I just saw them in concert last week and it was the best concert I’ve ever been to! I’m not a dancer but I wanted to dance like a mofo to a lot of songs! They’ve got soul, groove, rock, blues all rolled up into one!
@@grandpaslayer6232Yeah, that was a nice cover of one of Otis Redding's best tunes. It was their first break out hit, but I remember feeling a bit annoyed that the fact that it was a cover wasn't talked about much at the time. I can still remember a few in the musical press talking about it as if it was some amazing creation by them. Don't get me wrong, they did a great job covering it but it was still a cover. Even though I preferred it to the older/dated musical style of the Otis version you still got to acknowledge and show respect for the source. To the Crowes credit the band and more reputable members of the music press did acknowledge Otis. The Crowes were not the ones to blame for the way the music press handled things. It was just a shame considering the history of rock world "borrowing" from the soul & blues world without the respect or acknowledgement from huge acts of the time. From the outright theft that Zeppelin was famous for to the unfairness shown to other musicians during the rise of Elvis. Like I said, none of this was on the Crowes but it was a reminder that the industry still sucked. It's something that has gotten much better today now that the internet allows us to inform ourselves and we don't need to rely on others to allow us access to knowledge. It's much more difficult to keep people in the dark. Sorry if this went outside the usual conversation topic. I'm a bit of a musical history buff.
Been to 24 shows since 1994. Took my son to see them for his first concert. They used to never play the same set twice so it was always a different show.
Best band of their era, hands down! They take you to church on this one! So many awesome tunes to check out by these cats. Jealous Again, Remedy, Thorn in my Pride, just to scratch the surface.
The most 70's 90's band ever!! Awesome band, saw them live !! Remedy hits hard. Their lyrics, vocals and compositions are first rate. They have always had an Alman Brothers vibe to me.
Man, this was one of my stepping stones in the 80’s. Helped me keep grooving to good music through the bad music minefield of the 80’s. Saw them close to 30 years ago and they were fantastic! Love this band!
The Black Crowes are another local band (Marietta, Ga) That were huge in the late 80's thru the early 2000's and are still around. Chris Robinson's voice is amazing.
I've been really enjoying your reactions and based on your appreciation for the Allmans and Zeppelin, I've been waiting for you guys to get to the Black Crowes! You're in for a treat, great blend of Classic and Southern Rock. Jealous Again, Wiser Time, Twice as Hard, Remedy, Descending, the list goes on...they are worth a deep dive! Keep 'em coming!
Lots of good stuff from them, Amazing back up singers in "REMEDY"...! "Thorn In My Pride" is a great tune that might not get as many requests as some others. First two albums are solid.
The Black Crowes were fantastic! I always felt they were over-shadowed by the grunge explosion in the early 90s and never really got their due. Southern rock and soul-inflected bangers, great playing, solid song-writing, the whole deal. Their cover of Hard to Handle is one of my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any choice for what's next.
I bought this on vinyl when it came out. It was one of the last major releases on vinyl before vinyl rose from the dead in the 2010's. I got it before any singles hit other than Hard to Handle. They were opening in a complete mis-match for the Michael Shanker Group at Toads Place in New Haven Connecticut (the Crowes' portion of that 1990 show is up on RUclips). Because of the complete genre mismatch, the audience didn't know any of their stuff, not even Hard to Handle, but I already listened to the album at least 100 times. I was singing along to every song so loud at the top of my lungs, that when the music stopped for the acapella break on Hard to Handle, you could actually hear me yelling along with Chris Robinson the singer. My girlfriend at the time was on crutches, so we couldn't stand for the whole show we had to go sit off to the side after 2/3 of their set. I had been the only visible fan in the audience, waving that vinyl record and a sharpie in the air the whole time from about 20 feet from the stage. Chris noticed us, and after their set came to find us at our table, signed the album and shook our hands. On the way home, I had placed the signed LP on the ledge of the backseat window of my 1975 Dodge Dart. Being 19 and horny, my girlfriend and I pulled over at a rest stop on the way home to get busy. We ended-up steaming up the windows so bad, the moisture warped the record jacket. So I have a signed, warped 1st pressing to remember that epic night by... Something I'll never forget.
This band is great. Usually more upbeat. Remedy, Hard to Handle, Jealous Again , Thorn in My Pride & many will tell you about the ballad She Talks to Angles.
Great reaction guys! The next song you should check out is “Remedy” and watch the official video. It’s definitely a banger. Chris Robinson is the front man and he brings a lot of energy!!
“Seeing Things” , while largely loved by BC fans, i personally don’t believe ever got it’s flowers like many of their more popular radio hits. But they wrote and recorded some timeless music. Believe it. Check out their cover of the Ottis Redding’s song “Hard to Handle”
This album in many ways is the last “Classic Rock” album. The whole thing is full of bangers “She Talks to Angels” “Hard to Handle” (Otis Redding cover), “Jealous Again” “Twice as Hard”. So much soul. Lead singer Chris Robinson, his brother Rich is the lead guitar. They were just so damn good, but never made that rise to the level they deserved. Worth checking out more.
