If an athlete tells you he's training 6-8 hours a day there are 3 possibilities- (A) He's a liar (B) He's not training hard enough ( C) He is Tony"el cucuy"Ferguson
Checkout my UFC 249 full card predictions. Scored 5/6 correct for UFC 248 and 4/5 correct for UFC 246. Cheers to the real champs, Tony Ferguson and Cejudo. GOD willing, both will win..
I found it useful to take a week off once every 6 weeks of training, whether it was lifting weights or grappling. It allows niggling injuries a chance to heal, and you come back a lot more enthusiastic and ready to go hard again. My old lifting buddy taught me that. YMMV. A couple of rest days a week was also very necessary IMO.
@Dantes230 if you do get sick for a week, then you don't take the week off, that was your week off. It doesn't have to be a religious every 6 week thing either. I did find it useful to keep up intensity. I think I progressed faster in both lifting weights and MMA components than most others but I did come to many training sessions (more per week than most), and always took notes. That was in my twenties. YMMV. For stress fracture, soft cartilage issues etc you can either take some routine time off pre-emptively or you wait until things break and take more time off IME. A week off, you won't forget much and you come back with a zest for it. With months off you forget and lose.conditioning.
@@starhunter9407 that's part of the workout dude. Champ shit only: if you ain't in your fat burning zone during sex for at least an hour you're wasting your time and theirs, lol.
Uncle Chael never needed a rest day. I wonder how he had so much energy to win titles in 3 different divisions, stay undefeated and undisputed as well as talking so well on the mic. 🐐
Awesome! This hits the insulin response / cycle. This then stimulates the Testosterone/ Anabolic response/cycle. Will you share more information regarding hydration and Dietary requirements... Is intermittent fasting meeting performance standards or is there a more advantageous nutrient strategy? Good to you.... P.S. Sylva took too much off time, when he fought you and rested and tried to dictate pace and use distance to execute his timing as he at times seemed to. How did that triangle submission develop? What where you maneuvering toward? Respect.... Great food fight, Sir.....🤛🏻✋🏻💪
@Chael Sonnen what do you think of the high low training philosophy, where you go really hard 2-3days per week and moderate intensity the other days? This is what Joel Jamieson prescribes
The 12-25 minutes idea I don’t think applies to team sports like football you will lose every game If a team did that or 1 person that’s a sports where all gears need to being at the same time
I did recovery after my training sessions with deep tissue, cold sip, and sauna. On off days I do same recovery add light movement and 1:1 thc/cbd balm for joints. Add a nice joint as a cherry on top for relaxation👌🏾
18-24 minutes a day...bro that is BS...what if you are a 100m sprinter or a 5000m runner...you doing 18 mins worth of 100m sprints or running 5000m PR pace for 18-24 mins a day?? Nup. :)
I've been paid to do jui jitsu so I think that makes me a pro. And I have two belts for winning an advanced division. I've also won 4 other advanced divisions and state champion in judo and jui jitsu. I certainly train like one, and I bet you'll see me one day. Thanks for the inspiration :)

What about all of Dagestan? Those dudes are doing some physically strenuous activity sun up to sun down basically
Adrian Hernandez it’s a joke of course other people train hard especially the Dagestan boys
@@agee1961 ya but there's plenty of 10 minute breaks, lunches, and other things in between.

Chael thankyou so much for viewing my question. I really appreciate the advice, hoping to get on an SUG card one of these days as well!
@I offer u this really apreciate that man. I will keep winning and competing until uncle chael P. Has no choice but to out me on a card!

Great advice
If you’re going to do 5 and 2, don’t do the 2 back to back.
Spread the rest days as far as you can. Like Sunday and Wednesday or Thursday.
Herniated disc from running hard 20 days in a row. 2 years to recover only to 80-90%
Worst injury I've ever had.
x z yeah i has a similar problem about 10 years ago, I still have a back problems sneak up on me if I’m not careful
i can relate. one of the harded types of injuries. seems you are doing well, some dont even get to where you are. hope you get to 100% soon.
Oh no, how hard is hard?
And was it solely the running that caused
running is tough on the body. its really important to stretch before and after in my opinion
How did you do that....been running for 16 years competitive with no injuries'. Like how
Chael: if you're a kid you can go swim right away, you can do anything, you can fall off a horse
Children: ok great
But where does Kevin Lee fit into this?
Brenden McColl you’re asking the wrong question....
But how does Conor McGregor fit into this?
But where do the insurance companies fit into all this?
Hahaha
@@jahendrix1543 I see holes in that comment

This has to be one of the most popularizing topics going! Thanks for giving us some clarity!
But Chael, we both know that Tony Ferguson works hard 23 hrs a day, and that's only bc he's on the toilet for the other hr.
So when did he has the time to fuck his wife
nengnengnengable fake news, he is working his abs and doing curls while on the toilet.

