I first bought a Beeman R1 back in the 1980's and unfortunately my home was broken into and all my guns were stolen ( including my beloved UZI 9mm ). After watching your review and 40 years latter I will order the latest Beeman R9 and get back into Airguns again.

Hi all I really like the old springers, nobody has done a proper review on the RWS/Diana 350 magnum premium. I enjoy watching your thorough reviews on air rifles and would appreciate , if you have the means, a 350 review. Thanks for all your hard work and diligence in the videos!
I agree 100% with you. I can't find a single fault with the R9. I have the HW95 version in all three calibers. My favorite targets are one-inch lollipops set out to 60 yards. I can bust 'em easily with my HW95s. It is a joy owning such fine air rifles. Your review is excellent--concise and informative.
There is ONE negative that many people miss on this fine rifle. The open sights, particularly the rear, are very low. With the comb of the stock being very high, I needed to take a very unorthodox and unnatural hold in order to line it up and fire it. I finally gave in and bought a scope. I'm not much of a scope guy, but there you are. Has anyone else noticed this?
@@AirgunDetectives I roll a 98 in .22.........Been shooting the crap out of it for almost a year now. Great gun. The adjustability was the kicker for me. I have good shoulders so I don't mind the weighted barrel shroud. Lots of invasive birds have been coyote/Fox food...

@@cornfields-crosshairs4182 I had Jim at Vortek put a custom spring together for me. It shoots a .25 between 600-650 depending on the weight of pellet. Extremely accurate. That added about 100 fps. Glass etched mildot with a lit center dot. Has held zero since day one. Hard to find. I have seen them on ebay for $75.00. Really amazing scope for the price. Nsirius is the brand.
Love the R9, and it has a Lifetime warranty. I use a Williams Peep FP-AG TK Rear sight. this is a good Rear sight for this gun that will increase the Sight Radius by a Substantial Length, for me this Greatly improves the sights and sight picture of this gun. Accuracy with this Peep sight at 40 yards is very close to shooting with a scope. Love my Hw77K Gen. 2 stock.

how dose the .177 accuracy compare to the .22? i have a .22 and it is great. bought the combo pack. The first thing i did was throw the scope away. thank you.
It's "Rek-EE-ord", like "am-bee-dex-TREE-us. ;-) It's not necessary to remove the sights since they aren't really visible in the scope. Are those see-through covers you have over the ends of your scope there when you're shooting your chrony shots? My R9 in .177 caliber chronies out to about 940 fps on average with 7.5-8 grain pellets. It turns sparrow-to-starling sized bird pests into vaporized puffs of feathers, I've heard.
It's quiet for a rifle but a little louder than the HW45. If you decide you want a R9 call my buddy Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles, he can order one at the best price and then he'll do a "Full-tune" on it for FREE! Tell him I sent you and he'll take care of you😉👍
Hi Matt, I like the spring models myself if they are properly tuned and lubed. You have options to change out an upgrade those easily and relatively inexpensive. Look at the Vortek kits. I have had a few gas rams fail with no warnings, that's the downside. But, I do have quite a few models with gas rams and I like them as well. I prefer spring piston models if I had to only choose one. The R9 and the HW's are the top Breakbarrels made. Once you shoot these it is very difficult to shoot the others. Instead of purchasing some of the lower level rifles, hold off, save a few extra $ and purchase an Beeman R9. It will be worth the wait I guarantee it. This rifles are simply amazing. My buddy Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles can get you the R9 or any of the HW's and he included a full-tune with the price. By far the best deal out there. Tell him I sent you and he'll totally take care of you.😉👍
Awesome review man! Just had to ask, what scope is that in the video? The whole setup you have is wicked, and something I definitely want to have displayed somewhere in my home!
Well love you're videos. But I can't make up my mind on which rifle to get. The Beeman r9 the stealth amo3 or the sig asp20. They all have there pluses. The 95 is accurate no bipods and trigger The Diana trigger the sig wedge lock ease of cocking more power. I will be hunting small game walking through the woods. Which would you prefer for my requirements. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Hi Rod...if I could only pick one breakbarrel for hunting, plinking, and target practice, it would have to be the Sid ASP20 in .22 caliber. Although, there are no open sights, you'll have to use a scope. The Sig has plenty of power, easy to cock, not pellet picky, quiet, really nice trigger, accurate and really well built. Look for a sale. Thanks for watching. Keep me posted on what you ultimately purchase and how you like the performance. 👍😉
What would nice is you could run to Walmart and grab some crosman pellets to use as a comparison of a pellet any common guy can run in and buy everyday. It would be nice to see what it can do with some cphp,s as a baseline. Vs what you want to use next or favorite. That's any review.
