Glad you're hyped about saltwater. Be careful tho, once the bug bites, it turns into a full blown addiction. The corals are not growing that quickly, they are just simply inflating their tissue due to better environmental conditions, which is awesome! Also, these are beginner corals which are hardy to keep. I think it's a perfect set up for you to get into the hobby. I would highly recommend that you use RODI water and I'm pretty sure that I have seen RO units laying around in your previous videos from rescue's you've done. It is 100% worth the small investment to get one working for you. While you can get by using pond water, it's likely that your Phosphate and Nitrate levels are elevated for a reef environment. While this might not cause issues immediately. It will inevitably lead to the balance of the tank being thrown off allowing nuisance algae to take hold. This can be extremely difficult to impossible to eradicate once it takes hold and it happens quickly. Trying to eradicate the algae is often detrimental to the tank and the corals usually suffer in the process. Don't fall into the mindset that you need all of this fancy equipment and different additives. Good lighting, water movement and a good protein skimmer is all you need, along with small weekly or large monthly water changes. Keep your Alkalinity STABLE (#1 PRIORITY), and your calcium and magnesium in proper range with a good 2 part (ESV B-Ionic, or similar). Try to keep your nitrate and especially phosphate low by harvesting your Cheato weekly from your fuge. It's awesome to see that same excitement we all feel for this hobby in someone new. Best of luck on your reef tank!
Yes. Agreed. And I did use ro water lol. But I said in the video that I used pond water. Well that was just to get the saltwater extremists to start the posting about how I should do it lol. But yea I'm no dummy and did my due diligence on saltwater and I'm ready to move up in size. And just leave it automated . It has a calcium and kh auto Doser to it. And you were correct. We did have a couple of ro units here :) but the more replys and posts help the algorithm :)

I really enjoy watching all your fish sir. I makes me wish I still had my aquariums i had in the past. God bless you sir and your family and keep up the great work. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊😊😊
Salty is looking great. Water from the pond? As long as the parameters are right, besides the livestock and invertebrates will soon let you know if they aren't. It's sad some people think you're still wet behind the ears. Loving how far the OFR has come in 12 months.
I love all the ideas but I really love the huge saltwater tank idea . Some more corals and beautiful Saltwater fish . Some of those cleaner shrimp. You should consult with a Saltwater professional on how to get it up and running . I think you should put some temporary poles in at the end of the pond to lift up the net a little. I had a Macaw. Very sensitive to temperature. Mine got sick and died. She was treated but still passed . They are beautiful. Contact a rescue. Many turned in and need homes .
I noticed those big beautiful elephant ears by the pond at the beginning of the video. Don't forget, you have to dig up those bulbs in the late Fall and put them away for the Winter inside in a paper bag.
use the 5foot tank lying outside for the Mascot Snapping turtle, BTW where is he, You have not covered it in many videos. The last video if am not wrong was when he was transferred to a new tub under the shelf before the BBq, Also waiting eagerly for the shrimp tank to be alive.
Finish the shed so you can store the stuff you need. And also be ruthless and give away/dump that which you do not use. And perhaps finish some of the easier projects so you can mentally tick them of your mental list.... talking from experience :)
I bet y’all get so stress out having to keep up with everything I’m in Texas but dang if I was to live there in Ohio I’ll become y’all first worker I’ll be there everyday to help!
Is Tracey able to be submerged in water? If so with a hoist, (which I know wont be cheap), Tracey could be safely lowered into and out of water.....not sure if able to get her in with the system on low. Great stimulation. 🥰
I would love to see you get a macaw, but depending on the size of it, consider building an aviary for it. It's going to be so much happier in there being able to fly. And you're going to avoid lots of behavioural problems, like excessive screaming and feather plucking. This is coming from a former Parrot expert. (:
should sell the tanks n fishes for a minimal fee or any anount buyer want to give instead of giving it totally free. especially for those that time n effort had been putting into like fixing it up etc. it will help fund the resuces.
I dont know who told you that. But u sound as impatient as i was. But dont kill yourself doing stuff. Knock stuff off your list one at a time and you will get there. Give yourself some credit. Its all beautiful.
Pretty sure YT knows if the channel is playing without anyone watching the screen. They(Google) even monitor mouse gestures (or the lack of any) as part of their engagement measure and reCaptcha service. For the leaking cube tank, I recall on Tanked they used a syringe applicator and liquid bonding agent of some kind and mechanical clamping throughout curing to do butt joints on acrylic panels. I assume the cube is acrylic. I wouldn't trust a silicone re-patch again.
Purge and get rid of stuff, and then get bins to store the stuff you want to keep. Limit some of the projects. Create list of what is most important, less important, simple more complex, see if they can be prioritized and some eliminated.
i see josh is a dragon lover like myself my grandkids think im a nutty nana ,because i love weird things and bands like AC/DC ,just bought a crystal ball that is held up by four dragons .
So my boy likes dragons!! Bad assism! But yea I'm learning corals are pretty resilient. I've had a stoney coral burried under gravel & sand for over 6 months, pistol shrimp uncovered it & now it's back to life. Been working on bleaching tho n seeing what tricks can be done after that. It's inevitable for all coral, so if we can get bleaching curbed we are a step ahead! 🏴☠️🥂🤑🤓👻
Adding all that rock will ruin the flow and lighting, 2 things that coral need to be just right. If you tie both systems to one sump coraline will grow in both tanks. You cant rush a reef tho.
@@ohio-fish-rescue nice! What lights are you going to use? There are alot of good cheap lights out there and some easy modifications you can do to male them even better. You dont need 1lb rock per gallon or even 1/2 just fyi. Rock grows algae, we want to grow corals. Let the corals cover the rocks and be the aquascape with some negative space in there for depth. There is plenty of rock for a 180 in that 100 you have with coraline, id only use that rock, that tank looks nice and stable. Keep the rock wet and use new or no sand. No sand means much less maintenance. I also also wouldnt run the lights longer than 10 hours if that, will help with algae and nutient control
Not to be a downer but using "pond water" in a reef tank is not the way to go, your going to have really bad issues with all sorts of algae, and possibly other issues, reef tanks are much more delicate ecosystems then freshwater tanks. Good luck

You should look into bird rescues. There are a lot of unwanted parrots out there in need of a good home.
Yes, yes, yes! Please consider a rescue! Many people either don't realize how long birds live, or their birds outlive them!
