      that was exactly what I thought, the last one I watched was spoilt by it, would have preferred to hear them talking and the silence of the mine.

    Great video guys, Is that Hawkes shaft with the pipework in?

    • @BenoCam
      @BenoCam  3 года назад +2

      Yes it is. It used to be open but now has a large concrete slab over it and only accessible from going down a nearby shaft in the woods and walking too underground . The one we use for access escaped the capping program as it’s so difficult to get concrete near I think !

      Still, I think that's rubbish.

    • @NathanWantsFreedom
      @NathanWantsFreedom 7 лет назад +2

      Just incase you are still interested, they are stalactites.. its where a very slow drip of water has flown down from the earth and solidified with the local minerals in it. they come in many colours depending on what minerals are in the earth

  • @CRTukkerr
    @CRTukkerr 7 лет назад

    What did they mine there?

    • @LindaTCornwall
      @LindaTCornwall 6 лет назад

      Tin, most of the mines in Cornwall are tin. It is famous for it.... dating back to the bronze age. Though there were a few Zinc and lead mines.

    What an incredible mine to find - looks like the water level is quite variable. why is that?

    • @BenoCam
      @BenoCam  4 года назад

      this mine is connected to the county adit so slowly drains after no rainfall for a bit

      Of course. There’s a bar which unbolts which we always put back in. It’s in our interest... if a kid falls down and dies they will concrete this and many others like it over.

    I guess it was easier to enter
    without looking for paperwork.

    • @BenoCam
      @BenoCam  2 года назад

      The mine plans were quite vague and also over 100 years old so how they left it is not what it is like now. I do have copies of the mine plans of this area if they are of interest as they available from the county records office.
