For the first 8 minutes Derek looks like he's in a hostage video being made to sip overproof white rum neat 😂His tasting notes are "industrial, industrial, rubber, industrial..."
This one still cracks me up!! You get progressively more tipsy and it’s awesome!! Great video! Just a couple of dudes crushing some ovenproof Jamaican rums. Also, full cocktails? Wowza!
It was a pleasure to meet you two last night at the Kon Tiki. I can confirm for everyone that in person, they are exactly like they are in the video - friendly, kind and super nerdy about cocktails! I look forward to more videos (especially the Improved Rum Cocktail from Tropical Standard - it is great)
Hi there! It was great meeting you and your wife! I'm looking forward to making an Improved Rum Cocktail. Actually, I'm looking forward to Derek making me one. Cheers!
Fun one. Love how genuine this is. I’ve said for awhile that the RumBar OP is my fave so I’m not surprised you are both drawn to the WP. I’m about to set these up and reproduce the neat tasting, with RumBar subbed in for the WP. Update: I was also humbled. Only got RumFire correct. W&N was my favorite neat and I thought it was Monymusk 😅
Thanks Jarrod! Its much harder than it would seem, right? I guess RumFire is pretty obvious, but the rest? Its tooooough. Did you just try them neat or also in cocktails?
Only about a quarter into this so far but as a fellow Rum Fire devotee, it sounds like I need to get a bottle of Worthy Park! Also it was really cool seeing both of you at the Kon-Tiki last night. I wasn't able to stick around to say hi, but it was a fun event.
They are completely different rums imo the new WP OP is absolutely worth picking up but do not expect it to be like the 151 forsyths. The cane aspect brings a different profile for sure.
Timely video. Was about to give the "Rum Firewalker" another chance, switching out the Rum Fire for Rum-Bar Overproof. The result of that switch.....I prefer the it with Rum-Bar OP with the Rum-Bar's emphasis on over-ripe bananas/fruits compared to the more "industrial" flavors of the Rum Fire. I'm still playing with the recipe. Plan on cutting back on the Campari a bit, adding a touch of 2:1 Demerara syrup. Lots of potential here for Jamaican OP rum and Campari fans! Looking forward to experimenting with the Rum-Bar OP's replacement, the new "Worthy Park" OP.
There really is something to be said about the combo of Campari and overproof Jamaican rums. While we didn't include RumBar in this video, I think I'll try the Firewalker with it and see how it does
I'm so happy you did this blind tasting! What a great idea to put all the rums in cocktails! I did a similar blind tasting (neat only) and Charlie's JB was the winner!
I opened my first bottle of Rum Fire this weekend and I completely get the “industrial” thing you two keep referencing. For me it was almost coming across as a “swimming pool” finish lurking just under the intense ester/rotting fruit notes
In a blind tasting, my family unanimously found Rum bar over proof our favorite in a similar line up. The new stuff is good, but not nearly as good as Rum bar for our tastes. Great video, cheers!
Two drunk gentlemen. 😂 Never had the Monymusk but I have the other three (and the discontinued Rum-Bar) and have been doing Jamaican Rum Punch all summer and prefer it with the Worthy Park, a new favourite.
Well done. I found a bottle of the Worthy Park about a month ago not yet on the shelf at my local bottle shop. Damn it’s good. Love to colab videos as well.
I feel like the conclusive take away from this is that Derek can hold his liquor better than Arminder. After this and the Nuclear Daquiri video on Derek's channel I'll have to find a bottle of the Worthy Park. Rum Fire has been my go to float a bit on top of cocktails to punch them up a bit. P.S. I feel like all the people saying the Rum Fire Walker is nasty or gross are ones that like the idea of Rum more than actually liking Rum.
Watching this video made me realize that the only thing that held me back from making a Rum Firewalker was a lack of Campari...which I now have (bought to try out Jungle Birds). Now drinking my first Firewalker... it's a bold cocktail 😂 I always love these collab videos with you two, please keep em coming!