They're from Georgia and are basically 90s version of 70s Southern Rock. Watch the official video for Remedy, they have a lot of character & it's fun to watch them perform & their great women backup singers are in it.
Oh you guys are going to love Black Crowes--just freaking fantastic southern blues rock. Take all the recommendations below! She Talks to Angels is just one of the best songs ever.
You guys must hit up She Talks to Angels. One of the all time ballads. Rick Mayoh Sr. And I have a whole Black Crowes list for you guys, others beat us to it!
This definitely has "With a Little Help from My Friends" vibes, the Joe Cocker version. The Black Crowes did a series of concerts with Jimmy Page back in '99, where they played Zeppelin and Crowes songs together, they play Zeppelin very well too. A lot of footage is out there.
One of my favorite bands of all time the soul blues and funk they put out is fantastic. I've seen them live 6 times and every show was awesome it's a great positive vibe enjoy the rabbit hole, fellas 🧂🇺🇸
It’s been a while. I’m so glad that you guys gave a listen to The Black Crowes. The Shake Your Money Maker album is phenomenal. It showcases every aspect of the band’s ability to hit home runs whether it’s blues, soul or hard driving rock and roll! Their cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle “ is superb. Looking forward to more ❤
Awesome reaction. Bad Luck Blue Eyes Goodbye is the next Crowes track you should check out. Wiser Time, Remedy, Thorn in my Pride are all also winners.
When the first album came out I thought--well here is the return of music from when I was a kid--early 70s blues-based rock with a kick-ass lead singer. Lots of songs to review, and you can go through the whole of the first album to begin with.
Some of the best live shows I've seen were the Black Crowes. These guys have a great catalog. This awesome song is just one side of them. They can seriously rock out too. Back in SF and Oakland, they'd have local backup singers roll thru for a few songs sometimes. Glad you guys are checking them out.
To me, the Black Crows are one of the most underrated bands ever. Every album they did (new one coming out in 2024, first one in 15 years) we’re quality. They have very few bad songs. Quality!
I got to see them once... They cancelled a show in Houston, so they later made it up and GAVE AWAY tickets for free! I camped out for them, because in those days you could, and saw once eof the absolutely coolest shower ever! They had two huge platforms out in the audience with belly dancers performing before the show started..... They ended up making a live album from that show called "Black Crows High in Houston"!!!!
This is such a great rock band, lots of beautiful rock tunes to explore. Here's another song and a music video of them performing, if interested. "The Black Crowes - Twice As Hard (VEVO)" (channel: Black Crowes) --This song was released in their 1990 debut album called "Shake Your Money Maker" the song was also included in their "Greatest Hits 190-1999: A Tribute To A Work In Progress" album.
Love The Black Crowes! They are a blend of Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones, and The Allman Brothers. They recorded and toured with Jimmy Page and have a live recording and video. Thanks for this review! Keep rocking' La and Che! Happy New Year!
Check out "Remedy" and "Sting Me". They also do a great cover of Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle". The entire Shake Your Money Maker album was great, if you were looking for an entire album to react to, like you've done with some Sabbath albums, I think you'd both would enjoy Shake Your Money Maker.
Great reaction! I saw these cool cats in 1992, the show happened to fall on my birthday so that was cool too, the scene was at the Greek theatre in Los Angeles CA. They were. and still are one of the best bands from the 90's. Peace!
FINALLY! Been waiting for you brothers to get to Black Crowes! FANTASTIC band. Southern rock tainted with a heavy dose of blues. For sure you've heard a few of their tunes. Jimmy Page did several live shows with the Black Crows. Very soulful fusion band for their time. Please do more reactions as they will not disappoint but open up new music to some of your followers.
This is one of those records that is so good you skip past the massive hits and dive into the deep tracks. They did release this as the last of five singles, but it wasn't played to death like Hard to Handle, etc. Just a phenomenal album front to back.
These guys did a whole show with Jimmy Page (for some reason) years ago. Not really being a fan of either band (for some reason), I still watched the whole thing (for some reason). The whole show was fire. The reason? Zeppelin's songs are amazing, this guy has a great voice, and the band is very solid.
The Crowes were legit! If you get around to their second album (Southern Harmony And Musical Companion,) every track on it is a banger.
That album is ridiculous. If I play one track, I feel disloyal to the others.
Truth. To me, “Southern Harmony…” is a true *album*. It is meant to be listened to as a single work. Masterful.
Yeah, great is an understatement for that album, very very underrated band.
One of the great albums of the 90’s!
I agree with every single thing said here to this point...the best Black Crowes album...period.
I just saw them in concert last week and it was the best concert I’ve ever been to! I’m not a dancer but I wanted to dance like a mofo to a lot of songs! They’ve got soul, groove, rock, blues all rolled up into one!
LOVE This!!!!! Blues, gospel, rock + honest killer lyrics and music!
Saw them in concert last year. Best concert in awhile!
Sometimes Salvation, Cursed Diamond, Sister Luck, Conspiracy...so many great Black Crowes songs to delve into...good journey!
"She Talks To Angels," "Remedy," "Wiser Time," and "Hotel Illness" to name a few...Great band; great reaction!!
Thorn in my pride
That first album is worth a deep dive.
Listen to the hard to handle by the black crows . You will love it. #ROCKON

