  • A look inside Engine 61's house when they still used its E-One/Ford pumper and received calls from the Joker's Stand and Squawkbox!

    My Dad was killed in 12-17-53. I was 7, my bro. 11. He became a firefighter too. Retired
    in '99. Deceased '07 (Brain tumor/cancer). I still look for them in pictures/stories. My
    heart is broken & doesn't heal-I love all firefighter people. GOD BLESS YOU ALL --
    Chief Geo. Malik (sister)

    It`s amazing how small the cabs of the older trucks are. To the cabs of the trucks today.

      The Ford C 8000 was a cheap option compared to the custom cabs of today. They were also cheap as my old department had on of those cabs back in the early 80 s

    Altho we don't have pull boxes in town anymore, our ticker tape system still works punching out 4 dots, we recently restored and put it in a nice case so it will work for another 100yrs

      glen power-williams Love their look, but the Cat 3208 diesel is one of the worst-performing engines made. I think a total of 250hp. I think the turbocharged version barely made 300.

    When my father was a Relief Engineer in the 1st District in the late 90s, He was detailed to Engine 103 and they had a 1982 Ford/E-One 1250/500 Pumper just like this rig shown in the video. When my father was a Candidate Firefighter on Truck 5 in 1987, Engine 23 had a 1982 Ford/E-One 1250/500 Pumper and a 1972 Mack CF/Pirsch 100' Rear-Mount Aerial Ladder Truck. A year after my father joined the Fire Department, Truck 5 would get a brand new 1988 E-One Hurricane 95' Rear-Mount Aerial Platform Ladder Truck and the Company was now known as Tower Ladder 5.

    That's a C- model Ford, one of the most popular mid size truck chassis for that period. Wondering what date this was filmed.

      And again regardless back then they would not have been able to do much for the victim . FYI it was right around the block . Engine 61 was a top notch company one of the best . One of the most aggressive company’s in the city .

      That slow turn out is a disgrace! If you hate what the job requires, then quit! Don't drag your feet going to medical just because you don't like them. What if it was their family member in need of help?

    Not bad...but a totally volunteer fire dept where I used to live had about the same response time; another VFD in another town had an engine just like this...till the Chief overturned it going around a curve...the water did it....he decided it was time to hang up his hat...

    I forget the stupid codes for the box, must've been an ambo assist .. The sad thing is they still have long push-outs like that to this day in some houses !

    • @metraforce441
      @metraforce441 Год назад

      I would say in most houses. Out of all the times I’ve went out to different houses I very rarely get a fast turnout time. You’ll only see that on fire runs which is definitely needed but wish EMS calls were taken more seriously like fires (maybe not crazy fast).
