Glad you enjoyed it! I hadn't seen that live version. As you say, live almost always is a huge improvement mostly with the songs where Ambrose is lead vocals.
This song is from K.G., their only album of 2020 (one of the very few years that they only released 1 album.) Pretty sure you noticed (especially in the live version), but this is another microtonal song. Also pretty sure that the guitars on the original were recorded with a cell phone. I haven't heard the live version until now, that was amazing! Seemed a lot more emotionally charged than the original.
I did notice, not sure if I said it during the reaction though. I gotta be more careful about when I say things. We were live streaming during this recording. We def talked about the microtonal guitars at some point. I love this. This band is so creative
10:14 Those are roto-toms, Stu is turning them because it changes their pitch, like your second guess suggested :) Glad you got to this one, reckoned Sue would like it as the Amby Woman she is and wasn't disappointed! Edit to say: Sue's DANCE MOVES! They could get her on stage as a hype woman! She'd probably get along with all of them.
I’m guessing that maybe because they went to a microtonal song, Stu changed the rotos to the proper key. maybe… I’d think they’d have a drum tech for that, but maybe Stu wants to do it
Are you guys going to both shows in nyc? They have to do a microtonal mini set in those 3 hour shows. I recommend you look up the setlist to last years forest hills show. You won’t hear those songs at the next shows. So listen to them for your own edification. Especially Dripping Tap. The live version from Coachella is fire.
It was rain and smoke. I was there at remlinger all three days. It rained every day.
They're, in my opinion, the coolest shit on earth.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they are killer live
Check out The (evil) river live at redrocks 2022. High quality live video and one of their best jams.
