I remember Andy scoring a hattrick against Dundee United at Cappielow in November 1978, the third goal he lobbed the ball from about 35 yards over Hamish McAlpine, the United goalkeeper. There was always excitement when Andy had the ball. Great days at Cappielow back then.
I had the pleasure of watching this genius when I was growing up. Yes he scored many against my team, Hearts, but I always thought, lazy but outstanding.
The goal against Aberdeen is filthy!!! The control, the skill & the finish... stop it Andy!! Old Cappielow probably looked better 40 years ago than it does now
The big man Absolutely brilliant, I was a regular at cappielow then the Benny Rooney era until I moved down south, thanks for great memories, hope to come up to a few games next season:-)
andy Ritchie type players would never stay at clubs of the size now. Scottish football was so good back then, I'm biased as an Aberdeen fan, but I can remember Ritchie v Dons Always seemed to score the winner in the last 2 mins of games against us!
