Mr Christie's comments are all well and good, but I'd rather listen to Mozart and Patricia's singing. (She always sports an interesting hair-style,too.)
Wow. I'd been under the impression that the D Minor Requiem Mass was the only unfinished mass by Mozart. I had to check wikipedia just to be sure, simply because I hadn't heard of ANOTHER unfinished, important work. That we miss out on both is tragedy. It is actually meta-solemn, as well.
What you hear in this video is the rehersal... not the recording of "the version availble" can you -really- not hear the difference, let alone figure it out simply by -wathching- the video?
I agree 100%. Music is embellished by repeats, speech is not. Whence the great musicians, even the most vocal and mediatic like Karajan, never mixing music with speech. Such mix even becomes a *crime* IMO when speech is over the Christe solo (2:11-3:45), a summit of music beauty ever (a reuse in k427 of an exercice Wolfgang had written before their marriage to train and outline Constanze's voice). The rehearsals great. Too bad the warner classic recording of William Christie and Patricia Petibon - Mozart: "Mass in C Minor" isn't anywhere near as good imo. Different mic placing, mixing, spirit, who knows. But feel free to compare!
OMG Bill Chrisite speaking English! :-) Have only ever hear him speaking in fluent French... he sounds really different if that makes sense in English :-P I mean his voice seems lighter and more relaxed in his mother tongue....not that his French is not flawless....am in awe of him. France and the US will have lost a real talent when he goes......
Obviously you're not familair with other renditions. Must had heard over 2 dozen various recordings of Mass in C over a thousand times, especially Kyrie. What I'm smoking is probably beyond your best dreams and worst nightmares. by the way, did you notice I said "IMO", in my opinion above?
Loved this from many years ago.. Patricia Petibon is sublime💥
Beautill, thank you
simply awesome
Una versión fresca.. Magnífica 💖
Queen of Mozart
will hear your passion..
I LOVE this mass!
Semplicemente grazie!
Ravissant ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lynne Dawson ❤️

I think im in love

Then you look at the recording not the video about the recording!
Better an incomplete Mass rather than a complete mess!
Why the strange comment? The work was greatly influenced by Handel and Bach.

There's nothing like a bit of Mozart......
Patricia get it, be happy
👍👍👍👏👏👏
I liked this video until they started talking over it.

Sounds very sensual

William Christie absolute hearing of Mozart? What is time
..she reminds me of Amelie ..
I also like the "less than young" soprano too :)
I am a classical noob. But for me these are the first steps of the requiem.
Quelle age elle a dans ce video?
Good...but why does she repeats "Christe" at the leap just before her trill?

Innocent soprano :-) and sure she seems to be "innocent".

Well Mlle P, you c a n ' t sing with your hands. This music in the Kyrie is for a Jugendlich dramatisch/spinto voice
The solo soprano uses too much vibrato, and doesnt give the pure and divine feeling as Gardiner's version.
