  • The DMV says I am only allowed to drive dump trucks with automatic transmission.
How can I remove this restriction from my CDL?
Is driving a manual dump truck still valuable?

Well here in California, like you I drove a city bus and got trained by them and they did the same as you and added that restriction. I was trained on a manual back when I first received my regular licenses, and I also have an M1 (motorcycle) I'm thinking of switching to cement trucks all automatics, but you are trained on an 8-speed manual, long story short I need a learner permit ( paper version)pay a school to drive around, till I get this double clutching, then I need to take the skills test at DMV at the CDL DMV and done its removed. I Don't understand why your state makes you card two cards when they can just re-issue you a new one without the restriction?

I had my regular Class B CDL license with the restriction for automatic only. The other card was a learners permit for practicing on the manual transmission. They don’t use paper permits anymore. I don’t know why.

Driving a truck is different than driving a car I think they are restricted to letting drivers drive manual

Anyone with a drivers license can drive a car - automatic or manual doesn't matter.

It depends if the truck has air brakes, I drove both regular and air
