I'm here to say that you're a very responsible content creater. You not only made the tutorial easy to follow you also updated the issue that we might face in the future. Much love and respect
Amazing brother! You just saved me from spending a lot with the other hosting services to launch my basic WordPress website. I can mention as per my experience I didn't have to wait for 48 hours after updating the custom name servers in Google domain, it just took 5 mins and it was working fine.
UPDATED videos for 2021!! ruclips.net/video/5_uz06w5xt8/видео.html *******UPDATED VIDEO ABOVE********* UPDATE: Hosted my new business, www.KidPhotoFun.com on GCP with the instructions above; and it has been running super smooth for several weeks now. I enabled Stackdriver so that I can keep an eye on the CPU utilization of the VM instance, it also continuously runs UpTime checks so I know if my website goes down. Lastly, I have a policy configured to let me know if my monthly bill gets over $0.50! IMPORTANT UPDATE: I just found out that the Cloudflare CDN blocks the SSL Certificate from auto renewing... it looks like we can't use Cloudflare CDN with the free auto renewing SSL certificate ☹ . I fixed it for www.KidPhotoFun.com and the SSL auto renews fine, but loses the CDN benefits. None-the-less, the performance is still VERY good and I'm super happy with my deployment, let me know if you have any questions. UPDATE!!! Here’s a more detailed updated guide: I recorded a very detailed 2.5 video hour with step-by-step instructions on how to create your FREE Website using GCP here: www.pixelstabbers.com/courses/secrets-to-getting-your-free-photography-website/
K. Vasanth Kumar , it depends on how much resource your website uses. For me it is about $2/month. Since i have decent traffic. Your can also create a image of your VM and migrate it to a new GCP account yo get another $300 credit for the first year.
Soumyadip Chatterjee , you can enable stackdriver through the main menu of GCP (on the left). Keep an eye on the CPU usage. You should also go to “billing” and set up a billing alert for $1/month and $2/month so you can see how much of the FREE credit you are spending each month.
I must say, this is the best step-by-step guide that I've ever come across. I got my website up and running just by glancing at your instructions. I have set up many WordPress websites but never did one on GCP. Well done!
Thank you so much. It was a scary 1 hour I spent on going through the steps but everything worked! Amazing. There are so many exceptions and details in everything you do. So rare to find something this complicated but works.
I want to redeem myself for my early judgement as I misunderstood the conditions to use google cloud. Was my first time using it. You did an absolute brilliant job with this video that will help so many to figure out how do very complex things in a matter of minutes. You gained another subscriber and I will be following hopefully you can expand and talk about various web development topics . Cheers
Hi Carla! Thanks so much for the kind words! GCP is a wonderful platform, I hope you can take advantage of it. You've got better coding skills than me, and if you learn GCP well you can really make it shine! Have a great day! (BTW: Thanks for supporting UTECHPIA too, you ROCK!) . 😀Cheers!

You're most certainly welcome! Thank you for your kind words!!! Your comment Made My Day! YOU ROCK! Congrats on your new website. BTW: You should setup a "billing alert", to alert you if you spend more than $1 a month. With my current traffic, I spend about $2/month. Have a great day, my friend!

This is really cool! Great intro to Google Cloud Console for IT-minded folks. Plus, in my experience, whatever I didn't use of the $300 credit rolls over and stays on the account after one year. I had setup a Moodle instance on Google Cloud and learned a ton, though I've never run Wordpress there. Good point you make that this is for sites with light traffic, the f1-micro instance is kind of a light server. Good video!
I never ever bothered to like or comment on any RUclips video. But this is such an amazing video. I have watched it multiple times and be it any problem, I instantly get the solution. Highly grateful to you sir.
Hi Dhaness Sahoo! Thanks for watching the tutorial! FYI: The method in this video is out dated, there are better ways to setup FREE Hosting on GCP now. There is a new Bitnami Certificate Tool called "bncert-tool" it is super easy to use and it works better with CloudFlare CDN. Also you don't need to waste money paying for Google Cloud DNS Service anymore. Check out the new tutorial here: ruclips.net/p/PLFBOf6mkjEzLdCYcyYzI4gRqSy9oVOVJU Let me know if you have any questions! Have a great day, Dhaness Sahoo, my friend!
Hi, I was stuck on the "RewriteEngine On" part, finally know that we need to use the arrow to get down on the part where we need to edit. The login information for the website is on the Deployment Manager, just a reminder to myself. Thank you so much for making this video! :)
hi, i followed all same steps to host my bigrock domain www.infovim.com. but when I open it it shows this 34.106.71.172.xip.io/wp-signup.php?new=infovim.com
You are an efficient teacher, means that understand this topic very well. Nicely Done Mate!!!!!!! Would be nice if you make more similar videos to cover the details. Like Upgrading from free tier, Pros and cons of these method, etc. Thanks
Hi Wicitra! Thanks so much for the kind words, my friend! In regards to upgrading from the Free Tier... FOR DATA: the great thing about GCP is that you always get the free tier and the free tier quota resets every month. So if you use more than the free Tier, you only start paying "after the free tier quota is exhausted". FOR CPU: You'll start to pay more if you need a faster CPU because only the f1-micro CPU is part of the free quota. When your website starts to slow down, then you'll need a faster CPU, at that point, it probably means you have lots and lots of visitors; and at that point, GCP solution might not be the most cost effective anymore :) . Let me know if you have any questions, my friend!

