As a parent of a special needs Son myself, I feel it is so important to share and educate; good or bad. The fact is, this is our reality and as frightening and daunting as it first is, it becomes as normal as brushing your teeth. I love how you stress the fact, that Sebastian has taught you things you never knew about yourself because I feel the same way about my Son. I never knew I could be patient and calm, whilst my insides are in turmoil, I never knew I could love and adore another human being so much, I never knew what was REALLY important to me, until I held my Son for the first time. I think if any expectant or new Mom is having a hard time adjusting to the idea of having a disabled child, watching you with Sebastian could give anyone hope and rest, racing minds. Sebastian is truly the most beautiful little man and he's so blessed to have two incredible parents, who adore the wee miracle that he is. There will be days you may not wish to share with us, but we know that even on those most difficult days your love for Sebastian is strong! Your family is an inspiration to many!

Good mama. You just do whatever you have to do for the sake of your baby. As a grandma that had to feed her grandson through a port in his chest everyday, it broke my heart but I prayed to God for strength and my prayers were answered. Prayers for all mothers with sick children.

Do you rock him to sleep, or when he is tired does he lay down and fall asleep on his own? I miss those days when they were small enough to rock to sleep:) He just melts my heart. So adorable! Sometimes I rock him, and sometimes he’s a big boy and doesn’t need his mama 😭 and thank you so much!! That’s a really sweet compliment. And yes!!! Zeus is such a good dog!

Sebastian is so precious! My beautiful granddaughter was born with a heart condition. She also had areas that would turn blue when she cried. She had her 1st open heart surgery at 6mo. She’s just turned 10yrs old and Dr’s said she’ll have to have her 2nd open heart surgery next year. The value they replaced is leaking, plus she has a new leak in a different area. Hopefully that surgery will hold until she turns 18-19yrs old before her 3rd and hopefully last open heart surgery. She’s an awesome girl just like your son. God bless you all!
I have an 11 month old with dwarfism who is still newborn size at 7 lbd 19 inches. He was born 15 ounces. He's had 9 major surgeries on his torso and he has gtube and oxygen and has since birth. I was today years old when I learned my canula may be too low to his ears. My baby rips them off constantly. I was looking searching for ways to keep canula on when I found you.
marymegc yes! Actually it is a a characteristic of his syndrome. Children who have Cornelia de Lange syndrome often how low tone in their vocal cords, and they usually are non verbal as well. We’re still unsure if he will be able to talk or use his voice.
Hi my question is how old is Sebastian and I used to work with disability funding for helping people with distability if you need anything let me one question that I have is it makes me feel sad that he has to go be put with a tooth down and throw it when you're the kid is that common for kids to have that gene

candi0826 thank you!! He can breathe, but not for long without it. His heart isn’t healthy enough to support his body on its own. There is not enough oxygen in his blood right now, which will hopefully be corrected with another heart surgery next year!
He has ptosis which is droopiness of the eyelids. He just recently had ptosis surgery which has helped him significantly with being able to open up his eye lids more. We will make a video soon of him back in action! He is a changed boy!