In the era of grunge. The Crowes managed to get their groove in!
The only band that I have ever paid to see more than once...
So underated.💜
Been to 24 shows since 1994. Took my son to see them for his first concert. They used to never play the same set twice so it was always a different show.
Love the Crowes for carrying the old school rock torch when it seemed to be fading away.
I remember when they first came out the so called critics said they were 30yrs too late, great music is great music, no matter when it comes out

Deep rabbit hole to go down with the Crowes. Best band of their era imho.
Multiple thumbs up!!! Do the whole album, they're all GEMS! One of the best debut albums by a rock band ever.
100%! Came here to say this. Start with first album, side one, song one. Every song is a chart-worthy single.
@@sheila1965troublesPersonally, I think the second album is their finest work, though the first 3 albums are all at the pinnacle of rock.
The "By your Side" album start to finish is just crazy good ..
the first two black crowes albums are fantastic. this song is like going to church
You're tripping the first 4 are classic albums. Amorica and 3 snakes are great records
I’d say the first 3 are all absolute classics & the 4th is just behind those.
The Black Crowes are perfect blend of R&B, Southern Rock with a touch of gospel and soul…
Beautiful❤Soulful!
It up their songs,Remedy, She talks to Angles, Hard to Handle.

Haven’t listened to this song in so long. Thank you for covering it. Aaron Lowe’s and Staind Hint Hint
Sometimes Salvation!! Best BK song

There's nothing like a good riff on an Organ. Dude is going off on this! Love this song!
GUYS! Check out She Talks To Angels ACOUSTIC VERSION on the 30th Anniversary version of their first album. It is soul shaking.