Thank you very much for the tutorial! It is easy to understand, straight forward, clear, and accurate. New subscriber here! I am looking forward to learning from you more!
One thing not mentioned is how installing Wordpress plugins (most often) inserts junk into the database (such as extra tables that you'll never use again) and it's a little bit crazy to add that weight for just changing some template images URLs. This can be done manually by find and replace (with whatever program /interface) and confirming visually what you're changing, or with RegEx.
Hi I haven't gotten around to setting it up yet but 1st impressions of this guy are he is as professional as he is straight to the point. Perfect speed of presentation making it easy to maintain focus for a 30 min video something I really struggle with! Thanks man.
Thank you very much for this! I was able to get a WordPress site going on a Google Compute Engine by following this video.Only small things have changed: -- Bitnami recommends running sudo /opt/bitnami/bnhelper-tool which gives a menu to remove the icon and to generate the certificate. -- The certificate can be generated as you described, but Bitnami recommends running the new, easier tool using sudo /opt/bitnami/bncert-tool. Thanks again!
Great video. Thank you. Some questions: 1. What’s the benefit of using letsencrypt over cloudflare for ssl? Why was letsencrypt required if you already can do that with cloudfare? 2. Also can a static ip be assigned to a new VM if the current one is deleted? 3. For ssh to VM from local terminal, where do I set the ssh keys?
Thanks for watching and leaving such a nice comment Shivam! Please Subscribe to UTECHPIA, if you haven't already done so. 👍😀 To answer your question: [[1]] Cloudflre doesn't provide SSL, they just provide extra encryption on top of your SSL certificate. Cloudfare also provides the CDN service which helps speeds up your website... however, personally, I decided to stop using Cloudfare. It is easier to manage my SSL certificate without using Cloudflare CDN. [[2]] Yes, you can always remap your static IP to a new VM instance: cloud.google.com/compute/docs/ip-addresses/reserve-static-external-ip-address#assign_new_instance [[3]] I haven't done this personally, but here's where you can find more information about SSH Keys to use locally: cloud.google.com/compute/docs/instances/connecting-advanced

This is cool to know about, but I can't see myself spending this much time in maintaining my own server. If it was just one website without much traffic that would be fine.
Dave, I agree. If your site is big and have lots of traffic. This is not the solution for you. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great evening, my friend! :)
I second you... too much manual work.... I hate to imagine the kind of work an e-commerce website with 1000s of products would entail...This seems like a big pain where the sun don't shine!
I dont understand what manual work are you guys talking about. I have more than 100,000 products on my website and when my trial period will end I will just renew the hosting. SIMPLE