Loving your reviews mate. Super professional and totally informative. Because of your reviews I decided to buy a sniper 125 Hatsan .22 as my first rifle. Are you planing on doing a Benjamin Trail XL review series? (i.e .177, .22, .25). I'm eyeing one of these up as my second.
Welcome Richard. Yes, I have a Benjamin Trail XL in .177 I will review that in the future. I appreciate you watching and thank you for the great feedback 👍
hello sir detective, great video as always, i would like to know how you covered the aiming screws, and why not beep this model, here in portugal and a WEIHRAUCH HW95 LUXUS hugs.
They are a small plastic hole plug. I found them at Lowes. I am sure most hardware stores have them. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comments!
if you were to hunt squirrels and birds which break barrel or underlever would you buy without worrying about the price i know we are all different but i am looking for the all around break barrel or underlever i was looking at the R9 or the walther lgv unerlever thanks
Hi Robert, if you want a good all around rifle, the R9 in .22 cal is tough to beat. Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles will also include a full tune at no additional cost. Tell him Airgun Detectives sent you and he'll give you the Cadillac service. Happy New Year 👍
Love your channel but tell the lady in the Porsche to please keep her finger off the trigger until she's ready to shoot. BTW, great looking Porsche. Love the clean classic lines in basic black.
They don't losen at all. I always add a little blue locktite to the stock screws but in this case I didn't need too. I checked them several times and they never loosened up. Just part of that build quality.👍
The R9 has less power than the Sig. The R9 is also a spring piston where the Sig has a gas piston. This is a lighter gun. This is fantastic for paper targets and plinking. That is why I have both the Sig and the R9, they are both 5 star guns. Thanks for watching!
R9/HW95 is a far superior gun. The ASP20 is impressive for what it is BUT it is no where near the level of precision of the R9.. The ASP20 is pretty much a 20ftlb gun (the 20 in ASP20) we have tested preproduction versions for SIG close to the final versions. The Sig can shoot, and it will put out 20 to 22ftlbs and do so without being so hold sensitive that new to piston gun shooters won't be able to enjoy it. The trigger on the ASP is ok but leaves a lot of be desired and the Rekord trigger is as good as it gets in springers (it's truly a match trigger) and that in its self is a huge part of this gun, then you factor in extreme tolerances, a world class barrel, 1.5 to 3 fps standard deviation (after break in).. The list goes on and on (i can just say it's designed and manufactured in Germany... That tells you it's of the highest quality and exacting tolerances ) The R9 with its pellet of choice is consistently capable of .5 to .75 inch 10 shot groups at 50y.. You talking close to high end PCP accuracy(this is out to 50y... The PCP guns are going to quickly out shoot it as the distance increases) and the Sig will never be capable of 10 shot 50y groups that are sub .75 consistently... The Sig will print 10 shot 50y groups that are in the 1.5 inch range with its preferred diet....again not taking anything away from Sig they built a solid gun for their first attempt at a high performance Springer (gas spring) and came with some solid innovation and did a pretty good job... The HW95/R9 is a 400 dollar gun, the Beech wood stocked ASP20 is 429 and the synthetic is 350... If the Sig was 300 the R9 is way more then 25% more gun for 25% more money. If the wood stocked version of the Sig (i can say 100% in the units we tested the Wood versions shoot better and was less hold sensitive. The gun benefits greatly from the wood stock) was 200 bucks then i would say well maybe the Sig is more gun for the money and that's still a maybe so that tells you just how much more gun the R9 is. If i had 500 bucks I could buy the R9 and a Hawke 3-9x40 or I could buy the wood version of the Sig for 200 and the Hawke 3-9x40 for 100 leaving me 200 left over.... I believe I would still go R9 and that would be buying the ASP20 wood version at less then half price and retail for the R9... What is your interest in the Sig? Is it the 20 -22ftlbs? Over the 17 to 18ftlbs of the R9? The more tactical looks of the sig vs more traditional R9? If it's power i can assure you that 100% of the time a 17ftlb gun that places the projectile exactly where you want it will put preform a 25ftlb gun that will place the pellet within 1.5 inches of where you want it... At 50y with a ME of 18ftlbs with JSB18.13z that will be about 10.5ftlbs on target and i can consistently put that lead within a .5 inch area that is far more effective then 25ftlbs ME with 18.13s that is 12.5ftlbs on target that will consistently be within 1.25 inch area.. Remember that couple extra ftlbs of ME is nearly nothing at 50y. The R9 will do 18ftlbs with 18.13s and the ASP20 about 21 with 18.13s so 3ftlbs more ME... At 50y that 3ftlbs more energy at the muzzle is only 1ftlb more at the target.
