So, in the beginning of the movie Dani’s mom and sister die because her sister attached the hoses to the exhaust pipes of the car in the garage. The exhaust from the first tube filled the parents bedroom, killing them in their sleep. The 2nd, she attached to her face.

Worst thing about being cooked alive in a bear carcass: the fat in the carcass would heat up and melt before getting to you, thus instead of being burned, you would essentially be melted in hot fat. 10/10 in worst ways to go.
The freakiest and coolest thing about this movie is how nobody lies about their culture. The entire time Pele tells half truths, but none of them ever lies when asked outright, only when covering up the murders. It truly shows that they see nothing wrong with their ways of thinking. That, and how it is never complete night time. Having the sun constantly shining with brightness and tranquility amongst a cult is so aesthetically different to the entire horror genre, I think it's part of what really made this movie stand out.
See thats what i like most about this movie. They didnt use a cult, that would give you a big bad to hate. This is just their culture, they have lived like this for centuries. It makes it harder to pick someone to hate on.
At 55:06 - "I bet no one else has ever died like that." Actually, that was another Viking ritual torture, to be burned alive in a bear. The bear skin constricts as it burns, squishing the person inside, as they are being cooked. So which aspect kills him? The burning? The asphyxiation because of smoke inhalation? The crushing of his organs? It's hard to say which comes first, but I am sure that all of it is painful.
As disturbing as this movie is, I think it's beautifully written and the cinematography is so good. Horror is one of my favorites genres so I really appreciate when it's done well. 💕

Omg yes the screeching music was way too loud in this movie 😭 like dam turn it down lol. Now that I think of it, it’s purposely done like that to make u uncomfortable. Totally goes with the plot of the movie!
@@katwebbxo i have a theory about that. What if they only meant the feast happens every 90 years, but they do the murders every year? Because there has to be an annual may queen based on the photos we are shown. And we dont see any of the other may queens in the entire movie. It doesnt make sense that it would only happen once every 90 years if they have dozens of actual photographs and not jusr drawings of may queens? And the attestupe has to happen almost annually if not annually, people get killed at 72
@@adamsmasher9769 That's definitely possible. I've wondered about it too. Idk how many people live there but there's has to be somebody reaching that age more often than 90 years.
Enjoyed the reaction- have to saying it's easier to notice things you brush past on the first watch. I'm not sure if you noticed, but around the few scenes after Connie isn't seen- you can hear a womans screams- about three times spread out. It's also hinted that she was trying to get away when Mark says "I saw Connie trying out for the sprinting Olympics earlier." Meaning she was seriously running- Pelle interrupts to keep them from asking more questions. They also treat Dani different from the others- they welcome everyone, but tell Dani "Welcome Home". They try to introduce Dani the most to their customs, like the meat pie making, dancing, and the way they dress. I have heard some say there's a theory that Pelle was the one who killed her family making it look like suicide, taking the parents with the sister. Since Dani says the message was very strange- and not like her. It would make her more likely to be vulnerable to join the cult, and make sure Christian couldn't break up with her before the trip. Pelle seems very fixated and happy about her coming- like it was part of his plan all along, even before she's invited. At the same time it still could be her sister doing it. Her message to Dani I think was during it happening, everything is black- meaning the exhaust fumes were filling up the room and house. It likely was the last message she sent before dying right there. I do think even if Dani didn't go, the events that happened would have still gone the way they did. Dani was very isolated and left alone a lot. Christian still would have 'mated' with the young girl, it just would have been more open from his end. Simon and Connie would have still freaked out, and made the village upset- resulting in their deaths. Josh still would have tried to get pictures- and have been killed. Mark still would have done something 'foolish' or disrespectful to their culture- and have been killed. And Christian likely would have been chosen by one of the May Queens if it wasn't Dani. From their perspective he would have been a stranger, and easier to pick over the rest of the village members.
Great reaction guys! I like the guy in the middle, sorry forgot his name but he always seems so clued into what's going on! Love it ! Also more reactions to All of us are dead please!
(spoilers) i think the part where they were singing their moans and crying with Dani was to illustrate the lack of individuality inside the cult. they share even feelings. ofc that Dani, that lost her family and is estranged from her awful bf is more susceptible to the cult in her vulnerability. not having to feel all of that alone anymore in exchange for her free will. it's what cults do.
I found you yesterday (since it's after midnight now) through Parasite and clicked on this because I've seen it already XD Absolutely love your channel and I can't wait for you to watch Hereditary now. Hereditary is by Ari Aster the same director as this film and Hereditary was his directorial debut and is phenomenal. Midsommar came out the year afterward and Ari Aster called this the ultimate breakup movie. I will not say anything about Hereditary because it's best to go into it not knowing anything about it but it is one of my absolute favorite movies hands down. Hereditary and All About Evil with Natasha Lyonne are my recommendations for sure!
Another great movie that delves into differing cultures is the original 1973 version of The Wicker Man. If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it.
I think her sister bringing her parents with her was alot of people who do comit murder suicides do it because they dont want their parents to be the one who find them. They dont want their parents to suffer after they are gone. It doesnt make it right AT all but the thinking behind it kinda makes sense in a way.
Since after that movie Florence Pugh the May Queen now only cooks all her meals for movie sets. When she signed on with Marvel she put in her contract that she be in control of her meals and nutrition. This pagan magic, voodoo stuff is pretty real world.