Hi Brandon, Thanks for checking out the video! To answer your question: The price you see is Bitnami's ESTIMATE, in my tutorial I have selected the F1-Micro CPU, which is FREE for specific US regions: cloud.google.com/free/docs/gcp-free-tier . The regions eligible for the free tier are: Oregon (us-west1) Iowa (us-central1) and South Carolina (us-east1). Let me know if you have any other questions. BTW: If you haven't already done so, please consider subscribing to UTECHPIA. Have a great day, Brandon! 👍
Thank you! This worked great. I did run into a couple of things. 1. When I ran the command to create the SSL certificate, it asked if I wanted to use the Bitnami HTTPS Configuration Tool. It was actually really easy. When I ran it, I just answered a couple of questions (domain names, redirects and renewal) and it worked great. sudo /opt/bitnami/bncert-tool 2. I ran into problems trying to get rid of the Bitnami banner. I kept getting - sudo: /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig: command not found I found out bnconfig was actually named bnconfig.disabled I had to rename it using this command line: sudo mv /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig.disabled /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig After I ran that, I was able to disable the banner. Before I restarted Apache, I disabled bnconfig again just in case: sudo mv /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig.disabled Thanks again! You made this really easy!
Hi Zebratry, it can be very, very expensive, if you don't configure your usage correctly. Sorry to hear it was $70/month for you. I currently am still on my free trial, and I watch my cost monthly using the Bill Alert feature. Thanks for the warning, my friend!
Hi, with the method I provided, you can only deploy one Wordpress Instance per VM. And if you're taking advantage of the "free tier" offered by GCP; you can only have 1 f1-micro instance per GCP account. Please let me know if you have any other questions. BTW: if you haven't done so already, please consider Subscribing to UTECHPIA, your support would be totally appreciated. None-the-less, have a great day, my friend!

Thanks Jatin! Yeah, if you have multiple website, I actually recommend multiple Google Cloud (GCP) accounts. Because each account you only get one free f1-micro VM instance. And one f1-micro VM isn't very fast if you run multiple website, so I only recommend it running 1 website per f1-micro VM. Let me know if you have any other questions, my friend.
Hi. Thank you for this the clear explanation, very detailed you make it look easy (and it isn't). One thing I don't get it's how muchs does it cost after all? Because as it can be seen in 05:15 when you selected the options, the summary says "6.35 per month". It's that correct?
Hi masOrnis, thanks for watching my video and thanks for your feedback. I did a TERRIBLE job at explaining this part. Great job with this video! Well explained. Personally, I would rather stick with a cheap $5/month instance from Digital Ocean, Vultr or Linode since I would know how much I am paying on an annual basis. Plus, the upgrades are rather easier. BTW, why did you opt to disable DNSSEC?
Thanks for your feed back! Those hosts are great choices, especially if you don't want to manage the site like you have to with the GCP solution. However, one advantage of hosting on GCP is you are using Google's High Performance network, and it's certainly faster. I did a GTMetrix test between a GCP site with Hostgator, and the difference was significant. I disabled DNSSEC because I wasn't sure how long it would for the settings to populate, and if I was making changes, it is a little harder to troubleshoot with DNSSEC enabled. However, if I had to do it again, I would enable DNSSEC since I know how to set everything up now. (great question!). @@UTECHPIA You mentioned, "However, one advantage of hosting on GCP is you are using Google's High Performance network, and it's certainly faster. I did a GTMetrix test between a GCP site with Hostgator, and the difference was significant." However, HostGator does not come anywhere close to the performance offered by Digital Ocean, Linode, or Vultr. These 3 give you the same type of access to your environment as does GCP. You can tweak the server to your hearts content since you have complete access. I have Gaiusmedia.com running on Digital Ocean and, even without any optimization of images and no WP caching plugins enabled, I have a B rating on GTMetrix.
@@HullioGQ Wow!!! Thanks for that VERY Valuable information! I'm going to sign up for one of those 3 services and compare with the GCP hosted website, loading up the exact same website. ALSO, I have a new video where I broke the details down at exactly 1 minute into the video: ruclips.net/video/fJJL9icHCxY/видео.html . Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
Thank you so much, this is really helpful. I have a question though, maybe this is a new feature and that is why you didn't handle it in the video. When choosing the Boot Disk in step 1, Google now has three options: 1. Standard Persistent Disk, 2. SSD Persistent Disk and 3. Balanced Persistent Disk (new). Which one would you go for and why?
I'm here to say that you're a very responsible content creater. You not only made the tutorial easy to follow you also updated the issue that we might face in the future. Much love and respect
Amazing brother! You just saved me from spending a lot with the other hosting services to launch my basic WordPress website. I can mention as per my experience I didn't have to wait for 48 hours after updating the custom name servers in Google domain, it just took 5 mins and it was working fine.

