Thank you for your review of the TRX. I've never used a pinpointer but have always wanted one. Looks like I'm gearing to purchase the TRX based on the several reviews I have watched.
Thank you for that Wonderful review! I'm pretty confident now that I want the new TRX pin pointer. By the way, that loop on the top of the TRX holster is for an optional lanyard for the TRX.
I personnaly have the Orange Garrett which is perfect for depth and I have used the black one for many years, For those who have a Garrett and do not want to spend $ to get a deeper one here is a small trick that will give you an inch to an inch and a half more depth.. It weird but actually works well... step 1 . Do a depth test on paper like the video Step 2 : find a clad dollar or quarter and place it on the side of the black garrett tip while its ON..It will vibrate.. slowly slide the coin to the top until the vibration stops... step 3 Tape the coin exactly there with eletrical tape on the pointer,, Step 4 turn pointer off and On and try a depth test again.. you will have gained some depth.... once the coin is taped, it does not affect the pointer.. I had a coin on mine for many years.. Hope this helped..
Nice Video - Thanks! Just a question. Does the Whites also have the fine pinpointing like the Garrett. Meaning once you have found the target if you turn the Garrett off and back on while on the target it will reduce the sensitivity for finer pinpointing?
I had the Bullseye II and although I bought it new, I sold it on ebay to get the TRX. Much better than the Bullseye. Also watched, "the testing of 5 different pin pointers" on this channel and out of the 5, the TRX beats them all. White's is also made in the U.S.A. and they back their product.
TheGearScore I suppose there will always be something "new and improved" in the market, but honestly that video I mentioned in my previous post speaks for itself. For me, as an amateur in the hobby I'm very happy. Now I have to wait for the subzero weather to change and the ground to thaw. Maybe in like June or July I'll be in luck! HaHaHa I did a ton of research before buying my gear, maybe not enough on the pin pointer, but I have to give a big thumbs up to White's and their products.
Looks like the White's TRX is the way to go nowadays. I like the more narrow area of sensitivity at the tip of the White's TRX. No comparison in my opinion.
I bought a Whites Bulls Eye pin pointer about 5 years ago,did not work right at all. Sent it back to Whites.A few years later i bought a Garrett Pro-Pointer,and it works great.
Well I guess they did their homework, because my TRX has outperformed the Garrett in every way, and my experience is similar to nearly all people that have both.
Bought the Minelab pointer to use with a MXT All pro. The pointer frequency to close to the Whites. Specially on relic setting. First item to get at my local Whites dealership is the TRX for this season.
Nicely done video. Strange about the fields being so differently shaped. If there is field near the handle and tip, why not the whole way, since you can still be getting misled by something ringing near the handle when you think it is the tip.
I have found that the "blank spot" near the tip of the White's TRX pin pointer is actually a bonus! It lets you know if you have gone PAST the item in the hole. I have been using this for about a year and it sets this pin pointer above all my other ones at the moment.
I've never had any issues with my Garret. I've had it 2 yrs plus now. I've played around with a few other pointers and they just don't compare. If I had to go with another it would be a Minelab go find
Yes, that would be an excellent test! I think it might be hard to do, getting a wide variety of different soil samples for comparison, but it would make for a great road trip!
I once owned the TRX when it first came out..what a piece of XXXX. Sold it and keep my old GP. I belong to a club here and almost everyone who owns the TRX is trying to get rid of it...no offense but Whites need to improve on it.
Interesting.. What is wrong with it in your opinion? I know a lot of people who made the switch to the TRX and haven't looked back. I am able to recover targets much quicker with mine.
The White's can be shorter or longer than the Garrett, depending on what you set the default sensitivity to be. And I thought the graph was interesting, regardless of how useful it is.
I used to have a Garrett. It had to be the most expensive, useless piece of crap gadget that I've ever owned. In my opinion it was poorly designed and poorly assembled. It 'falsed' all the time. The 'cool' reception I received from Garrett will always be a bad taste in my my mouth. And as long as my backside points to the ground, I'll never by another of Garrett's products. It's been my experience with both the AT Pro I had and the PP, that the products are over-sold, over-priced and poorly built. The AT Pro did a reasonable job, but as I said the PP was the choking point for me.
Thank you for your review of the TRX. I've never used a pinpointer but have always wanted one. Looks like I'm gearing to purchase the TRX based on the several reviews I have watched.
The best review I have seen on these two yet. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it! Thanks.

I'm curious to see how the new Garrett will perform against my TRX.

William Brandell Same here, the winter in Michigan has been brutal.

Nice review. I really like the "polar" diagram showing both pinpointer's trigger ranges.

They must have done something, when you have a 60 year reputation on the line the last you want is angry customers.
I have Garrett but it interfere a lot with my MXT PRO when I set sens over 10 . Time to buy TRX, thanks for sharing.
Bought the Minelab pointer to use with a MXT All pro. The pointer frequency to close to the Whites. Specially on relic setting. First item to get at my local Whites dealership is the TRX for this season.
Did he give a price difference of these 2? Should do that in a review.
Very good review and I do put the tape over the speaker too and also over the on-off button too - Thanks
No tape is needed for the button, just the speaker hole to be safe. It also drowns out the piercing sound of it.
Great review, very informative.

I have both pin pointers as well, nice review
***** I sold the Garrett to purchase their new waterproof version with sensitivity adjustments.

Minelab pro find
Seems TRX have higher frenquency?
Id saay the clip on the TRX is to attach your landyard if you use one.
Yep I believe so. For those forgetful folks lol.
I have nothing but Whites and I love my TRX. It Pinpoints 3 1/2 deep.
The TRX is nice, I just wish they made it a little more solid like the Garrett
+SpeedyTech Solutions I agree with that but all in all the TRX depth just can't be beat, my opinion.
Very well done, come back at the end of the year and let us know how the White's held up.
Craig in PA It is still working great and haven't had any issues.
wow great video thanks
Ok so you measured magnetic field but what about different soil and clay reads I think I would of like to see that
Yes, that would be an excellent test! I think it might be hard to do, getting a wide variety of different soil samples for comparison, but it would make for a great road trip!
does the TRX allow you like the garret to get close to the object and power up allowing you to better locate the object?
I just wish they had them 30 years ago when I started,,,,it was so much fun without them....Not"
You forgot to mention the prices of each one?????
Yep that was back when I first started!
Thanks cool channel
Much appreciated. Those wireless earbuds look pretty cool.
how much is cost of the whites
Last I knew, like 150
It gets dark in those holes

SpeedyTech Solutions agreed
I own a TRX and it works fine. It gives me about 4 inches of depth.
that graph is useless, having a longer detection is not better because you can detect multiple items at once, the Garrett is shorter for a reason.
The White's can be shorter or longer than the Garrett, depending on what you set the default sensitivity to be. And I thought the graph was interesting, regardless of how useful it is.
garrett looks new
That's what happens when someone with gadget-OCD plays with things in the dirt.
lol
