I've had this project in mind for several years, now. And when BeaverCraft sent me these knives to try out, I decided it was the perfect time to carve it!
I thought it was real nice of them to send me a package of bandaids too, just in case.
I really enjoy the peace and quiet of carving with hand tools. It's really relaxing!
I've been following the work of a fellow wood carver for many years, now. He lives along the creek back up in the hills. Today me and Pearl decided to pay him a visit. Here's an example of one of his recent carvings...and here's one of his older works. When it comes to building, he's a master of his trade. The beaver was the very first wood carver. And I"ve always admired his work.
"What's in there? It looks like the Beavers used to live in there, anyway. They've been woodcarving a lot longer than I have. There's a ready-made, beaver-carved walking stick, right there. Come on Pearl!"
I really like all the blade profiles of these knives. There is a shape for just about everything that you need.
Carving like a Beaver is a lot of fun!
Pearl enjoys carving like a Beaver, too!
She's doing a pretty good job of it.
I use the wood burner to add details to the fur.
If you're interested in carving like a Beaver, there is a link in the description where you can purchase a fine set of carving tools.
Thanks for watching! I'll see you on the next one!
"Pearl likes carving like a beaver, too" ah, my heart!! How cute!!
You're like the Bob Ross of carving.
Omg he is
I was thinking the same thing was going to post my comment. Until I say yours 😂
omg you're so right
i was just thinking that before i saw the comment
I’ve watched 5 videos and yelled to my wife to come see this guy who is the Bob Ross of carving. Then scrolled down to the comments and the first one I see is your. Hahahahaha
When I was a little girl my favorite part of my weekend was Sunday mornings. Not for the typical kid entertainment but rather Bob Ross. I'd watch him for hours, totally relaxed and enthralled. I'm almost 40 now and watching you gives me that exact same feeling I had when I was younger. Thank you!
My Mom is fully disabled and she's wanted a walking stick for awhile now, her forearm crutches don't support her correctly and canes put too much pressure on her hips. I wish I had your skills to carve a personalized one for her, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Give Pearl love, she always makes me miss my Pebbles; I should say more, I miss her constantly. She too would have crawled right up to that beaver den and searched with me. She was a miniature blue-grey brindle dachshund, she passed a few days before her 21st birthday. Best 21 years I've ever spent.
This si probably the most therapeutic channel on RUclips
😑
Mmm......................
I was thinking the same thing then i saw your coment 😊
Indeed
I love how pearl just gets in your lab and chills while you carve
I would give my left nut for a dog like Pearl. Mine is always on 130%, never settling, always whining, barking, needing...I love him till death but I would love him to be a calmer dog that I could spend time without him wanting constant attention...
@@verlagdashofer5000 Aw, he just loves ya.
@@mariestreeting9145 I agree
Ein hervorragende Arbeit!
Fast schon ein biologisches Lehr mittel. Die maßstabsgerechte Natürlichkeit ist kaum zu übertreffen.
Mike, you are one of the greatest! 👍👏
Thank you very much, Gerhard!
This little dog and the carving living free inside my heart thanks for keeping do it amazing Art's for us
You're very welcome, Rafael! Thank you for your kind words!
I was just sitting around thinking back when I was a kid, going off in the woods and carving arrows and spears, and decided I'd look up some carving videos and I ended up here. Seeing this amazing piece of art and reminiscing of how peaceful it is to do this has got me wanting to start it back up. Keeping my hands busy with art makes life so much better and its truly time well spent. But incredible job on that, gotta be one of if not the best carving ever I love it.
Just by watching you working, I am learning the lesson of patience and being one with the work. Thank you man
This Man's talent is BREATHAKING!
They don’t make em like you anymore sir. Thumbs up
I spent 3 hours out in the woods carving today. Makes my soul happy. Nice stick. Great video. Keep carving my friend.
It really is enjoyable! Thank you, and keep on carving!
Hello. I am a sculptor who is making animal models in Korea.
I sometimes leave comments in your video.
Do you remember?
Today, I'm getting a lot of inspiration from your video!
Yes, I remember you! Thank you very much!
Mr. Mike your attention to detail is second to none. The patients you have is remarkable. Love you work, keep it up !

