It's a really interesting experiment to kinda see where your pictorial preferences lie and which device is best suited for your style ... (on auto mode that is). For him to choose dark skin tones and reds is also quite smart, since red is the easiest to get "corrected" wrongly. Of course video, app ecosystem and content creation is gonna be something else.
The 2 things that could be added to a future blind test like this, would be "crop" and "manual". I can't say much about the crop, obviously the Pixels does a great job here as well, but other phones will probably either score a few point more or lose a few points. The other category being "manual" which would let the Sony shiny a little more . But I agree, a great test with a fantastic set of data.
Loved the vid bro! Especially the mention of the cinematic made by James. I think he is the first creator who created a real "pro looking video" using a smartphone
Pixel phones take lovely images, I own a DSLR but some of my favourite advert images are from my Pixel 6. Also Googles editing software is very good. Who one in video - my friend said iPhone won.
Voters is viewing this on different display panels. One can get world class OLED, color calibrated, and even brightness, etc. Pixel 7 Pro uses sRGB instead of P3 Color, which even Apple moved away from that (when they are late to things time to time). If everyone had the same display panel, it would be a different story. For example, my iPhone 13 Pro has a incredible OLED display, but also some people doesn’t have the luxury of having a display that can view all the colors of the vote. I’d argue that this was great but it (I will say again) will be a different story if the displays people are viewing from are the same. I also wish that MKBHD’s team did a BTS video. I’d like to see how they did this with 21 million votes! Keep up the great content, I watched the 14 Pro vs the 6s video many times this week. It was incredible, and really changed my opinions. I also want to see you react to what is happening to iPhone camera with its HDR Marques has posted a couple of days ago. Great video, TY for sharing!
Yes do agree! Being able to standardise this somewhat impossible though maybe it could be done with live tests haha. Thanks for watching glad you’re enjoying the channel!! 🙌🏻
Smartphones have small sensors, with the best ones right now being comparable to those silver colored compact digicams from the early 2000s. It's all about the correction and enhancement of the images by software and Google has the best one.
13:30 I shoot underexposed most of the time at night to preserve details in highlights because my camera captures more details and data in darkest parts of the image than brigther ones
4:25 - it does. I used to lean towards Pixel photos when i used them. However i now lean towards Samsung photos (S22/S23 Ultra) and i own an S23 Ultra. Pixel and iPhone photos now look incredibly fake and saturated to me
Hey Tom, i'm interested on buying a new phone, and i'm mainly focusing on Photography, wich phone would u recommend me? S22 Ultra, Pixel 7 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro??
All very solid options to be honest! Don’t think you’d be disappointed with any. Probably depending on just camera would be wrong, since the cameras are all excellent maybe choose based on OS preference?
@@ItsTomRich well i love IOS OS even they're keyboard amaze me when i need to type anything, but Android it's more reliable for me since i use the phone to video calls and multitask while i'm on it and IOS doesn't allow the PIP (only on Facetime)... So i might go for Android on this one, although i'm on dought between S22 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro, i love to take pictures of my daughter and i live in front of the beach so... Sea pictures all the time too
@@joaoribeiro8793 s22 ultra user here.. Go for S22 ultra it's not going to disappoint, also the notchless display felt like a big upgrade for me because I upgraded to s22 ultra from iPhone 11
600.000+ voters, but it is a random, weak or strong tendency or even highly evident. They need to do it differently to prove that and this is how to do it: 200.000 voters is more than enough to do the ranking. Therefore, the 400.000 other voters should be presented with the same three categories, but with other human subjects placed in different environments.
Iphone camera is not as good as you are leading yourself to believe especially compared to pixel phones. Might be that apple reality distortion field a lot of ppl talk about
Now I'm curious with what's your take on smartphone camera with lens co-branding. Xiaomi with Leica, OnePlus with Hasselblad, and Vivo with Zeiss. Your perspective as a photographer who might use the actual lens on an actual pro camera will be interesting.
Really different style of video this one guys! Hope you guys enjoy 🙏🏻
He mentioned you in his new video. 😁
@@CamcorderHomeVideos I know, it was so cool 😁
Yo guys really do alot in collecting all this photos 🙂and selecting the best from all those . I REALLY appreciate and THANK YOU guys 💚🙂👍

I too personally don't like portrait photos but the s22 & pixel 7p were good. Great video tho
Thanks man :)

Yes agreed, plus comparisons between the ultra wide / telephoto lenses could be interesting too!
@9:24 shoting Xperia in Auto/Basic mode is like eating a soup with a knife. Hard to do, best to use a spoon (manual mode).
Got this recommended in my feed, the video didn't disappoint, great work!
Yay super glad to hear that! 🙌🏻
That's why I rock pixels
They are beasts

With the Sony Xperia, you have to tweak the manual settings to get a good result.

Whatever makes you sleep at night lmaoooo
So the iPhone didn't dominate any categories BUT it was consistent across the board.
Sounds about right.

Really enjoying your content. Great Stuff.
Well pixel 7 is that overall winner 🏆 like the smartphone of the year
You should review one of those
I actually found you from that video!
oOoOO I would love a 'video camera' test *heads to MKBHD page to request*

The vivo scored high on both my 2022 and 2023 results
Can’t wait for this years video!
