Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing how you made it. But 5 dollars? How did you count that? The wood alone is already more expensive (only you consider it scrap wood, left-overs from other projects) and I wonder if it's even possible to buy this kind of clock mechanism for less than 5 dollars.
