It sounds like you're connecting this turntable to your receiver's phono input, which is overloading it and causing distortion, because the receiver's phono input is designed for a magnetic cartridge, and this turntable has a ceramic cartridge, which has a much higher output level. Try connecting it to the receiver's Aux, CD, or Video input instead, then it won't sound so distorted.
i got one of these to listen to some 70s rock records/vinyls but the needle always stops playing after like 2 mins?? it automatically goes back to its sitting place. any help??

that black screw next to the tonearm is the answer. Turn it to adjust where the tone arm will stop
