Danny was flawless and one of the most underrated dancers of all SYTYCD seasons. I too got tired of the judges labeling him as arrogant. He's gorgeous, can't help that!
I felt sorry for Danny because the judges were very hard on him for the majority of the season. They saw arrogance or a missing "it" factor which always baffled me because every time he was on stage, my eyes were glued to him. Easily the most beautiful dancer on that show - period.
+Melodica It's because they knew that he was far too talented for the show and if they were nice to him he would have undoubtedly won. He was robbed! He came from American Ballet Theatre and was just an all-round brilliant dancer.
Oh Danny. I can't believe you're gone. I never knew you but your exquisite movement touched my soul. You'll never know the impact your beautiful gift had on millions around the world. And to be gone at the tender age of 35 is the greatest tragedy of all. A master. RIP.
I’ve watched every season of this show, to this day Danny Tidwell is my favorite! His artistry bought me to tears every time he graced the stage. I never saw him as arrogant, just someone who was damn good at what he did! Still pissed that he didn’t win. Rest well my beautiful butterfly.
"And when my life is over, remember when we were together" - lyrics in the very first solo.... You will be remembered, Danny. 35 is way too young. I know the family is hurting, friends and other loved ones too... rest in peace.
3 years later, thank you for breathing new life into Brian McKnight's song for me. Rest in eternal peace Danny. Your light shines so far ... Love from Kenya.
I’ve heard of his recent passing and watching this... it hurts. I see what an amazingly beautiful talent he was. The light didn’t just shine on him, he glowed from within. I have chills watching him dance. The world lost such a rare treasure.
Best dancer ever to appear on SYTYCD. I was fortunate enough to meet Danny and he was sweet, charming and shy. Breaks my heart that he's gone - he was such a beautiful soul and a genius on the dance floor. It was such a joke when he didn't win his season. Makes me angry to think how he was robbed because of a bunch of dumbass judges and their idiotic comments.
With hearing he passed away today, I had to come back to this video and watch his artistry. Throughout all the seasons, he has been my favorite. And yes they did him a disservice and he struck me as stage arrogant, and personally shy. He knew how he shined when dancing and gave of look like, you can't take this from me, but then speaking on the mic, he showed his shyness.
I hated it when they said that about him. Especially when he danced he was so confident and when he spoke it's almost like he shrunk. He was my absolute favorite on this show.
I come from his studio n grew up with him at Denise walls no one will dance to his calliber or how he makes a it flawless n easy Side note abc ( American ballet theatre) took him as a primo or prime dancer which is un heard of He is the mj of dance
RIP Danny. You were such a joy to be around. Thank you for sharing your seat with me on the bus and being so welcoming. Endlessly talented. Gone too soon. You'll be missed love. ❤️
My favorite contestant ever on SYTYCD!! He has such beauty and grace when he dances and it all flows together so beautifully. I wish we could see more of him.
As I just posted on Facebook, he was the most talented reality-contestant I've ever seen on any show; and his half brother, Travis Wall (the winner that year), knew it, too. Was he a bit arrogant in his presentation at times? Maybe. But, how could you not be? Have you ever seen anyone turn that flawlessly? Have you ever seen anyone with that kind of athleticism mixed with artistry? Maybe? But, personally, I haven't. RIP to Tidwell-glad I got the opportunity to see such talent to help reinforce what a "standard" should be in an increasingly standard less society.
@Jon Hallstein Travis Wall didn't win that year. Sabra Johnson won; she and Danny were the Final Two. I know this, because I sat and watched and voted all night for the BOTH of them (back then you could vote as many times as you wanted). I wanted both to be winners, but Sabra took it. Then I wished that all my votes for Sabra had all gone for Danny instead...But Danny was never a loser in my eyes. I never saw Danny as ARROGANT. He was GREAT and yes, truly how does a Performer who is GREAT supposed to act? He was a Performer, a Dancer and a lovely Human Being and with that HATERS always look for reasons to throw shade. RIP Danny, You Were LOVED!
@@ladyintellect4667 And when Sabra won, I'll never forget how Danny showed so much joy for her sake, rather than his own disappointment. A class act, full of grace, in both his dancing and his heart. I can't help crying, watching this old video.
he popped into my head the other day and i decided to youtube his name. it was through here that i learned he had passed away. i am shocked and saddened. he was definitely one of the more memorable dancers on this show. i always remembered him because of his beautiful spins. the only other time i've seen spins that beautiful was on ice. the ones that judged him complained he was arrogant. they were confused, because it was obvious he danced with confidence. my favorite dances of him was the one with lacey (hip hip chin chin) and the "battle" with neil. RIP Danny.
My favorite dancer is Gone.. May he dance with the lord now😢😢 May we find strength to live without him... this video hits a lot different now man.. GOD WATCH OVER HIS MOTHER AND FAMILY!! MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES 😢😢🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
Watching the late, GREAT Danny Tidwell dance, was like witnessing a new & stunningly bronze comet shoot across the stage. Rest well with the angels, & dance with fire inside of your own boundless galaxy! Goodnight, sweet prince.
Amazing ballet & contemporary dancer. I remember his season and choreos like it was yesterday, I always believed he was going to be the winner however the show is not based on who’s the best dancer, but who’s the America’s favorite dancer moreover without doubt he was the best of the season so far. It’s very sad to know he died in a car crash RIP 🙏🏻
He is one of the most beautiful dancer's I have ever seen. Seeing him dance brings me to tears sometimes. Such emotion, such heart, such love of dance. He is the real deal. I never felt like he was arrogant. We all have different levels of confidence and he is just a confident man when he is doing something he loves and is great at. I love the arts and I love Danny Tidwell the dancer because that's who I know.
LOVED LOVED LOVED DANNY!!! Hate to say it, but he was robbed in s3, and so was Travis, but Danny especially, because his competition was so under his level it was ridick.
So very sorry to hear of this young man’s transition.....He was an extraordinary dancer.....I was very put off when he was called arrogant on So You Think You Can Dance......I was aware it was because of jealousy.......Jealousy because they saw something they didn’t have.......would never have no matter how much they tried to achieve it.......I found Danny rather humble and a pure treasure ......Thank you for sharing your gift .....Blessings.....💕💫✨
I remember how Mia Michaels and Shane Sparks would criticize Danny for being arrogant. In fact, they totally ripped Danny apart for being arrogant. To this day, I consider Mia and Shane's criticism to be shameful and unprofessional. It was their job to critique Danny's proficiency as a dancer...period. Their criticism only served to thwart the credibility of the show as a legitimate dance competition and make it more of a popularity contest. Danny was an accomplished professional dancer who was essentially competing amongst amateurs. Disagree if you must, but there was no reason for him not to have at least been a little arrogant because he was actually just that good.
Preach! I agree with you 1,000% ! At some point Shane gave some half hearted apology for his reckless comment, by then the damage was done. Danny was magical! He had "It" in spades!
Even after all these years, I agree that Danny was hands down the BEST dancer ever! I could not take my eyes off him EVER! He was confident in his dancing because that's where he felt most comfortable. But everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I'm not a professional. I just think the judges really screwed him because they didn't want three men winning in a row.
With hearing he passed away today, I had to come back to this video and watch his artistry. Throughout all the seasons, he has been my favorite. THIS ALL OF THIS. When he first auditioned, I gasped and declared he would win. He was my only wrong prediction, but it's because the judges were horrendous to him, continually blaming him for he and Anya being in the bottom, when in fact the moment Danny no longer had Anya as his partner cause she finally got eliminated, he WAS NEVER IN THE BOTTOM AGAIN. I love Sabra but this was Danny's to win and now his beautiful soul has left us, may he rest in love and peace.
OMG ... how is it possible that this man did not win and is not a superstar now. Makes me mental that America let him slip through their fingers. Imagine what we would see from him if he were still in North America. Shame on you for not championing this extraordinary talent.
It was sad to see him have to dance for his life and safety on the show due to the bias the "established" choreographers had for him but at the same time he SHINED! He RISED. His Talent and artistry came through in those solos. I pray his family and friends are comforted -he is at peace and at rest and we as fans have forums like this to remember what a creative artist and dancer he was in his own right.
This really is a dead heroes society, and it's only after you're gone that people choose to say how great you were, what it was that you did that inspired them, etc. Am sure this young man would have loved to hear all the positive things that people thought of him while he was alive. Now that he has transitioned that is when "we" come out and praise him and say how awesome he was, sad indeed. R.I. P. Danny!