UPDATED videos for 2021!! ruclips.net/video/5_uz06w5xt8/видео.html
*******UPDATED VIDEO ABOVE*********
UPDATE: Hosted my new business, www.KidPhotoFun.com on GCP with the instructions above; and it has been running super smooth for several weeks now.
WordPress bitnami can charge monthly 13.6$ What about after two year (after expire Google 300$) should we pay 13$/month
how to enable stackdriver and what data should we look at
is there any video of yours?
Please help me in this
Hey man what does it cost after a year....
Check out the new tutorial here: ruclips.net/p/PLFBOf6mkjEzLdCYcyYzI4gRqSy9oVOVJU

Your smile during intro literarily makes me smile too
You are an efficient teacher, means that understand this topic very well.
Excellent tutorial. I loved that you said at the beginning what you were going to do so we didn't feel like a blindfolded person in the journey.

This was an awesome video! His personality really is a breath of fresh air lol
Its nice to see that you are looking into every comment. Great!!
Thanks for leaving such a nice comment!!! You are AWESOME for saying that! :) Thanks, my friend!
Hi I haven't gotten around to setting it up yet but 1st impressions of this guy are he is as professional as he is straight to the point. Perfect speed of presentation making it easy to maintain focus for a 30 min video something I really struggle with! Thanks man.
Thank you very much for this! I was able to get a WordPress site going on a Google Compute Engine by following this video.Only small things have changed:
-- Bitnami recommends running sudo /opt/bitnami/bnhelper-tool which gives a menu to remove the icon and to generate the certificate.
-- The certificate can be generated as you described, but Bitnami recommends running the new, easier tool using sudo /opt/bitnami/bncert-tool.
Thanks again!

Great video. Thank you. Some questions:
👍😀 To answer your question:
[[1]] Cloudflre doesn't provide SSL, they just provide extra encryption on top of your SSL certificate. Cloudfare also provides the CDN service which helps speeds up your website... however, personally, I decided to stop using Cloudfare. It is easier to manage my SSL certificate without using Cloudflare CDN.
[[2]] Yes, you can always remap your static IP to a new VM instance: cloud.google.com/compute/docs/ip-addresses/reserve-static-external-ip-address#assign_new_instance
[[3]] I haven't done this personally, but here's where you can find more information about SSH Keys to use locally: cloud.google.com/compute/docs/instances/connecting-advanced
@@UTECHPIA there is a way to use the cloudflare origin certificate instead of the ssl from google so you can use the CDN advantages of cloudflare?

Hi Brandon, Thanks for checking out the video! To answer your question: The price you see is Bitnami's ESTIMATE, in my tutorial I have selected the F1-Micro CPU, which is FREE for specific US regions: cloud.google.com/free/docs/gcp-free-tier . The regions eligible for the free tier are: Oregon (us-west1) Iowa (us-central1) and South Carolina (us-east1). Let me know if you have any other questions. BTW: If you haven't already done so, please consider subscribing to UTECHPIA. Have a great day, Brandon! 👍
@@UTECHPIA thanks for clearing that up, I had the same question✌
David, thank you, your teaching is so simple and clear. Very distinctive. You did a great job creating this video.
Thank you! This worked great. I did run into a couple of things.
1. When I ran the command to create the SSL certificate, it asked if I wanted to use the Bitnami HTTPS Configuration Tool. It was actually really easy. When I ran it, I just answered a couple of questions (domain names, redirects and renewal) and it worked great.
sudo /opt/bitnami/bncert-tool
2. I ran into problems trying to get rid of the Bitnami banner. I kept getting - sudo: /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig: command not found
I found out bnconfig was actually named bnconfig.disabled
I had to rename it using this command line:
sudo mv /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig.disabled /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig
After I ran that, I was able to disable the banner.
Before I restarted Apache, I disabled bnconfig again just in case:
sudo mv /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig.disabled
Thanks again! You made this really easy!
i used it and after my trail i had to pay 70 bucks a month. so be aware of that...
Hi Zebratry, it can be very, very expensive, if you don't configure your usage correctly. Sorry to hear it was $70/month for you. I currently am still on my free trial, and I watch my cost monthly using the Bill Alert feature. Thanks for the warning, my friend!
OMG! could you please tell me why do you think this happened?
when your trial finished, was your active instance a f1-micro?
Hello I have a quick question? can I build multiple wordpress sites using the same instance or I need to have a instance per site.
Thanks in advance.
Great tutorial.
What are the exact costs you're seeing with this monthly? Thanks.

