My grandma passed away last March and she used to hum and sing Que Sera Sera all the time. I've been learning to play along with you so that I can perform for my family this summer. Your lessons are great and have been very helpful! Thank you so much. I can't wait to bring back happy memories for my family.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me Holly. I am glad that I can help. I have a Facebook page, and I am also on Instagram with The Ukulele Fool. I would love it if you posted a photo or video of your summer gathering performance. I am so sorry that your grandmother is no longer with us in this world.
Just this tutorial alone would prompt and motivate me to become your patron. Your teaching style is so patient, clear and understandable. You have made me a better uke player and singer. Thank you - Susan Grace
Tried this one again today after the pick and flick lesson. Much easier doing the G string pluck. I also always found normal playing of this song quite difficult, but I must finally be improving as I went straight through today! So two ways of playing this now.
Wonderful! We just played this tune last Friday on our Virtual Jam and Open Mic. Come join us tomorrow. Details on The Ukulele Fool Facebook Event. We do our jams via Zoom - so we can at least see each other and cheer one another on.
Thank you so much Bob!!! Bless your heart. I will give you 5 extra entries in my string give-a-way. I live in Louisville, KY in the winter. If you ever need a fingerpicking, strumming or how to practice workshop - please think of me.
Very convenient to put in the D to D7 (Hawaiian) to G. When changing to the D7 from D, my first finger is already on the G string, I put middle finger on the E string to play the D7, and then it is so simple to move both those fingers simultaneously one string down and add the ring finger for the G chord. Simples!! (Well not too hard.)
This is another of those songs which seem as if they should be so easy to play, but actually I find quite difficult. Still, keep at it. The chuck though is really quite reasonable now - at least when I hit the strings right!
How kind of you!! I actually have gotten to connect with quite a few folks over this past year and half. I have folks all over the world that I consider friends. I do a regular Friday night jam. Some of the folks that join are actually already into Saturday morning. Check out my Facebook page tomorrow for details.
I do that exact strum for this and all the 3/4 songs that I play on ukulele. D. D U. D. U But, I do not use the chuck. I don't think 3/4 time songs need the chuck. I absolutely can chuck. But, I save it for: "Proud Mary" "Obla diObla di" "Drift Away" and a few others
@@TheUkuleleFool I heard a great version of "Obla di Obla di with a chuck. So, I include a chuck there. Plus, the song where I first learned to chuck "Proud Mary" I love it there
Thank you very much for your videos. They are so helpful. Please tell me: how did you attach the strap to the uke? Did you have to drill it? I would like to play standing, too.
Yes, you need to drill it to use a traditional strap. You have to make sure that there is bracing inside your ukulele body. We used a phone flashlight to get a look inside. Sopranos often don't have bracing. If you don't have bracing, I recommend a HUG strap. Good luck with that. Glad I can help.
Whilst I always try to keep the recommended chord fingering, there are times when it is more convenient to use a different finger e.g. here when changing from the G to Am and then to D (or D7), I use the index finger for Am which I find is an easier transition from G to Am, and then it is also in place for the D or D7. If I ever get to playing with more advanced players, would I be criticised for that?
Long story here.. I spent a summer studying with a teacher who was playing piccolo for the New York Philharmonic. She spent the 12 weeks we had trying to get me to "fix" the way I positioned my right hand pinky. It never got "fixed." Then I studied with other folks and they said "WHAT!?" Why?? I see so many ukulele players with so many different styles of playing, from the way they hold their hands when they strum, to the position of their left hand thumb, and there are quite a bit of variations. I don't think you will be criticized for that. In fact, I rarely even get a negative comment or a thumbs down on any of my videos. The ukulele community is just cool that way.
Yes, you can! Chord charts are available to my patrons - Here's the link directly to the chord chart. Being a patron gets you other rewards too, like live jams, and open mics, first pick at being a beta tester for my courses, etc. www.patreon.com/posts/28357535
Hi there! I covered this song on my birthday and your tutorial helped me a lot because I'm not the best at ukulele, so I wanted to thank you sincerely. Also, it would mean the world to me if you had a listen to my cover!😃❤️

I’m working on my chuck. I laugh at myself, but I’m very determined to learn! Thank you!
I spent hours just relaxing and chucking. You'll get it.
I’m starting a new ukulele club in Marion Nc. I just shared this video to Marion Ukulele Society......

Thanks for the strum tutorial. I’m working on it!
You are really progressing as a ukulele player.

That has been a real topic of conversation lately. Yes it is simple. Glad it could help you play this song.
6 chords, waltz time and chucks? 2 out of 3 ain’t bad! Another great tutorial. Thank you.
Thanks Rachel!!! I hope you can join us at the jam this weekend.
Love it...please do 21 day fingerpick course please

Glad to hear that your chuck is working. Playing in 3/4 really throws a monkey wrench at you.