Rip to Danny Tidwell. Definitely one of the best dancers that ever came to that stage.
Watching him is like watching PURE JOY !!!

I just learned of his passing. One of the best dancers I've ever seen! Definitely the best male dancer to ever dance on sytycd! Rip

Totally agree. But they LOVED Travis wall 🙄
Judge envy.
He was confident and unfortunately sometimes that makes people uncomfortable
RIP to a savant of dance. My mom and I used to watch this show and he was always her favorite. So sad. Praying for him and his family.
Me and my watched him as well. So sad
He was a dancer and warrior
Oh Danny. I can't believe you're gone. I never knew you but your exquisite movement touched my soul. You'll never know the impact your beautiful gift had on millions around the world. And to be gone at the tender age of 35 is the greatest tragedy of all. A master. RIP.

And for the whole-wide world to know........... THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A DANCER, BEFORE OR AFTER DANNY.... like Danny!!!!! Ever.
Yes there has Gregg Burge back in the 80's from the Movie A Chorus Line.
"And when my life is over, remember when we were together" - lyrics in the very first solo.... You will be remembered, Danny. 35 is way too young. I know the family is hurting, friends and other loved ones too... rest in peace.
Danny is STILL the best dancer this show has ever had. His lines...how he worked the camera...everything.
3 years later, thank you for breathing new life into Brian McKnight's song for me. Rest in eternal peace Danny. Your light shines so far ... Love from Kenya.