@@UTECHPIA could I know how much traffic do you have for $2/month ? Thank you very much for the video 🙂

@@UTECHPIA thanks for the reply I do have two sites set up on two different platforms. I do keep checking the billing but it's not even showing me there's an occurrence of money being taken off the 300.
@@WayneRigley Thanks for watching my video and leaving such a positive comment. About billing: The actual cost can be displayed. Here's how: GPC Menu > Billing >Billing Report, and on the bottom left hand corner, uncheck "One Time Credits". That way you will see how much credit is being used. VERY important to know so you can anticipate the cost after your $300 credit runs outs / expires after 1 year. Let me know if you have any questions, my friend! Thanks alot, perfect tutorial. Easy, even for novice. I learnt a lot and I already started building mine by following your steps
You are Brilliant, Thanks a lot for the quality of your tutorials...Bless you.
Hi ABC WEB! Check out the new tutorial here: ruclips.net/p/PLFBOf6mkjEzLdCYcyYzI4gRqSy9oVOVJU

Question ?? Can I install subdomains on Google Cloud Plateform ?
Hi David @UTECHPIA I wanted to say a big thank you for creating this video. I followed the basic steps and now have a lightning fast site on Google cloud. I did however come across a problem when it came to editing my site. Once I had my WP installed, I realised that it had been built as HTTP instead of HTTPS Wordpress> General settings > WordPress Address (URL) / Site Address (URL). Somehow I have managed to access my WP build using Googles SDK kit today and updated my Wp-config.php file - However this was complex!! a) is there a way to set up as HTTPS during the build b) or a simpler way to set this up other than the route I took? Thank youuuuu
can someone help me, my website suddenly becomes offline and unresponsive today after about 4 months on google cloud. Everything seems to be fine with my GCP i have checked the ip address and vm instances are still the same. What else can i do now i need an urgent reply.
Phonetweakers , I had the same problem. Please see the fix in the description of this video. Good luck, my friend!
@@UTECHPIA Thanks so much, i managed to fix the issue with your help by using the link in the video description. My database also crashed and i lost most of my website articles, this is so painful to me i don't know how this happened.
Great video.....only suggestion that I would add....is how to migrate your wordpress from a hosting service (for example using All-In-One WP Migration Plugin)
Thanks, excellent suggestion! BTW: If you haven't already done so, please consider subscribing to UTECHPIA, your support would be totally appreciated! Have a great day, my friend! :)

Great video. It helped me put my website on google cloud platform. Thanks for the detailed steps.

terrific tutorial and very friendly presentation. thanks a lot, in helping me take these first steps in a wordpress website building and hosting!

Great Job for many people who are starting a bussines!!!
Great presentation David.
So what if I have to run multiple wordpress websites, do I have to create separate instances of just 1?
The estimate price on the Bitnami setup screen doesn't take into consideration that we're going to be taking advantage of Google's Free Tier. Since we are using a f1-micro CPU on (us-west1, us-central1, or us-east1), then the CPU is free. Here's more details of the free tier: cloud.google.com/free/docs/gcp-free-tier . Let me know if you have any other feedback, questions.
You are great Bro.Thank you, thank you, thank you for help.I have to say you got amaizing skills to explain and you are funny too. Respect
please update SSH commands .its shows error "Unknown Command".
Hey, honestly this video's been very helpful! But it's a sincere request that you pin a comment saying you DO NOT recommend using Cloudflare as you have in the video for the CDN. I followed it through and It's given me a HUGE pain in the ass and I don't know how to recover my SSL certificate now.
Liked and subscribed. Excellent tutorial. I like the enthusiasm!!

Very well explained man. I completely fell in love with you. 😊😊
You rock, my friend! Thanks much for checking out my video, and thanks for your support! 😀👍
(gaiusmedia.com/ looks great, BTW!). Of the 3 services you've mentioned, which one would you recommend I try? Thanks!
Thank you so much, David! This tutorial is awesome!

Hi. Nice tutorial. Could you explain how the cost would go as low as few cents a month? On your tutorial I see more than 5 dollars a month.
That's what I'm confused about as well
If your traffic falls under the free tier limit for GCP, you will not be charged.
