The internet decorators ain’t going to like this video Wally. They love to bash Dulux and pretend that a paint no one has heard of is the best ya fighter
It was precisely painted with oil based so went with same stuff but using delux trade eggshell self undercoating tough and durable oil based can't use water based over oil cus it just won't stick or peel bk
I'm about to paint some kitchen cupboards. They are covered with a fake wood finishes like a veneer which is painted. Probably MDF underneath that. I've sanded the veneer slightly to give it a rough texture. It's the finishing coat will be a Dulux trade diamond satinwood. We don't want the previous color to come through so, would you suggest this as a primer?
I rubbed all my woodwork down about 2 years ago, went over all the knots with two coats of knotting two coats quick dry primer two quick dry undercoat and two quick dry gloss and all the knots under the paint have turned brown where the knots are any ideas, thanks
Johnstone AQUA undercoat top dries quick, sticks well and covers great plus appearance of an oil based undercoat any further top coats just slides on. It be £20 odd a 5l tin cheaper than Dulux
Honestly does anyone know what’s going on if there’s a shortage of wood primer cos it’s all primer undercoat 2in 1 personally I’m set against mixing 2 vastly different paints that do vastly different tasks in same can Your supposed to apply primer coats and undercoats separately they serve different purposes It looks online that’s all there is mostly 2in1 type primer undercoat it’s looking like a massive shortage of just wood primer but with zero news online to explain why a lack of wood primer
Isn't it that Dulux Acrylic is 100% acrylic, where as cheaper brand alternatives have less and pack it out with other stuff.. hence they don't cover and perform as well.
I've just started using the bdec qd satin and gloss, its amazing gear. Nice finish and really quick drying for when u need to pop a few coats on in a short space of time
@@wallingtonfilmingthere a small British firm i highly recommend you try bedec, you can get the paint in your local toolstation/brewers, brilliant paint with a high flex. about same as dulux price wise. when in comes to the 3x well know firms Dulux wins on wood.
Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat current price £13 2.5L & £26 5L. Dulux quick dry wood primer undercoat current price £38 2.5L & £55 5L. I find Leyland better value and a better paint than Dulux.
@@demonkey123 on a separate note, I'm actually Dulux satinwood and it's so difficult to paint with. I'm on the hunt for something else now as I'm not doing 10 doors x 2 coats with this stuff
Think this bloke us bring paid by dulux... Didnt he do one recently where he did a visit to a dulux Dec centre to buy a roller sleeve? Bit blatant really
Just not economical , mite be good gear no doubt , still got to two coat everything so no point unless specified and they will spec oil anyway never seen any on sites just to expensive they all go for macphersons armstead just purely down to cost and they do the job adequately
Given the choice of the cheaper alternatives eg armstead leyland Macphersons I would go for macs any day , leyland is like piss armstead not to bad Johnstone’s not bad But prefer macs just needs a good knock up and flats out well Each to there own I suppose never let me down
No complaints from me decent stuff , very thick needs the meat taking out Been using for 5/6 years at a guess so probably changed in quality Changed from armstead to this

I love this stuff my skirting bord had oil based on it and used 1 coat of this to help the waterr based eggshell stick better good stuff

In Canada we have an attachment handle you can buy for your tray so you don't have to bend down to move the tray. You can also rest your stick on it.
i got a boat i used this on and it impossible to sand it down at all it too rubbery so what can i do as i got to make it smooth?

One of the only paints they still make that’s still any good. Overpriced when there’s many more out there.
Best acrylic out there :)
Really enjoy the videos mate. Can you do more renovation and product review videos?

Zinszer bin primer is all I use for knots these days
Try a shellac based primer .
Zinnsser BIN as said.
Will this stuff prime old yellow oil based gloss so I can use quick dry satin over the top? Will all acrylic primers do this job?
Lovely jubbly!
Are you finishing those doors with water based gloss or oil based gloss?

I find it very thick so normally give it a quick buzz up with a drill mixer . Good gear though.

Can you review the new deluxe heritage please?
I don't use water based paint, when I mask off the paint peels off, so I stick to oil based thanks
Why do you mask? Should only mask doors if you're spraying.
Unbelievable !
Isn't it that Dulux Acrylic is 100% acrylic, where as cheaper brand alternatives have less and pack it out with other stuff.. hence they don't cover and perform as well.
I switched over to Rustins primer undercoat . I find the Dulux too thick for trim
How much they paying you?
What is that roller name please it look so good 👍
Rota 🕯
Is it as good as Bullseye 1 2 3 Candleman.
Double diamond Matt as a primer on bare timber is the bollocks
Remember it well. But our gaffer won't let us use it any more ☹️
Nothing wrong with it Mark, just too dear mate!
Have you used bedec paints?
Never heard of them mate 🕯🎥☕️🚬
Bedec big in Yorkshire good stuff.

Yes and not bad
Can someone explain to me what ‘orange peel’ effect is?
Is this desirable or is it something your guys ‘dont’ want?
Orange peel is an affect you get from a roller, brushing leaves lines in the paint 🎨 I prefer orange 🍊 peel 🕯☕️🎥🚬
@@wallingtonfilming thanks for the reply 👍
I think this is better than the dulux qd undercoat, as thats at least 6 hours recoat, and 16hrs!! If you youre going to put on qd dulux gloss!!🤪😜🤯
How long did u wait till u done second coat
When the first one was dry 😆
Bins the primer going Fact
Thanks graeme

Yeah this stuff is so good. Wouldn't be paying any extra for the Durex brand.
Not a professional painter, but I’ve used both paints for small projects. Dulux was streets ahead in my opinion. Coverage was brilliant 👍

Cheques in the post
I love that stuff , I can see why you are kissing it 🤣🤣🤣

This is superb but the gloss variant is a nightmare to work with!!

He also gets paid by RUclips and whoever he is painting for. What’s wrong with that?
Its shit, doesn’t rub down, just clogs up sandpaper
You make me laugh. Love Dulux products, find them easy to use as a non professional DIY woman
