    I am a new caregiver for a patient who is completely bed ridden and this coming Monday will be my first time ever having to change adult diapers. I will watch this video over and over all weekend. I want to do it correctly and not hurt my patient. I pray I learn quickly.

    I am helping take care of my 97 year-old mother in-law. We've had two home health care nurse come by the house to show us how to change the diaper. Because my MIL is a little bit heavy, both techniques demonstrated looked difficult. Watching this video finally made everything clear and less complicted. As the middle-aged woman, I can do the cleaning and changing the diaper while my husband or brother in-law hold their mother while she's on her side. Thank you so for the video.

    I was called on to help a friend who's mother needed to be changed..my friend was in wheelchair and cld not do it and family didn't care...when I rolled her to her side after I had unfastened the one side the diaper had been on her so long and she had been laying in that position so long she had a huge open sore full of pus...I lost it!! I cld not believe a family wld leave their mother in this condition. I know it's not easy doing this kind of caregivers but ur parent is not gng to be around much longer do the best u can for them. Don't regret things after it's too late.

    Thank you so soooo much this video, it's so helpful. My 80year old mom has been diagnosed with Pancreas tumor recently. Her health is deteriorating each day (if not hours) I'm coming from the shop now to buy the Napkins & it's going to be my first time doing this. It is a very nice video. Straight to the point. In real life experience, where someone could went between a diaper changing moment, it is more proper to have the clean diaper stretched out first , and bring very to the elderly, so that as you remove the old one ,you slide the new one.

    this was a a decent video, however most of my residents , are stroke victims very large and have limited or next to no mobility. They are not able to "help" roll over , bend their knees, and normally a 1 person procedure.. i have yet to find a video that helps me or shows me how to do this.

      I work in a nursing home in memory care and a lot of them have very limited to no mobility. It’s almost like they are frozen and it’s nothing but dead body weight. It’s definitely harder to change the elders then they made it look in the video. Don’t let me get started with getting them dressed it’s definitely a workout, and your back will be on fire when your done. You gotta put your back into it. Don’t get me wrong you have to be as gentle as you can, but on the other hand you have to put some push behind it.😭 but I love my job and the elders are so sweet.

      We had to dive right in. Nurses expected us to know everything on day one, which is stupid, but yeah. You just gotta go with the rest of the nurses, see how they are doing it and then you mimic their behavior even if what they are doing is incorrect (otherwise you will have difficult times, sadly). You practice, and practice. We never had simulation training, we practiced on real patients at the teaching hospital. In any case, I try to do the way I am supposed to (changing gloves in-between, using disinfectants, etc.), I do not give a fuck if my coworkers do not like it. I do it for the patients.

      "Maria J" In such a case it seems that more than one nurse or aide or caretaker has to tend to the patient. Maybe it is unavoidable that two or more male orderlies or male nurses have to hold or restrain the patient if he or she is disorderly or out of control for some reason such as psychotic episodes, seizures etc. It seems that the people or place that hires you should provide the information and assistance you need.

    Thank you! It's been a while but I remembered after. Roll the patient on his or her right side, tuck it in and roll the patient back towards me. Then the rest is common sense

    Not a very helpful video especially if you are trying to do this by yourself. How do you take the tape tabs off the diapers? They wont' come off. Which direction do you face the diaper?

    I think it's not complete and right way of changing the dipper...you need to use of betadin or powder if needed.The way of cleaning perineal area also not right...

      For which one of the two roles? Do you want to be the one wearing the diapers or the one putting the diaper on the other person, in other words?

  • @escoba1971
    @escoba1971 5 лет назад +4

    I would always have a small trash bag near the bed to dispose of the soiled diaper...and then after changing the client...and dressing the up. I would take the bag with the soil diaper and throw it out in the outside trash cans..,..so any foul odor would not stay in the room.

    • @et4822
      @et4822 4 года назад

      We do that too. The soiled diaper, blue sheet if any, wet wipes and gloves all go into the trash bag when the job is finished, and tied so no foul smell escapes. This is then disposed off in the bin outside, which is away from the ward. After that, it's hand hygiene (wash hands with soap)

      @Jason Genova nope. BUT I have the sensitivity and know older people some of them need to wear them! Hope you don't need to wear one of them one day, and THEN you will remember about the stupidity that you just commented 😉😘
