The value proposition for a lot of people might have to come from another place. For me, a great company that makes itself relevant year after year. I want to support them for being Spendor. But I also think/ experience a fantastic sounding speaker. I would spend the money whereas other people might well- rightly, judge this to be overpriced.

@@enigmatwist6548 I think you have nothing to do and comment, so you don't fall asleep. Spendor does not even make drivers. There is nothing made in the house, just assembled. the components are of poor quality, you may have a spendor and it hurts to find out that they are cheap components. Calm down and don't take it personally, it's not the only brand that does it

Spendor design and manufacture every key component in every Spendor loudspeaker inhouse in the UK. That includes Spendor drivers, cones, cabinets and crossovers through to winding their own crossover inductors (coils) and thermo-forming EP77 cones. I don’t know what audio capacitors they use but I doubt they would ever use anything that would impede the sound quality for the sake of saving a few pennies.
I appreciate building your own speakers is a lot more involving and in some ways educational but don’t start carrying on like your some sort of maestro speaker builder because you’ve managed to cobble together a few parts. Although do please prove me wrong, start your own company and knockout a few PureMusic specials. Get some rave reviews and make yourself a fortune, I do like surprises.

    The black material is bitumen
And the crossover is good but doesn’t have the best parts.
    But these are amazing speakers

  • @wersuss

But crossover Design also plays big role in sound. Not only parts. It's good design of crossover. Parts were selected to alter sound, doesn't mean higher resolution will be more pleasant sound:)

Nice drivers and veneer. Sadly the cabinet is not marine ply like they used to be and the crossover has electrolytics, iron core inductors and sand cast resistors, none of these good for high resolution....Not great for the price....

But one thing they doing absolutely right is real wood veneer build, except it's not in curved shape.

Cheaply made, using cheap components, then sold for massive profits. Most speakers are about 75% markup at the dealer from cost to manufacturer.
