I'm loving the Vaporfly 3. The roomier upper works for my foot shape and I enjoy the extra stability they have introduced. I might be fitter these days because my times in it are faster than what I posted in the earlier versions. In Australia we get a better deal as it only costs $330 RRP but you can usually find a retailer that offers a 15% off code so you pay around $280 AUD which is only around 145 pounds. And whenever you pay less for a shoe, you tend to overlook any minor negatives more so than if you fork out the full earth credits!

I always preferred the VF over the AF in the Nike race shoe lineup. And with this latest version, I still do. Same great midsole, good outsole, better stability, roomier upper and extremely light weight. It remains my go to race shoe but the pack is closing. And yes, in my books, Asics Metaspeed Sky+ and Saucony Endorphin Elite are very close. For sheer performance, the ZoomX midsole remains top dog.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  Год назад +3

  • @SagasuRunning

Your criticism of the upper is fair. I guess I have the ideal foot shape as I find the fit ideal for my foot, though I do get a little bunching at the base of the lacing (as you described). I too have also found the durability of the outsole to be very good and have almost the same observations as you do.
However, I’m not finding the drop off in ZoomX like you are. If anything I’m finding it very consistent from first run. I’m approaching 100mi on my pair as well. In all honestly the whole ZoomX doesn’t last thing ended with the original Next% for me. The formulas we have now are very good, consistent and durable. Though I do agree Lightstrike Pro and FFTurbo both wear in and get better approaching 100mi and overall have better durability over longer ranges.
Fair and balanced review. Great job as always!

Upon trying them on my foot, I could tell right away that it’s just lacking in a lot of ways.. going backwards. They had the original vaporfly nearly perfect. If they can just mimic that original vaporfly but with added stability (not as narrow in the midfoot), that would be the perfect shoe. I Started feeling like I was the only one who noticed that these aren’t great. I’m glad to see an honest review about these.

Disagree about the ZoomX foam degrading. I have honestly felt no difference in my vaporflys up to around 700km. Above that I noticed it going off. In fact I set my 10k PB in a shoe that had 700km on it. Also had no problems with wear on the sole - even after using them off road on hard packed trails. V1 is still my favourite version of the shoe though.

Half size down fixed it for me and love it now like v1. v1 was a half size up 9.5 though, v2 TTS 9, and v3 down half a size 8.5. The midsole feels back on track with this one and not the firmer, stiffer, deader ride of v2. With the weight about the same as v3 and the sizing, it makes it the lightest for me too.

I used to buy only Nike running shoes but things are changed. My latest Nike shoe with full zoomx midsole is streakfly and even though my wear pattern usually around midfoot-forefoot area zoomx foam started to break apart from heel area which doesn't make sense to me at all. At 50k it looked like a tiny cut, at 75k most of the medial side of the midsole was gone.
One of my friends got the Vaporfly 3 as soon as it hit the market and his problems with midsole wear started after 100K and it became unusuable right around 130 to 140.
I don't have high hopes for Nike at the moment.

But I have the Metaspeed sky at 63 miles and the Adios pro 2 which got to 420 miles before I retired them. Also the Sen 8 at 250 miles. Now I would still choose the Vaporfly above all of them even at 100 miles old. The pro 2 was a good long run training shoe but not that fast and Metaspeed is fast but destroys my feet at any distance, at a push a half marathon but it’s too firm for anything more. The Vaporfly hits that sweet spot of being fast but comfortable enough for a marathon which the others don’t have.

Hey guys I am a new runner started a week ago went from 1km max distance to 3.5km now in a run 😂
I picked up an invincible 3 but I found it too soft and a little wobbly like it has no lean support if the road isn’t even like on grass… I am looking for a more sturdy shoe would this shoe be better ?

    • @EDDBUD

This is still soft. Grab the Pegasus or Vomero 17. Bit more resilient and stable

Are these shoes recommended for beginners or Nike invincible 3 a better option?

    • @EDDBUD

The invincible is really squashy and not stable at all. Neither are good for a beginner. I say go down the Pegasus or Vomero route.
