Yeah it does. It doesn’t open the app shortcuts, but when opening the desired app via the shortcut it will show on top that it was opened via shortcuts

There are things I certainly like about iOS but I am TOTALLY missing the ease and variety of customizability I had with my Android. Yes same! I love how iOS is really put together and simple to use, but I miss being able to customise my phone much more easily. But I have had enough of android, I used to go for Xiaomi phones and at one point, no matter what I did, the phone said I had no service even tho the sim worked perfectly in other devices. So I thought this time I wanna spend some money on a phone that’s good quality and might as well try out iOS.

Chris as a UI Designer I can tell you, That this is completely untrue. Apple has some guidelines, but they are not as strict as you might think. The real reason why the apps look different on iOS, is because they develop natively and have different teams for each os. Also: Frontend developer != Designer. They sometimes fuck the given Design up when developing the app.

Sooo true! I have an iPad Air 3rd generation and when I installed the iOS 14 update today, just like everyone else, I went straight to accessing the new features. But I was so disappointed that I couldn’t use all of the new features simply because it was an iPad.

As an Android user, this actually makes me open to an iPhone one day. Automation via Shortcuts is much more advanced than Google Assistant and don't depend on speaking. Thank you, Apple, for copying two great ideas from Android. Wish you guys on both sides would do this more often. No shame in that. They are smooth I’ll give them that. But they are so, so slow. I use an iPhone as my daily and a 120hz android phone as my work phone and the android phone runs rings round the iPhone. It feels so crispy and smooth. Fingers crossed for a 120hz iPhone this year 🤞🏼
For Level 3 about the shortcuts. If you turn on "Reduce motion" option in settings you skip the extra .5 seconds load and go straight to the app shortcutted.

3:13 You say you can make your only home screen now have no apps, but you don't really explain how to do this. I don't have a app that looks like a ghost. Do I need to get that somewhere?
You just have to go into the rearrange apps mode and click the minus, then when the menu pops up click remove from Home Screen. You would have to do that to every app on your home screen currently.
@@anands7371 does the animation serve a purpose? On Android in developer options I tend to turn animations off. Things open instantly, no wasting fractions of a second waiting. 🙂
But it app freezes when you press the side button to open it stays stuck on lock screen for 4 seconds and after tapping it multiple times it opens and its laggy asf
Man, if only these widgets were interactable. The old iOS widgets were interactable, I don’t know why Apple decided to make the new ones purely visual.
Yeah I used to be on iOS when they first added widgets and I remember they were almost as interactable as Android, but they were stuck on the notification center
The reason is battery life. The current widget is basically a serious of photos that get updated at certain intervals in a "timeline". Having them intractable requires them to actually be small little apps running on your home screen all the time. Apple might do it still, but maybe they will optimize the next A chip for it.

As an Android user, this actually makes me open to an iPhone one day. Automation via Shortcuts is much more advanced than Google Assistant and don't depend on speaking.
Thank you, Apple, for copying two great ideas from Android. Wish you guys on both sides would do this more often. No shame in that. Great to finally see iPhone screens no longer looking like tacky relics of the past.

I've been thinking of going back to an iPhone, but this just sealed the deal that I really prefer Android's customizations more :)
As an android user, I'm must appreciate the iOS animations. They are really smooth n buttery.
But they're also sooo slow.
Just go to developer settings and switch the animation speeds to 2x lmao
All they're doing is slowing down the animations to make it look smoother

They are smooth I’ll give them that. But they are so, so slow. I use an iPhone as my daily and a 120hz android phone as my work phone and the android phone runs rings round the iPhone. It feels so crispy and smooth. Fingers crossed for a 120hz iPhone this year 🤞🏼

For Level 3 about the shortcuts. If you turn on "Reduce motion" option in settings you skip the extra .5 seconds load and go straight to the app shortcutted.
Why would you reduce the motion on a 120hz display?

Hey Marques, to get around the Siri Shortcut animation. Go to:
Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Reduce Motion.
that is a complete lie, it just makes it slower

3:13 You say you can make your only home screen now have no apps, but you don't really explain how to do this. I don't have a app that looks like a ghost. Do I need to get that somewhere?
You just have to go into the rearrange apps mode and click the minus, then when the menu pops up click remove from Home Screen. You would have to do that to every app on your home screen currently.

@@anands7371 does the animation serve a purpose? On Android in developer options I tend to turn animations off. Things open instantly, no wasting fractions of a second waiting. 🙂
reduce motion is fine on phones with a home button but without a home button it just feels wierd lol
It doesn't speed it up, the time the animation uses up is just a weird freeze screen, at least at my 11
me: pulls out my jailbroken iphone 4s. transformer unlock sound. animated home screen. widget with calendar and weather. yep still there.
But it app freezes when you press the side button to open it stays stuck on lock screen for 4 seconds and after tapping it multiple times it opens and its laggy asf

Man, if only these widgets were interactable. The old iOS widgets were interactable, I don’t know why Apple decided to make the new ones purely visual.

Yeah I used to be on iOS when they first added widgets and I remember they were almost as interactable as Android, but they were stuck on the notification center
Because they're Apple, what feature do you think is gonna be in iOS 15 because they "listened to fans"?

The reason is battery life. The current widget is basically a serious of photos that get updated at certain intervals in a "timeline". Having them intractable requires them to actually be small little apps running on your home screen all the time. Apple might do it still, but maybe they will optimize the next A chip for it.
