Indoors they are a beast, definitely deserving of the “Bad Boys” title. It’s great when brands fix the issues from the previous model, in this shoe it was the containment and the lacing. This shoe is an example of that, but I wish brands would do that more consistently.
Even though there are a lot of other PG 5 performance reviews that came out before this, I still waited for your take. You never disappoint. Good stuff!
Hey Guys! Time for a good ol' fashioned Performance Review. Remember those? Let us know if you've gotten some court time in the Nike PG 5 and how you'd rate them versus their predecessors. Have a good one!
Having tested so many shoes over the years, do you believe that Nike Basketball really designs their shoes for indoor use only at this point? It seems like outdoor use destroys their shoes at a rate that's no longer acceptable.
hi i just want to say that I have my PG 5 popping out inside the shoes IDK why is that happening. Does anybody here has the same experience as mine? I'm using this since July.
@@Mathias9n I think he meant the format not where the reviews are done and also I don't think outdoor reviews are representative of indoor performance as outdoor may save some bad traction. Don't get me wrong I definitely think adding outdoor performance on the indoor reviews are good (esp considering I'm from asia and we only have outdoor courts) but still your logic doesn't add up
@@scordatura9259 Yeah, I was talking about the format. I prefer when Chris is in the studio talking about the shoe while there's B-roll of him playing. Audio is better and he isn't out of breath trying to explain things.
Thanks for putting this out! I customized a pair but hadn’t purchased it cuz I was waiting on a performance review. I got the PG4s for 45$ and they are actually great for that price and based on your review, ima just get a GR PG5 pair once some colorways go on clearance
I’ve had about a dozen diff PGs, including every model except the 2.5 (wasn’t messing w/them after the Zion blowout), & these, which I’ll get once I can play indoor again. My fav, performance wise, by FAR is the PG 3. The fit, traction, and comfort/feel is all great. I kept using my PG 3 BHM (which look NICE) indoors over my PG 4 last year, I loved them so much. Most colorways weren’t much to look at, but performance wise it’s been my fav by a mile.
I’ll say that you should prioritize outdoor reviews. Many people have trouble finding indoor gyms, plus it shows how good they are on casual days at the park.
Nice review- Just found your channel. I have been playing in Kobe 8's for many years (I loved them so much that I bought 3 pairs and have been dreading the day when they were toast and I had to search out something new). I recently went out to find my next balling shoe and tried a ton of stuff. What I really like in my bball shoes is lightweight, low to the ground feel, contoured and closely form fitting (not boxy or wide), good support to lock in heel and provide lateral support in forefoot and comfort in the cushioning. The Kobe 8's were a 9 out of 10 for me in this regard, missing a 10 because the toe box was stiff and slightly wide. The PG5 is a very nice overall performing shoe. Not quite as low to the ground feeling vs the Kobe8 and not quite as lightweight, but the support is better and the cushion feels better. Not as sleek and streamlined feeling of a fit, but really terrific. I haven't yet tried the NB Omn1s, but the Two WXY was also very excellent. Looking forward to more reviews and catching up on some of your other videos. If you have recommendations for someone coming from Kobe 8's that will make me happy, please let me know. Thanks!
Idk how many people need to hear this... But I mainly (95% of the time) play on outdoor courts, and the PG5 with xdr rubber is lasting pretty well. I play about twice a week, and so far no fraying from the outsoles. Your knees and feet would still kill you the day after (this is not lebron level cushioning at all), but if you're looking for a pair with good traction that's not expensive, like Nightwing said, this might be the shoe for you
way back 2018 when i got hooked with the performance of the shoes and weartesters is the number 1 when it comes to reviewing the shoes no bias pure review to its quality and performance. The best review i got with him is on Kobe 9s and I really loved its performance, hope PG5 give the same performance as Kobe 9s, I already ordered PG5 and excited to try it in game thank you for the review all the best 🇵🇭👏
These are definitely a sale pickup. I can't wait for you to review the Zion 1! I believe those will be bad boys. I'm going to click so fast on that one! Also always love the hooping footage and the slow mo Nightwing swish 3:50 ! 🔥
I guess for wide feet like mine, pg4 is mad comfortable for me, although I only weighs about 62kg, played guard bcs I'm short. I even got them for 50 bucks. Love your video and them b roll is fire man.
Chris, could you do another review, but for indoors?they are finally on sale here in Brazil and I would love to have one of those. My playstyle is similar to yours(bad knee/ankle,SG vibe's) and your reviews are my main source of infos
The PG3 cushion was better than my $150 insole that were custom molded for me I loved the traction too. I could play outside, clean the soles and play indoors fine. The PG4 for some reason was too soft like my foot went right through it and there was not enough bounce back when I step back down. But the PG4 fit perfectly for my foot. I'm a wide footer and I have no arch (severe flat footed) so shoes are hard to find
I'm still scared to play in new PGs. The PG3 tore my feet up for a long time before I broke them in. I love my pair now, but I almost threw them out when I first got them because they hurt so much.
I did get a customs colorway of these and they are pretty good The traction is good and is freighing a little bit but I still got xdr rubber so . I play a ton of Basketball. cool vid
@@TREXHUNTERX I have an XDR version and the traction has little to no fraying on it. But I haven't play with them outside. I would suggest getting an XDR pair but thee Traction is good. I think it will last you like 18 months on Indoor court and probably 4-6 months outdoor court.
Killer effin kicks... I got mine for $100 AUD. An absolute steal. Comfort is insane and traction is gooood. Such a good show for the price. Shocked at the value.

I never played in the Pg5’s because the fit was not right on me. These guys I got first day of launch and have been great! Love the fit and cushion is just enough indoors but the traction is not as strong as the Kobe 9’s. Kobe 9’s is my favorite and have 4 I still put in the rotation. I would recommend these to hoop indoor with!
at first, my feet hurts because of the fit. i went up full size, my feet are 29 cm long and i go size 13 which is 31 cm but still hurt. thats how narrow the fit is
I just got the Bred colorway and honestly I prefer them over the PG4 because of the fit. PG4 felt so suffocating, and these fixed that fit. I still play with the 4s because I like the cushions but man I can’t play long with them.
From my own personal experience, these shoes grip so nicely on any basketball surfaces. I’ve played in them pretty much every game on a weekly basis since Feb in an indoor gym, and honestly the bite is consistent even in Rec Centre courts (which is dusty as heck!). My only main concern is the cheap materials which lead to one of the airbags protruding out inside the shoe. I seriously don’t know what happened but it did and it’s still playable but slightly uncomfortable and if you want to keep playing through it, it does take time getting used to. Let me know if anyone else experienced this and if there’s a way to fix it! Because the shoes itself is really great!
Hey Chris, what are your thoughts on Nike not being able to sign with the Bryant estate to continue producing his signature shoes? Will we see the end of the legendary Kobe line?
Thanks for this video, I keep looking at these and wondering if I should give them a shot. I prefer low tops when I hoop, so these could fit the bill. I tried the PG4 and hated the fact that it felt a bit unstable and seemed kinda narrow. I have heard that the 5 has more room. Your video gives me a little hope. Thanks again for the info👍
Kobe 9 traction is a different breed. PG 5 is not that category, but it's still nice. But outside durability is terrible, not raccomended. Need to try the XDR version yet.
For my wide footers I would not recommend this shoe. If you want these go half a size up. For me the peaks on the side always hurt my foot when done playing. I played in these indoors and outdoors and in my opinion it's better outdoors.
