grown every single year since we started 5 years ago!

    I'd say Nathan is pretty lucky since you guys were willing to sort out and put aside for the family the collectibles worth over a 100K and still give him 30% off of Amazon. This job definitely takes a team of people, that's for sure!

    Who collect all these books!!! Really?

  • @stablechaos5433
    @stablechaos5433 2 года назад

    So, out of 100.000 books, you’ve made $5,496? That’s roughly through 6 months. That’s 916 a month, if they sell evenly. Then you’ve got to split that with your partner so you’re bringing home $2,748. Roughly $458 a month if sold evenly through 6 months. That doesn’t seem too profitable with your time. There is no way the two of you can keep that up for long term use and make good money. You’d wear yourselves out. You’d need to hire people and that cuts into your profit margin a lot. As a full time gig, that seems like a lot of work and a lot of time and effort to make any decent money.

      The cool part here is we did 2-3 days of work cherry picking from the collection and left everything behind. No junk removal. I'm pretty happy to clear a few grand for a few days' work! Every time books from this collection continue to sell, it's the gift that keeps on giving.
