Man, this thing is amazing. I spent a semester with the Moog Model 55 back in the day, but this unit is so far ahead of that and beautifully integrated. wow. And no problem with running out of cords!
@@BidobaGonduba Perhaps the idea, but backlit buttons have been done and re-done. And as for Roland: Jupiter 8 buttons, TS-8 buttons, Jupiter-X… none of them look as good and candy-like as these on the Moog Muse imo. 🤷🏿♂️
Ugh. Fugly as hell. I love Moog- their sound and build quality. But the aesthetics on this one look like it was designed by someone who has focus issues and post-it notes all over their place. All those colors on the buttons? Red lights? The button shapes? Yikes.
Dude the muting and unmuting of modulations is wild. Haven’t gotten that far in my manual yet. I love that i can see parameter values on screen as i change them as well, really helped me get a better feel for logarithmic vs exponential vs linear shapes
I appreciate that the Muse includes an "effect" (the "Diffusion Delay") that is specifically useful to the types of sounds one might create thereon, but doesn't include a full-on Lexicon-style DDL that might step on a proper studio effects (or DAW) rig. That's not a poop on other analog synths that include stereo digital reverbs(! side-eye to you, my beautiful Rev2, Take 5, prologue, &c!) but it's that kind of intentional "limiting" of the built-ins that really helps define the instrument. Of course, I love having those DDLs available on my other instruments, but _only_ because it makes them more portable for live performance. When I include them on studio tracks, I'm turning off the built-in reverbs ( _unless_ they are actually supplemental to the sound, e.g the "Diffusion Delay") and putting them into the same space as the rest of the mix!
Pardon my comment gushing, but listening to this through proper headphones, this is the best sounding raw synth since my Rev2. Astonishing flexibility, the sequencer is incredible - wondering if Moog will release a more self-contained version thereof, overall incredible instrument! …so _WHY_ just _8_ voices?! _Please_ Moog, if it costs a third more, that's fine, but _please_ release a 16 (or more!) voice version!
Thanks Andrew for the video! ❤ Anyone who is interested, let me quickly highlight how this synth is unique or interesting IMO: - the LFOs, apart from the usual shapes, come with complex custom shapes (the "+" symbol above the waveform button) - in the dual VCOs there is a wavemix feature where you can set the balance of levels between pulse and triangle / saw (/which you can also mix freely!) - you can program a lot of generative behavior into the sequencer with gate, velocity and note chance / probability for more unpredictability - there's dual timbre addressing in the sequencer so it can play both timbres at once or only chosen notes for timbre A and B (which makes it more fun!) - in the mod matrix you can use functions to change the well-known shapes of sine, square LFOs into uniquely new ones, or create custom curves for envelopes / aftertouch response, etc. - the mixer allows for a clean mix of all analog sources but you can also use the overload slider to overdrive the signal like the classic Moog CP-3 mixer does - the delay works like vintage digital rack units in that it's highly configurable and can provide stereo delays with ping pong behavior, filtered multi-tap tape echo-style delays, or reverb + dreamy chorused-diffusion trails. Generally it's a sonic playground for time-based effects. Thank you Moog!!!
I also feel this pain 😢 Looking at this and the Moog Labryinth like 👀 But even Uli's UB-XA clone is up there in price. For good reason ofc, but it goes to show that even the clones are worth a lot. I want all of them haha!
Holy cray Andrew That song made you into an artist I didn’t know you could be that rnb feel you had was amazing. This synth inspired you to be something else! Must buy?
As soon as I win the lottery, I'll get one immediately! Until then, I won't even consider it, waaaay too expensive, and I know that without looking anywhere near the product page 😄
Two thoughts as someone who doesn't know anything about creating music; 1: this sounds really cool. 2: I have no idea what is going on in any part of the video. 10/10 synthesizers 👍
The introduction beat at 0,06 seconds was interesting. Also, the song you made at 6min. You synced your drums through midi, or midi clock - Just curious. Looks like a great synth. Moog One was Awesome as well.
And GREAT news that you and RKC are doing a track. Can I buy that t-shirt? 😂 You two have been faves for a bit and I discovered her via your channel. And yeah, bought a MicroFreak as a result too 😂
I’m happy that Moog seems to be alive and well in terms of development. I like the features of the Muse, and it sounds pretty good. I’m not a fan of those blue rocker switches though, they look too plasticky and cheap imho.
I love how everybody's demo of this synth is the actual varied filter sounds with cutoffs, but Andrew's review of this synth...? Play with The Computer * inside * the synth in an attempt to hack it.
Ok, this sounds really like a well thought out synthesizer. Thank you for this great video! Did you have the chance to give input that has actually been used? Seems like it!
I didn't think modern expensive synths would still use that type of display! (is it dot matrix?) I like it though, it is easier to read than full colour LCD displays, in my experience. :)
Thank you for the video. One question, since I own Moog One, I know there are some glitches when using the Moog One synced to DAW. How does all this work out with the Muse?
Hi Andrew.. I liked that snippet, you played with your collaboration with Rachel K Collier, but what connection did it have with this Moog Muse synth ? .. did you use the Moog's chord memory function to trigger some samples outside of the Moog ? .. on a sampler ? , and in that case: what sampler did you use for this ?
I'm listening to this again and the song he created " Come Lift Me Up" right so to the creator Andrew are you doing everything inside this keyboard including drums and vocals? This Synth almost seem like the Motif ES. CAN YOU PLEASE CONFIRM this or not.
Moog's been on a roll lately! Defs gonna be looking into the Labyrinth and love what they've done with this one too! Favourites from you are 100% your track with Rachel as well as that space funk-ish track with those killer atmospheric vocals!
This thing is top class, wow! I'm not buying anything at the moment, and anyway I don't have a lot of space left... but of course I'd love to own one :)
My own hardware synths are simple monosynths without even any display screens, but Muse’s little triangle “more” button found in the upper right corner of every control section seems like a dynamite little touch to separate my knob-tweaking/ feel mode from my higher brain “thinking” mode.
Feels like they went for something in the realm of the hydrasynth and the polybrute 6 or even the Trigon 6. Maybe to a lesser degree the Take 5 and the TEO 5 even though they have less voices and half the price. It sounds very nice. So I’m guessing this is a Moog One for the rest of us. I’d like to try one.
I definitely need to release some of the music from this vid - any favorites?!
Need to watch the rest to pick. Give me a sec
Edit: I'm going with the arpeggiator song. Such a vibe. 👌
definitely the arpeggiator part from 5:28 🙏
Last track sounds dope 🫶🏻👌🏻
the hocket at 3:07 goes so hard. That one DEFINITELY needs to go out. Stank face engaged 😤
The best part is those funky basslines.
Man, this thing is amazing. I spent a semester with the Moog Model 55 back in the day, but this unit is so far ahead of that and beautifully integrated. wow. And no problem with running out of cords!
This is probably one of the most beautiful synths I’ve ever seen. Those colored buttons are like jolly ranchers
Copied from Roland
The One and Quantum MK2 are beautiful too

