    Some people might mistake it for the snazziest Spyderco Byrd ever made. The blade ramp is odd, and I’ve only seen that on Bark River fixed blade knives. Having said that, you and your fans know what it is, and it’s pretty cool.

    I picked up their 702 and it’s very stout! It’s price makes it easier to EDC, compared to the other 400+ integrals. Thanks for the review. It look like a very nice pickup.

    Thanks for the heads up! I picked up a burple. The ano job is the best I have seen, it has a firey opalescence with the red/pink fleck in the finish. The CF inlays are seamless. My first WE is quite impressive.

    I just bought 94/150 in the Blurple finish at We Be Knives at Pier 39 in San Francisco, they had both colors but I just couldn't take my eyes off the WE, I ended up picking it up instead of the Rike 1508 that I went to the store for

    I saw your IG post initially. I am not a Chinese made knife fan. But, I was very impressed with the 811B. They were obviously priced at a bargain IMO, so I ordered one. While looking, I saw they were sold out at a couple locations. Looking forward to getting it. Great review!

      Paul Magor I hope you like it! It's an amazing exercise in manufacturing for WE!

  • @slidetek
    @slidetek 6 лет назад +9

    Definitely the coolest finish I've seen on a WE knife, although the overall styling doesn't quite do it for me. And that lockbar insert DLC coating is a misstep IMHO. Why not treat it the same as the pivot cutout? That was one of the things I _loved_ on my 702 was the matched milling and subtle finish on the cutouts. WE has always been the Infiniti to Reate's Lexus so it's interesting to see them flirting with higher end production for house designs. Then again, they were asking (and getting) $300 for everything they made not 3 years ago. With companies like Holt doing what they do for $550ish, is the ceiling for Chinese production knives $500? Great time for knife enthusiasts anyway! Look forward to your final diagnosis.

    • @DoctorFrunkey
      @DoctorFrunkey  6 лет назад +2

      slidetek totally right. Was wondering the same thing about the lockbar insert. But perhaps it is a D2 insert and now it's DLC coated and even better. There must be a reason.

    • @DoctorFrunkey

    Have a similar knife (the new 819A); just wondering if you noticed that the ceramic detent ball has a deep groove along its contact area. It's easily visible with a magnifying glass. Could be it's just on mine and as such a manufacturing defect.

    Thoughts on the We Drakon 819?
    Though also integral, looks smaller, lighter, with a thinner blade/very fine edge. The fancy milled scale pattern looks awesome too, though I imagine that it might add unwanted friction against the pocket clip....
    Hope your day is going well!

  • @HikikomoriZone

    It definitely shows production prowess and ability, but the design doesn't do it for me, personally. And the WE logo pivot is sort of a detractor from all their knives in my eyes.

    Funny that ZT things that a 0450FCZDP is worth the same as an M390 Integral. The 811 doesn't seems to be available here in Europe, which is weird, or maybe just hasn't arrived yet? Given how much marketing they do with the Bladestock Show and the EU Distributor basically around the corner from me.

    Looks absolutely incredible. Thank you! (Or perhaps not thank you - if my wallet loses today's argument with me...)
    What's the "sliciness" compared to the 702? I see that they have the same blade thickness, but this grind looks like it might perform better. Is that true?
    I have the 702 and really like it, but must sometimes concede that it's not the best cutting certain types of things with that blade thickness and grind.
    Would you consider making a comparison video with the two?

    I'm not a fan of most we knives... But they do have some nice models. I won't be buying anymore though. This knife looks nice though. I've had varying issues with some of there knives. They aren't a terrible knife company but I don't have any more interest in them at all.
    Id much rather have any reate over we knives. Way better products.
    Also they say USA grade titanium but it is not as it anos way differently. So false advertising.

  • @Rivy_ID
    @Rivy_ID 6 лет назад +1

    With all the effort put into this knife, I can’t believe they didn’t put a relief cut on the lock bar for your thumb. Huge oversight IMO, and actually going to be a deal break for me.

      How so exactly?

    • @kensworld81
      @kensworld81 6 лет назад +1

      just a few dollars more you could buy Chris Reeve's, Hinderer etc lifetime guarantee for your knife. Also American. This at $300 would just make more sense I think for WE and the consumer.

    • @TrilobiteTerror
      @TrilobiteTerror 6 лет назад +4

      Those are knives are very different than though (and not just because they're made in the US). Integrals are always more expensive and $300 is only $50 more than a lot of their other popular regular knives (or the same price as a WE 702 which is an integral but much more plain). For $348 WE was (they're sold out everywhere now) offering a limited edition large integral with a pretty nice, unique finish on the titanium, hand finished satin blade, and polished carbon fiber inlays.

    • @kensworld81
      @kensworld81 6 лет назад

      by all means go ahead I won't stop ya, just doesn't make sense for me.
