I literally just signed a contract with a solar company a week ago. Getting a 20KW Enphase battery system supported by 21 solar panels. It will work in concert, in a dire situation with my whole home (Propane) generator. I'm literally working to get 100% off grid. It was stupid expensive but the idiots in DC will give me 30% tax credit against the cost of the system, another 10% for stuff made in America. Plus I'll get net metering from my utility company, so I'll be getting paid on most days.
I used to be a solar salesman. If you can still cancel it I would. Unless you paid cash, then go ahead. I had to quit from basically death threats from angry customers when the co. would put a lien on their house and they couldn't sell it.
When you sell the house the solar contract must be paid in full. This is what would cause the problems. As a salesman we would tell you that.....if you asked. If you didn't ask, oh well it's in the contract, can't sell a one if you volunteer that kind of info.

That tells me he installed far too many panels but hey, he's getting paid, that's great. My goal isn't to profit from the power company, but to rather survive blackouts that are inevitable from power outages (storms etc) or downright grid failures from a flawed infrastructure. Regardless, I have redundant backup energy sources, which is more than 99% of people can say.

Uranium is not coal, it does not go from the ground straight to the reactor, as he alluded to. It takes a lot of processing and waste thrown away (that's where depleted uranium comes from).
We pay $150 in Lebanon per month for 5 amperes which is about 1KW. 1 KW operates a fridge, a fan, a TV some computers, and few lights. That’s it. A/C works when you switch everything else off, including the fridge.

In the US electric utilities carry the second largest debt load, that debt has been rolling over into higher interest debt for a while. These utilities are guaranteed to make a profit under state law, as such these increased debt cost are passed on to the rate payers. A significant amount of cities and municipalities tax electricity. These cities are struggling financially and have been rasing this tax, and they do not need to go before a rate commission or the voters to raise this tax. This is not as sexy as the things covered in the video but are a growing piece of the pie.

Just because the USA grew gas power more than wind and solar - doesn't mean the rest of the world did. China has now cancelled hundreds of coal power plants & is the world's leader in renewable energy - because they understand they can get energy independence. They also understand that once the infrastructure is built, you don't need to feed it with 'fuel' & an entire supply chain for that. Fossil fuels grew into a mega-bucks monopoly that influences politics & everything else. America just fracked the hell out of the country & has a toxic water nightmare on the horizon. Gas will eventually run out or get too expensive to frack. Then you will wish you'd built the 'fuel-free' infrastructure. Developed countries in Europe are racing to transition to renewables. Independence from coal & gas is the goal. The UK got the majority of its electricity from wind power in the last 12 months - more than it got from gas. On some days of the year wind exceed all other sources combined. That's before there are solar panels on every rooftop & batteries in every garage (and car). A combination of wind/solar/batteries is just a matter of getting the 'scale' right. If you build the infrastructure to cope at the times of LEAST production - then at ALL other times there will be surpluses... plenty for the AI stuff. And don't write off innovation - the latest NVDA board is a MILLION times better than the previous one & requires less electricity to run. Likewise solar and batteries are getting cheaper and better at the same time. Renewables will win hands down - just because of the economics of it... once the fossil cartel are exposed and ALL subsidies are removed from energy (globally - fossil fuels got 7 trillion dollars in subsidies last year - many many times more than renewables got - because renewables are economic out of the box now - both at the grid scale and domestic - although there again Americans are being ripped off on PV prices compared to the rest of the world, thanks to the fossil cartel).
Maybe they cancelled the plants because their economy is collapsing, they found out they have 200 million fewer people than they thought, and the population is projected to decline the rest of the century.
There is no such thing as an energy transition. Energy sources are additive. So, there is a greater array of energy options. We will not be deleting any energy options anytime in the near future.

Legacy automakers have decades of capital expenditures sunk into designing and building drive trains. There is no way they will pivot to EVs and abandon a large part of their business. They will either buy an EV company or be bought by one. EVs are pet projects for the legacy automakers probably with some government funding in there.