Look like alive, absolutely amazing work. With every new video I'm more convinced that not only your incredible talent is the reason to look so amazing, but also because you carry the love to nature deep into your heart.
Thank you!
Every time I watch this guy it always makes me think, and my mind wonders if his love, patience and attention to detail, is this what god did with everything on earth, carved it then made it real, so amazing, God Bless us all

So nice to just watch something genuine and wholesome. Very relaxing. Thank you
I'm glad you enjoyed it, James!
Carving with knives and gouges is definitely my favorite way of carving, you did an amazing job and I like how you've kept a bit of the bark at the top, it really looks like the bever's chewing away on a piece of wood
Thank you, Simon! I had a real good time making this stick!
I loved the way you described the beaver as the first wood carver
This video is making me feel the peace and quiet in the nature
Yes I know what you mean. Carving is so much fun. Thanks so very very very much for sharing your beautiful inspirations, walking sticks. I too love the walking sticks 🇨🇱❤️💕🎄

Hello, I am from Brazil, I am a big fan of your work, I am extremely impressed with so much genius with the wooden arts you make, always aiming at the dazzling North American nature !!!! you are the genius of the art of cutting wood !!
Thank you very much!
I love you and Pearl so much, i wanna be just like you when I'm grown
Thank you, Ryan!
Hi ryan do you like dance?
That's so touching the way she "carve" the remaining wood cut with her teeth while you doing the carving (plus the words that you had said) So touching and beautiful it made my cry ;") 8:09 - 8:31
"It is very relaxing" .
Yes it is. Even watching somebody else doing it is relaxing, let alone doing it yourself
Nasceu para isso. Ele olha para a madeira e visualiza a obra pronta. E de forma inacreditável vai dando vida à matéria. Simplesmente parabéns!
Talent supreme, such art work, beautiful.

Sir, can you please make a wooden bone for your doggie, we want to see his reaction
Wow another beautiful piece of art.
Thanks, Charles!
it was quite rude of you to walk into the beavers home and stare at him. and then you had the audacity to steal his walking stick. lol
Another beautiful job. Simple but elegantly portrayed.
Thank you, Karla! I really enjoyed the hand carving of this piece!
Красота , как всегда посмотрел с удовольствием . Привет из России .
Your talent is out of this world.
Those knives are so sharp it looks like you’re carving apples.
One of the best carvings I’ve ever seen
Beautiful....could you do more hand tool carving in future?
I will try to work in some more hand carving projects. Thank you, Al!
This man is a big teacher really I got patient from him.
Those are some REALLY SHARP tools or a FRESH stick. Lol
I admire this man and his work. He lives a very peaceful life with pearl and enjoys his craft. I wish you many years of carving.
Thank you very much, Mike!
You are like Bob Ross of carving! Loved it 👍🏼 and by the way, did you use any of the plasters? 😂😂
Thank you very much! I'm glad that you enjoyed it! I'm happy that I didn't need to use any bandages : )
Sir, you are truly gifted by our Heavenly Father.I admire your fine art and the loving detail that you put into each carving. You are not rushed,I feel admiration, joy and relaxation as I watch you work...I have a couple of questions for you.How long have you been doing your art?Have you always had and enjoyed a simple lifestyle?Thank you so much for sharing your tallent with us.
Mike it was nice to watch you carve without any machine tools to help you achieve what you just did with knives, what a skill!!! It was almost like meditation for me, so relaxing, at a pace that just floated along with lovely little Pearl with you on the journey to explore the Beaver lodge as well as lying on your lap whilst you carve, I`ve missed that little dog since she wasn`t always in your last videos, well, she`s back and carving for herself, sweet. Mike thank you again you and your family are the best, I`m your biggest fan, good weekend to you all.
Hello, my friend John! This was a really fun and special project for me. The design is a simple one, but I've had the idea to make it for a long time, and enjoyed the process a lot. Pearl had a great time sniffing around the beaver's lodge. I took a lot more footage of her than I was able to include in this video. She crawled down inside a badgers hole too, haha! I'm glad the badger wasn't home! I've got to keep a close eye on that pup! Thank you for your kind comment, John, and I hope you have a great week!
What breed is Pearl? She’s a well mannered dog.
Msybe s jack russel
Lake. All. Ways. Beautiful work.
This is how I think whittling should be “layed back and relaxing
One of the first things I ever bought on eBay was a beaver chewed stick from somewhere in the Midwest. Still have it today. Your hand carved one is much more refined!
„When it Comes to building, he‘s a master of his trade.“
Is that a reference to the song „Educated Man“ by Alaska‘s Hobo Jim, or just a funny coinsidence?
Haha! I hadn't heard that song. Just listened to it. It was a coincidence for sure.
Stinnett Sticks
How did you like the song?
By the way, thanks for beeing so awesome and interactive with your viewers
I like it! Your welcome, and thank you for your comment!
Every time you carve one out, it becomes my favorite. Absolutely love this beaver stick. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent with us.