That’s off of their first album which is amazing. Several hits & jams on this album. They’re out of Georgia. Great band.
These guys definitely brought a resurgence to the southern rock movement and at the time it was greatly needed! Cheers Happy New Year.

They recorded a live album with jimmy page..doing both black crows and zeppelin songs

burnt 1/2 of a bic to that live long ago. What a time and memories. Thanks guys

One of their very best tunes, no doubt. The BK have always had a good dose of Gospel in their music. SO MANY incredible songs from this band.
One of the best albums of the 1990s. Every song is great, and this may be the best song on the album.
I'm glad you guys are finally getting to the Crowes, one of my favorite bands! I think you guys will dig them if you keep going, I'm lovin' it!
This is such a great rock band, lots of beautiful rock tunes to explore. Here's another song and a music video of them performing, if interested. You guys are killing it these last few days. Taking me to church. More & more black crows Please. Happy New Year
Remedy is my favorite song of theirs.
Another great group to react to is The Black Keys!! 😊❤
They do a Zep tune "10 years gone " and Jimmy Page plays guitar on it it's 🔥
What a great song from a great debut album! Bought this when it first came out!
chuck leavell kills it on organ & piano,,,
You won't find a bad Black Crowes song. I can't for you to review more. Definitely one of my all time favorite bands.
Peace!
Holla to all my Black Crowes compadres!!
Happy New Year Rosie!!!
FINALLY! Been waiting for you brothers to get to Black Crowes! FANTASTIC band. Southern rock tainted with a heavy dose of blues. For sure you've heard a few of their tunes. This one was one of their slower, more bluesy tracks, but they are rockers at heart. As other commenters have said, almost anything from their first two albums is great, but here's a few suggestions...Twice As Hard, Jealous Again, Hard To Handle (Otis Redding cover), Remedy, Thorn in My Pride, Sometimes Salvation, Gone, High Head Blues, Under A Mountain, and Blackberry.
You are 100% correct, Chris Robinson, the lead singer has a tremendous rock voice and charisma. He and his brother, Rich, the rhythm guitarist, formed the band right here in suburban Atlanta. Chris was married for a few years to Kate Hudson, the actress. The band recently got back together after a long hiatus and I saw them here in Atlanta in 2021. They are releasing a new album this year.
Speaking of seeing them in 2021, the opening act for their show was a very solid new rock band called Dirty Honey. That band is KILLER! Keeping old school rock and roll alive. And the singer can BLOW live. Check out some of their stuff, the tracks that have the most views/listens would be the ones you want.
Cheers, fellas!
Jimmy Page did several live shows with the Black Crows. Very soulful fusion band for their time. Please do more reactions as they will not disappoint but open up new music to some of your followers.
Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes - Live at the Greek
This is one of those records that is so good you skip past the massive hits and dive into the deep tracks. They did release this as the last of five singles, but it wasn't played to death like Hard to Handle, etc. Just a phenomenal album front to back.
Top 5 90's band for me. Absolutely love their first three albums. Play anything by them and I'll watch it a few times lol.
Omg need more black Crowes bro!!!!
They have a few I'm sure you guys would dig. Especially " She Talks To Angels "
One of the best bands of all time. Guys, it is definitely worth going down the rabbit hole.
Crowes are the truth.
Great band live too and his singing has not diminished in the years either
Hard to Handle, Jealous Again, Twice as Hard, She Talks to Angels etc
You guys need to see this live❤❤
These guys did a whole show with Jimmy Page (for some reason) years ago. Not really being a fan of either band (for some reason), I still watched the whole thing (for some reason).
The whole show was fire. The reason? Zeppelin's songs are amazing, this guy has a great voice, and the band is very solid.
Can I get a “Remedy”????? Banger!!
The Crowes have a great 70s vibe. You have asked what if bands started using the organ again. Here's the results ❤
The Lasts Southern Rock band!
My poor neighbors. I wore them out with this album when It came out.
A Southern band that pulled inspiration from the music of old…Go on a journey!!
Please do some more Crowes !!! We need your guys take.
Please do more crowes!! She talks to angels; Soul Singin; Thorn in my pride; wiser times!!