It looks like a cs80 with a moog designed shell, which is not bad considering how good looking the cs80 is.
Sounds great, man. Sick snippets of songs in there. Naaiiisss!
Love the stop motion, highly cute
So theyre not motorized? Boo

Wow! This synth is AMAZING! and all the music you made with it UFFFF blows my mind! Looking forward to hear the long tracks!
How you get it all done is beyond me. What a beautifully produced piece !
Nicest sounding Moog I've heard in some time - it veers somewhat from familiar Moog territory which is a massive bonus.
Thank you Andrew , the best and most informative demo of the muse ❤
3:18 Love that lil section once the drums come in
first moog i’ve actually cared about in a decade ..it looks insane. just killing the industry with this one. life changing

your song sounds KILLER !!!!!!
Absolutely inspiring video, Andrew. Looking forward to the finished songs!!
Wow, what a fantastic video and this synth looks game changing!!
what an awesome synth!
I’d really like to hear the full version of that 80s Funk sounding one.
Like that last wall of sound chord mode, that creates a very pop, contemporary sound. I like that short song snippet you stated using that chord mode.
Love that sweater. The synth is pretty cool too.
Nice one, thanks! My Muse is on its way!
Super excited about your collab with Rachel! Also, the post-credit scene is 💯
Wow, Andrew, those knob animations are just the best. Great video work! Now fix that display shutter speed :).
Display wasn’t good at any shutter speed 😘
Love your new music, particularly the AFX style 1st one.
Not only looking forward to the muse but also to “Angel“.
Great video! Nice demo. You’ve made this synth super appealing!

Between the MOOG Muse and the MOTORSYNTH it's awesome to see Hardware making waves again!
Pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbooowwsssss
nice demo Andrew. some very inspiring sounds and performances in your video
Muse is wow ❤❤❤
_Way_ beyond entertaining, Andrew Huang! Thanks!
i just noticed that i am basically watching a moog muse ad haha - and i love it
That arp is phenomenal, both easy and fun, yet really deep, and very very musical. Great demo Andrew, great instrument.
For us who have to make do with Uli's clones this is like an exotic hypercar, but man is it cool! 😀

Wow! I like when Andrew gets to do what he wants
The arpeggiator one and the one with Rachel are my standouts, but I’m an honest man, Andrew…
I want them all. 😄❤️❤️❤️❤️🎵🎵🎵🎵👍🏾

Great video as always. Hi from France !
The way your mic picks up button press noises sounds like a decent kick :D
I was wondering about that. Was thinking it was a strange Moog-supplied audio indicator.

Great video! I will have mine this weekend and should be doing an arrangement demo of my own next week. Excited! :)
Excellent work! Thanks. Are custom Chord Mode settings saved to the patch, or independent like the Seq?
This thing is dope! If I didn't need a new computer I'd get this for sure!
Tame Impala's Kevin Parker just started a synth company! Is that something you'd ever play around with on the channel? That would be amazing.
