I’m just here to read the comments of how much better life for kids was back then. You know, where toys taught children things like chemistry, creativity and how to light up a fattie…
I think this promotional video was a last ditch effort by the Gilbert Toy Company to save the company. The owner died in 1961. The company died in 1967.
The riff masters! That was really funny. Classic MST3K style of riffing! I know it was impossible for you guys to stay on the show forever, but the best years of mst3k riffing was Joel and you guys. I'm still laughing at all the shows you've done. Glad to see your cameo on Svengoolie too! The magic you two had with Joel and Kevin was awesome comedy!
Toys were a lot less safe in the 60s, weren't they? Sure, you've heard cases of kids getting burned by a Thing Maker. But what about the more dangerous toys? Ever seen a kid take a Wing Thing to the gut? Not a pretty sight.
To me it sounded like a drunken Mad Men moment where some dude was in a fugue and "Kids like Elvis, make a jingle out of that 'Train Train' song he does."
I don't know what the deal is with the Mads promotional company, but I never get an email letting me know when they're going to do something live. Anyone else having that issue?

_"It's the Gilbert Anti-Feminism Kit!"_ Bless ya Frank, best laugh I've had in weeks, never change!
Frank: "I can't riff this, it's fuck cool!"
That Gilbert Erector set looks so appealing. It almost gave me an... ecstatic feeling for old toys.
💀😆😀

Now with 10 percent less lead
Game train? It's a game and a train. It's not the radiation science kit but whatever.
That one seems like a real case of: "we need a new product, what do we have laying around?" 😳
@@HPSquirrelCraft Let's add small action figures to the erector sets. They'll buy them for the action figures.
@@525Lines I'm listening....

Another great short! The Mads strike again!
"The Gilbert Anti-Feminism Kit!" I think Phyllis Schlafly had one of those.

Haha
Plastic turtle or this? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_U-238_Atomic_Energy_Laboratory
The kit's intention was to allow children to create and watch nuclear and chemical reactions using radioactive material. Holy Fudge!
Old toys didn't give a shit about your safety. It was fun and educational and most people survived with no harm done.
*spills popcorn out of mouth*..
Eeeeehhh.. I didn't like this one... MA!.. CHANGE THA CHANNEL!!
Jk!! What a gas!!
But where's the hour-long tribute to overpriced, mediocre theater snacks, Fellas? ;)