I think you'd end up frying
And well that they are in a bear carcass. Alive. And not being able to Move, Talk, or do anything.
Um. No. You would be burned. You don’t get turned to liquid just because the fat has liquified. That isn’t how that works.
Either way you are being cooked to death. Idk how which one is worse
Something that’s worth pointing out is the movie only showed 4 out of the 9 days of the festival… it’s not over
…this comment sent shivers down my spine
At 55:06 - "I bet no one else has ever died like that." Actually, that was another Viking ritual torture, to be burned alive in a bear. The bear skin constricts as it burns, squishing the person inside, as they are being cooked. So which aspect kills him? The burning? The asphyxiation because of smoke inhalation? The crushing of his organs? It's hard to say which comes first, but I am sure that all of it is painful.
through this reaction i’m going through the comments reading all the comments you’ve written 😂
As disturbing as this movie is, I think it's beautifully written and the cinematography is so good. Horror is one of my favorites genres so I really appreciate when it's done well. 💕
It’s funny because the director said this is just a really fucked up break up story.
"don't some of these european countries not get dark?" "that's alaska" hahahaha this was such an american take
The screaming in unison was to show empathy (something Dani never got from Christian). So she really did feel a since of family and support.
No, it was to fake empathy. It’s a classic cult tactic.
The scissors in the baby's bed are probably to protect it from being taken by trolls and replaced with a changeling.
I really enjoyed y’all’s reaction! This movie is so disturbing, but I love it. If you ever get the chance to watch the director’s cut, I highly recommend it. It goes a little deeper into Christian & Dani’s relationship, and he looks like even more of a douche!😂 You guys need to watch Hereditary!🙌
Omg yes the screeching music was way too loud in this movie 😭 like dam turn it down lol.
Now that I think of it, it’s purposely done like that to make u uncomfortable. Totally goes with the plot of the movie!
48:25 They aren't mocking her, they're empathizing with her.
No, they aren’t. They are faking empathy. The fact that so many people like you actually believe their manipulations is fuckin terrifying.
I am glad that none of the midsummer celebrations I've attended had ended up like this... 🤣🤣
Maybe it hasn't been 90 years yet since the last time lol
From their perspective he would have been a stranger, and easier to pick over the rest of the village members.
i absolutely love midsommar, great reaction!!!🐻
Bro y’all HAVE to watch Mother! (2017) starring Jennifer Lawrence… that Movie is NUTS your reaction would be so good
simon wasn't alive in the blood eagle scene. his lungs were moving from christian's POV, to show us he was under drugs
Great reaction guys! I like the guy in the middle, sorry forgot his name but he always seems so clued into what's going on! Love it ! Also more reactions to All of us are dead please!
I think it may just be me but I'm having a hard time keeping up with whats going on in the movie because I can barely hear the audio...
haven't even watched yet but this is my favourite movie so thank you guys
Is hereditary next or WUT
yall should do black swan
(spoilers) i think the part where they were singing their moans and crying with Dani was to illustrate the lack of individuality inside the cult. they share even feelings. ofc that Dani, that lost her family and is estranged from her awful bf is more susceptible to the cult in her vulnerability. not having to feel all of that alone anymore in exchange for her free will. it's what cults do.
How was this a spoiler
React to Hereditary next!
was looking forward to this vid. hell yeah boys
THIS IS PERFECT!!! I was just about to look for something to sit down and watch while I eat pasta thank you lol
it's all part of the "good for her" cinematic universe
Idk why I’m watching this cause this movie traumatized tf outta me 😩
this movie gave me anxiety, depression, panic attack and what not.....till date havent watched it till end
12:22 in this part of the movie the old guy says "welcome HOME" to Dani... yikes
This movie really surprised me with his good it was, once the women all breathed together I knew she felt held.
Another great movie that delves into differing cultures is the original 1973 version of The Wicker Man. If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it.
Yes, the original only! 👍
One of my all time fav movies so happy to see this when I refreshed my home page!!!
Y’all should review Mandy it’s an amazing nic cage film
come on now Rob dont look at me like that i’m shyyyy 😳
It's safe to say that Josh's thesis will never be published.
you guys should watch this new movie fresh. its a horror
What makes it horror? Loss of family, loss of agency, loss of self.
Oh and also please watch not only Mandy, but also Hereditary, and the original Wickerman.
[Edit]: Also do The VVitch, and The Blair Witch Project.