I can simply tell you...the grouping is the same. I had to play with the distance of the muzzle break on the barrel to achieve the identical grouping as without the muzzle brake. I shot numerous shots with and without. Where you place the brake does make a minor difference in grouping. I spent hours playing with it.
Hi for the muzzlebreak after removing the front sight did you have to file the grooves out? Also where can one purchase the muzzlebreak. I have an HW30s which is an R7 but wanted to know if your muzzlebreak will work. Thank you.
@@scootertrash911 wow 90 yards no kidding. My back yard range is only 50 yards but she will take down small plastic dinosaurs and little army men at that range.

how dose the .177 accuracy compare to the .22? i have a .22 and it is great. bought the combo pack.
I'm kinda interested in the gamo swarm 10x gen 2 in 22 cal, gamos latest break barrel
The fpe at 40yds would be interesting to see
At 40 yards it still has plenty.
JC compared to my HW 45 ( yes 👍🏻 got one ) how does the sound compare ? Thanks 😎👍🏻
It's quiet for a rifle but a little louder than the HW45. If you decide you want a R9 call my buddy Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles, he can order one at the best price and then he'll do a "Full-tune" on it for FREE! Tell him I sent you and he'll take care of you😉👍
Nice shooting!
Hey Leroy...Hope all is well and thanks again for watching!
Awesome gun awesome shooting!!!!
As always..Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comments!
Great review, love the gun, do you think spring is a better choice than gas piston in break barrel?,
Hi Matt,
I like the spring models myself if they are properly tuned and lubed. Tell him I sent you and he'll totally take care of you.😉👍
Nice shooting once again👍👍👍Speaking of weihrauch/beeman you did the TX200 and Walther LGU when do you put the weihrauch HW97 to the test?
Where’d you get the screws to plug the rear sight?
Very impressive gun great review keep up the great work
As always...Thank you for watching and i appreciate your comments!
was that scope the combo pack? or did you put a different scope on it. thank you for your time.
That was an aftermarket scope. The R9 has a minor recoil and most scopes will do well on this rifle. 👍
Awesome review man! Just had to ask, what scope is that in the video? The whole setup you have is wicked, and something I definitely want to have displayed somewhere in my home!
That is an off brand, "Nsirus" I found on Ebay. It has a glass etched lit redicle. It has been holding up quite well on the R9.
What a beautiful gun and super accurate. Nice review,I have the HW50 and love it..Where did you find a muzzle brake for the R9? Looks awesome..
Thanks for watching you can check on line and search for Apex muzzle weight.
@@AirgunDetectives Thank you, have one on order ...
Is the safety ambidextrous?
Hey thanks for the reply. I was leaning that way. I will let you know. Will be getting the Sig soon.
What is the scope on this R9 ?
If you had to choose R9 or HW98 , what would you pick ? Ty great shooter 😎👍
Same rifle. The 98 just has a cooler stock and a heavy barrel shroud. 👍🏻😉
@@AirgunDetectives awh I know be a draw lol.. what was the scope you used ?
great video. how does it compare to a Weihrauch HW90 or HW95?
What would nice is you could run to Walmart and grab some crosman pellets to use as a comparison of a pellet any common guy can run in and buy everyday. It would be nice to see what it can do with some cphp,s as a baseline. Vs what you want to use next or favorite. That's any review.
