    Absolutely a fun key. Not only for facilitating other altissimo notes, but shakes ( trills with wide intervals). Thank you as always

    I'm with you! Glad to have the high F# key for all of the same reasons. One comment: at 5:04 while pushing the F# key with your RH index for a high G sound, I also push the side Bb key with the same finger at the same time. It opens the high G up to an even more in tune and stable G note.

    Good morning bro the statement you made quote l would never buy a saxophone without the high F sharp key is spot on . However l would add l would never buy a saxophone without adjustment screws on the right and left hand stacks. Have a great day sir and keep up the good work.

      @@FernandoFerreira-kf6kz there’s an old Yamaha YAS 21 going cheap and I have only ever heard good things about this sax but it doesn’t have a high F# key. As a tenor player that dabbles with alto, this sax might be ideal for me as I have little money to spend right now

    • @blueeyedsoulman
      @blueeyedsoulman 3 года назад +1

      @@amathesaxylady I own the tenor version and I actually like it better than my non-F# MKVI. That being said there are NO screw adjustments for the G/G# keys and this is HELL for the average tech (or yourself.) The adjustment is made through making the exact correct cork size for each position. This is not easy and you can't make quick adjustments so these horns (and many older horns) can leak like crazy or go south fast if cork moves or falls off. Just a friendly warning. I would go for a modern horn with high F# and screws for the key adjustments. This is 40 years of experience speaking. All the best.

    I don't have a high F# key. I don't even have a sax. The closest I have is a wooden medieval instrument, single reed conical bore, with no keys, that sounds a lot like a soprano sax. But as an instrumentalist I think it's amazingly cool that such a video exists.

Most of which amounts "Trane had this", "Bird used that." Or "High F# weakens the horn." And the BEST one "Oh man, I'm never gonna use that thing." So now people are purposely building "classic" horns with no high F#? AAAAGGGHHHHHHH..............F#$%&.

You perform very nice and flawless chromatic Altissimo scale and I would like to know if there is one video or a PDF where you share all the best fingerings that you found, all the way up to Altissimo C. Is there a collection of all fingerings in one video or even better, one PDF?

      Agreed. I never understood why not in this century all saxes just include it in manufacturing going forward. The marketing or dumb promotional logic labeling it for professionals or advanced only is a scam and ridiculous racket. What would happen in the sax world if they announced that saxes with no F# sharp key longer be produced and will be a thing of the past? Would people be angry about that? It should just be industry standard. This isn't 1920 anymore. FYI - (I've been playing Sax since 1982)

    Front F + C with the side Bb actually is perfectly in tune on my bari Super 20. First sax I've ever had that happen on lol--have to use B + Bb to hit altissimo G on it though (front key produces a high F lol). On tenor I use front F with Bis AND side Bb which is in tune (just like adding the 4 obv) but I like the feel of it better (fingering-wise). Also: I actually kind of like the "instability" bc I voice it more (like an altissimo note). Have you done any videos on articulating altissimo? It's so hard to quickly tongue notes for me.

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  3 года назад +1

      Usually for any sax we use an "ahh" voicing for the lower register and an "uuu" or "eee" voicing for the upper part. Soprano sax for you may be unusual necessitating a more "eee" voicing for the full range of the saxophone. I would try what the teacher suggests for a few months and see what happens. For me, I approach soprano as I would any other saxophone. I have a review on my current soprano sax (Allora Paris professional sax) and I talk about why I like it so much and which difficulties have been eliminated from this 🎷 horn in particular.

    #:30 is weak city, thin, not a good tone at all, the others were much, much better. Most of my (older) pro friends would not HAVE the high F# key, as it's unnecessary, throws off the integrity of the tube (changes dimensions), can leak, and adds weight. Nice alt playing, though.