Just pausing to say that I bought a small bottle of Rum Fire because of this channel and I tried it in the Rum Firewalker because of Make and Drink and I LOOOOVED it. So the hate comments on that video made me laugh. They're wrong. Now I want to make a Nuclear Daiquiri. I've made it once before and loved it, but didn't have overproof rum like this, so now I'm all set. Might get the Worthy Park for my full sized bottle tho. xoxo
How'd your tasting session at Last Rites go, Arminder? My wife and I were at LR the night before when I found out you were doing that the next day! Totally would have gone, but we had to be back at work the next morning and we live 2 hours away😕
OK so I just made a Rum Firewalker, scaled down to 1/3 volume, better safe than sorry. Not sure if this is reason to be proud or embarrassed but I get it. The cinnamon does a good-enough job of keeping the funk in check, and while it could be a bit more balanced the flavour profile is close enough to a crowd pleaser. I see this drink somewhere between a frat party dare and something to get newbies hooked on the fascinating diversity of mixology. Not having this for the last time 👍🥂 Edit: I guess what's preventing this from being 10/10 for me is the bitter notes. Which gives me ample pretext to play with swapping the Campari for something else. Aperol, Averna, Nonnino, and Amaro de Angostura come to mind. So much variety and only one liver...
I kinda don’t disagree with you regarding the fart party element lol there’s definitely an aspect to it. I also like to think of it as a knowing handshake between rum imbibers. Playing around with the amaro is definitely something to look into. Curious to see how something sweeter like averna does.
@@therumrevival Hehe hilarious typo 🤣Anyway, yes, of course, the connoisseurs' handshake definitely is a way of looking at it -- which didn't occur to me because I don't even remotely consider myself one yet, and as of yet my life is sadly devoid of other rum fans with whom I could share my entusiasm... 🥂
Hey, Arminder, have you tried the Kingston Americano from Joaquin Simo and Death & Co? I'd say it is somewhere between a Wray & Ting and a Rum Firewalker. You'd probably like it!
I love the Rum Firewalker- but Arminder, what are these rumblings I’m hearing of a Wray and Nephew and Rum Fire shortage? Last week I went to get a bottle for myself and it’s sold out all around me!
How, how, how does one sign up to drink high proof rums on camera and make money (every bit counts) from it while hanging out with a rum buddy and building a community. Sign me up. Viva La Rum Revolution.
It's remarkably easy (well maybe not the money part lol). Stick a camera in front of you the next time you're drinking lol. Its been so cool to see people both in person and online who are into and passionate about rum. That's been the best part of all this. Cheers
Rum Fire, the drinkable gas station 🤣2 of my favourite rum/cocktail Tubers crushing overprooves, what could go wrong? Anyway, my takeaway is that Rum Fire is pretty much useless neat but the daddy of mixers. And I'm definitely gonna try the Firewalker, if maybe scaled down by volume. Is the Worthy Park replacing Rum Bar or is it a new product? 🥂 Edit: feel free to sleep it off before replying 😄
Yeah good assessment on the Rum Fire. And yes, WP is replacing RB. Its an entirely different blend of rums. Also, as you could imagine after filming I slept like a log lol
Rumfire ... you can't unsmell/taste the Hampden in that one. It's so specific. Seeing you drink those Nuclear daiquiri makes me wanna make a daiquiri ... with long pond STCE (Habitation Velier) the best.
Worthy Park OP is completely different with the cane juice component. Not even close to the Rum Bar it replaced. I think WP is trying to differentiate themselves
This has me super curious to try the Worthy Park. Rum-Bar Over proof has always been my favorite and since Worthy Park makes that I'm likely to enjoy this
Yikes! Did you guys both wake up in a farmer's field next to sheep wearing your underwear? It's OK, I won't tell anyone. 🐑 BTW, if you do one of these again, make sure someone knows where you are and can bail you out.
LOL - Weirdly enough, I was in much better shape after filming this one than the one I did with Doc Parks and the Rhum JM rums. I was a mess after shooting that lol
Watching the two of you get more and more buzzed as the video goes on is highly entertaining.
😂 💯 the giggles were hilarious
I'm shocked, shocked there was no "I love you man." "No, I love you man." though we did get a hug, at least 😁.
Thanks! it was pretty fun to shoot as you could imagine.
@@therumrevival Totally. This must have been a blast!
Not sure if I want to watch this
There’s just a few moments of shenanigans. The rest is all heart.