Most MMA fighters train 5-6 days a week.
Uncle Chael trains 5-6 weeks per day.
Do things like yoga & coordination drills on off days. Stamina, strength, speed, conditioning comes on your on days.
Are you the new Fabia?
Man Uncle Chael I can hear you talk forever. Always speaking nothing but knowledge. Thank you truly appreciate what you do.
*"He tried feeding a kid a carrot" Chael Sonnen*
Uncle Chael: “You can do anything!”
Me: “Okay, Great.”
Uncle Chael: “Can you fall off a horse?”
Me: *Gets intensively nervous*
Uncle Chael never needed a rest day. I wonder how he had so much energy to win titles in 3 different divisions, stay undefeated and undisputed as well as talking so well on the mic. 🐐
“You will not meet a great athlete who workouts 8 hours a day” Kobe laughing from heaven at this
Only a few with freak genetics and destiny similar.
Anyone get flashbacks of Key and Peele's 'You can do ANYTHING' skit when Uncle Chael was saying that? I did. lol.
I'm a pro Active Rester.
the best question so far
Really appreciate that bro
Thanks for posting so often chael, your vids make my day better, wish i could say the same for myself xD
Cbael shares so much his videos seem like an hour session at the local AA.
How long a basketball game is no one knows, well actully chael we do. Lol.
lmao
lets just say, it lasts awhile.
a meaningful period of time
Yeah I have guys that I work out with that are 26 and 28 and I’m only 18 and they wish they had the youth like I do to workout as much as me
Yeah I know those type of people but they will always find an excuse to do less than you and be like why didn’t make it so...
Having another indoor hobby is good to make you feel less lazy on rest days
Thanks for sneaking that 'Meaningful period of time' in at the end there for all of us Uncle Chael bingo players. :)
You can also go everyday but not as hard, accumulating more total workout volume than the guy who rests for two days. Find what works for you!
Exactly !!!
Watching from Australia 🇦🇺❤️
Australia’s such a nice place it would be nice to visit this summer but unfortunately corona ruined everything
A M it’ll be nice to visit next summer too.
Only Chael could take Saturday off on Friday

big. Play deathmetal drums, very physical. I do 2 days on and one day off and it's the most effective cycle for me.
Great topic 💪🔥🙌
Thankyou sir
Top 3 Olympic Medal table at the last 2 Olympics has actually been USA, China, Great Britain Chael. No Russia.
@Dantes230 He was talking about the overall medal table. USA, China, Great Britain have been top 3 for the last 2 Olympics.
The 12-25 minutes idea I don’t think applies to team sports like football you will lose every game If a team did that or 1 person that’s a sports where all gears need to being at the same time
Pavel Tsatsuline has great insights on that topic in easy training book

Depends, is USADA involved?
Ultra Runners must be in a different category of athlete lol
Wasn't the actual country of Russia banned from the Olympics for continual doping violations?
yes, that's how they got all of those medals they had like a whole state backed system to get away with it
Where do I post my fan questions?
heart rate chest band, app elite HRV - you are welcome
I think 4/5h a day 5-6x a week or 5x a week and 1x just the morning session. Sunday's off 😂
How do you upload a question?
It couldn’t get more sense that this
Chael do you think Jorge is in his prime right now?

Some say no one knows how long a basketball game lasts to this very day
I'm wondering if you think Tony Ferguson is a weight version of Jon Jones I keep hearing this just wondering what your thoughts are
M Bully also keep and mind the other guy doesn’t know shit and Jon Jones is the goat with the longest reach ever in the ufc tied with Stephan struve
Chael is all facts

The biggest arms in West Linn never rested a day throughout his career. #Undisputed #Undefeated #NeverLostARound
Rumor has it that Chael Sonnen's arms are so large he legally can't go near the ocean because the gravitational pull they possess disrupts the tides
However long a basketball game is, nobody knows but it seems like two hours 😂
DO YOU HAVE REGRETS FROM WHEN YOU ALMOST BEAT ANDERSON SILVA????!
You mean when he beat Anderson to become the undisputed middleweight champion? Common mistake, no judgement here.
I offer u this lets be realistic here kid.
Anthony Hertlein sorry my mistake
Cam Haynes trains for hours a day most days. I guess everyone is different
Would bill beat chael?
Congrats on 500k subscribers. I used to like you back in the day, but once you yourself couldn't tell if you were lying or not, that was enough.
Why is Ben Askren sending Chael fan questions
Maybe chael should watch icarus...
Was that first fan Ben Askrens little brother?
rest as hard as you train
