Congratulations on the 1 k painting the backdrop changes the scene for sure. I paint my track the same way with a spray can and wipe the tracks clean with a piece of wood before it drys. Quick and easy way to weather the rails. Great share enjoy the rest of your day
Looking good! Some beautiful scenery along the Columbia River. Drove through that area last summer. I need to add some black paper in my tunnel portals. Seems to help!
Great update and nice work on the foam bluff! I had the luxury of painting my flex track for entire layout with rattle can out on back deck when the weather was decent. I used petroleum jelly to cover the rail heads making it easier to wipe off after painting with IPA. Also taped the ends so no need to scrape/etc when joining track. Modest touch ups when on layout will be needed but not a full up painting session. Prepping all my turnouts the same way tomorrow as supposed to be decent weather (temp wise) Monday with intent to get all the turnouts (55 of them to be exact) painted the same way with petroleum jelly on rail heads as well as in-between contacts when switch is tripped. Not sure how much more track you have to lay/repaint but perhaps will be a handy tip for you. My plan is to weather ties/rail by hand but since around the wall shelf layout, will be unable to effectively weather the 'backside'. At least this way, there is a base coat of flat brown so isn't raw/plastic looking. Enjoying the channel and your updates! Glad you are getting a new mic!
I've found that a pair of flush cut hobby nippers works real well trimming off the spikes of ties that you plan to use as filler ties for your gaps. Good update video!
The layout is really coming along - I wish I had some of your energy! IDK if you're familiar with Thunder Mesa Studios channel but there are some excellent vids on rock carving,
The painted backdrop really cleans the looks of the layout up👍🏽. Sound on this video was all over the place.
Thx for the feedback. My mic pooped out on me. I have a new one ordered. 👍