Where did you get the muzzle break and what the make and model of the break?
Those are called, "Apex Muzzle Weights" and unfortunately they are no longer manufactured. I had it for several years.
Please, what's the European version of this rifle, HW 95 "LUXUS" or the HW 95 "Deluxe"? Thanks in advance
just got my hw80 in today looks like they set the cross hairs at 20 yards how many yard would you have set it at?
20-25 yards is a good distance 👌
thank you
Can u add silencer for beeman r9?
Would you recommend it in .177 or .22 ??
Which Weihrauch rifle is this equivalent to?
if you were to hunt squirrels and birds which break barrel or underlever would you buy without worrying about the price i know we are all different but i am looking for the all around break barrel or underlever i was looking at the R9 or the walther lgv unerlever thanks
Hi Robert, if you want a good all around rifle, the R9 in .22 cal is tough to beat. Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles will also include a full tune at no additional cost. Tell him Airgun Detectives sent you and he'll give you the Cadillac service. Happy New Year 👍
What scope mount are you using?
That is a basic one-piece 11mm dovetail, high-rise with 1" rings. Very inexpensive on ebay.
Love your channel but tell the lady in the Porsche to please keep her finger off the trigger until she's ready to shoot. BTW, great looking Porsche. Love the clean classic lines in basic black.
You know...I tell her that all the time but she just doesn't listen!!! Thanks for watching!
After how man shots will u have to tighten the stock screws do u think and which screws will u need to tighten
They don't losen at all. I always add a little blue locktite to the stock screws but in this case I didn't need too. I checked them several times and they never loosened up. Just part of that build quality.👍
How does this compare to the sig asp20?
That tells you it's of the highest quality and exacting tolerances )
The R9 with its pellet of choice is consistently capable of .5 to .75 inch 10 shot groups at 50y..
Would it be possible for u to shoot a group with out the muzzle brake so we can the difference
I can simply tell you...the grouping is the same. I had to play with the distance of the muzzle break on the barrel to achieve the identical grouping as without the muzzle brake. I shot numerous shots with and without. Where you place the brake does make a minor difference in grouping. I spent hours playing with it.
What if you guys make a video about homemade PCP rifles...it will be a good one... because your knowledge...
The Beeman Precision guns are made by Weihrauch and imported by Air Venturi.
Hi for the muzzlebreak after removing the front sight did you have to file the grooves out? Also where can one purchase the muzzlebreak. I have an HW30s which is an R7 but wanted to know if your muzzlebreak will work. Thank you.
This is where I purchased it but I don't think he carries them anymore. www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/1205004/692734.htm
@@AirgunDetectives Thank you for your replied. Yup I checked before and they don't carry them anymore.
I have a Underlever .177
where did you get the muzzle brake from?
its called "apex muzzle weight", although I don't know much else about it.
Granny needs to get her finger off that damn trigger lol she’s about to have a sun roof
I have the r9 in .177 I bought in 1995 and it was almost 400.00 even back then
Great investment 👌
I have a .177 also, hitting small medicine bottles no problem at 90 yards.
@@scootertrash911 wow 90 yards no kidding. My back yard range is only 50 yards but she will take down small plastic dinosaurs and little army men at that range.
Love your videos! does your rifle has been tuned? is the twang to loud?
Right out of the box...no annoying twang. However, I did do a tune on this one and I added the muzzle break. Very, very smooth rifle!! Thank for watching!
@@AirgunDetectives what sort of tune did you perform on this R9?
@@cornfields-crosshairs4182 He added the muzzle break. it's that thing on the end of the barrel, that looks like a sillencer
@@greekveteran2715 if you read his comment again it says that he tuned the gun AND added the muzzle break. Even though I do understand what a muzzle brake is and where it's located I appreciate the confirmation.
@@cornfields-crosshairs4182 My bad then, sorry mate
Let me start of the negatives.. okay I can’t think of one😅👌🏽
I know the video is a couple of years old... but FYI, the click on the "I" in the corner is not working...
Looks like a real good springer. Great review as always ... would like to purchase one of your side mounted bipods can you send me a link please.. Many thanks 👍👍👍

Would this take a fox??How far?
Just think how it would shoot if you slapped a tune kit in it.
